Wonderland!!!
Stonemason wanted to let us know that he's still king of Daztopian set props. The waterway was a great idea. There are so many interesting nooks and crannies here, as usual for a Stonemason set. Have we become so spoiled and jaded that we fail to oooh and ahhh over this great set because we're familiar with his style? Render settings and cameras included, which means that we can re-create the promos with a load and a click.
I've been hoping Stonemason would give us an expansive Cyberpunk 2077-type city center prop (see below). One could fairly easily kitbash such a scene, but the street layouts are problematic.
Urban Future 8 was a cool environment, and it would be even cooler with the kind of neon light fictional logo sign props we get with Wonderland. I've lobbied The Antfarm to release a fictional logo neon light prop kit, but it hasn't happened. Perhaps Stonemason will do it. I've already scavenged signs from various places, but I could always use more.
Anyway, I just wanted to say big ups to our champion for continuing to give us great props. Cue EWF's "Boogie Urban Wonderland."

...already in the cart.
I haven't bought something with zero hesitation in a long time. It looks awesome.
...other than Daz+ once in a while, about the only time I purchase a PA item that is newly resleased is when it's something by Stonemason.
.
Not sure if we can link it since no one asked directly for it but there is an excellent set over at Deviantart that could work in some kitbashing to create a street scene, not quite the same but could fit the vibe of other parts of night city (: Urban Streets Of Tomorrow by sfman) and another Cyberpunk city set here: https://www.daz3d.com/cyberpunk-street
The set looks awesome.
I'm sad there's no 3DL version included anymore, though.
Wow, this set looks exceptionally good!
sorry about that, there's just too much going on in this one to even try a 3Delight version, all those emissive surfaces would take way too long to render in 3delight ...with other recent sets it's more about the Iray shader capabilities doing things that 3Delight can't do.
There are some assorted Neon signs, logos and sign packs at RH and CGT, but they are primarily in OBJ or FBX formats. I picked some up mainly to use as you describe, but have not had a chance to try them.
This is in my cart for Tuesday night to pull the trigger ;) I can't even tell you how many SM sets I've got. A LOT. LOL
I certainly want it but not right now
while the price is good the Australian dollar isn't and I just have too many other priorities
so will join my growing wishlist
I also want Stray the game one day

Thanks for adding the link, @WendyLuvsCatz!
Yeah the AUD is indeed not great at the moment, with $1.00AUD equating to $0.67USD at the moment. What is even worse when you pay with paypal compared to credit card, you can sometimes end up paying more with Paypal.
was 0.64 last purchase
I won't even buy stuff in Fastgrab
I certainly get your point of not including 3DL presets. If I bought this great looking set I'd be spending days to convert it to 3DL pathtracer-compatible surfaces. (And I might even do that some day). But to be fair, even the 3Delight12 is capable of handling emissives rather well, just not with the default REYES module. Of the top of my head, the only thing it cannot handle well is reflective/transmissive caustics.
Putting a render of UF5 here, which is the latest Stonemason set I own. Converted from the IRay version, rendertimes I can't recall but much faster than IRay on CPU.
Yes, granted this is a much older and simpler set so it's possible one would have to render Wonderland overnight, tks for making all these well optimized environments!!
I actually have a feature request: Would it be possible to start including height maps in addition to normal maps? 3DL likes bump/displacement...and the "real thing" looks so much better than normalmaps, even in IRay. Also, listing the map types included would be so helpful when deciding if a conversion is even possible;)
Great game especially if you luvs catz. However be aware that it's pretty much one & done -- there isn't much replayability. It was still worth it for me and I'm glad I bought it, but others may feel it's a little expensive for a short-ish game so you may want to take that into consideration given your exchange rate down under.
(sorry for the off-topic folks!)
With the current £ to $ exchange rate, I simply cannot afford this.
But I bought it anyway.
Oooh, shiny ... But euro / dollar exchange also not good ... Hmmmmmmm. Can anyone give me the installed size of this beauty? Thanks!
Its a reasonable request so I recommend you file a ticket with Daz3D as they can make it "law" for the PAs to list that info.
Daz could also link to the readme for people who don't use the add-in, so they'd have access to the file list and could answer those questions for themselves.

PS: It's a beautiful environment. Cyber Venice.
Tks @Sevrin
So this seems to be the trend, relying heavily on roughness/normals for (especially) environmental sets! It's a shame, really!
@Mattymanx
Eh, I'm not exactly on speaking terms with DAZ zendesk, to be frank:)) But yes that would be the obvious thing to do, so I'll go ahead;)
Displacement isn't something that Iray does very well, unlike 3delight which has micro displacment at rendertime ,Iray subdivides the mesh which can be a huge drain on time and memory...so I'm very selective on where I use it,this set for eample it's only used to raise the tread on some tires.
I'm always trying to be careful to create environments that everyone can render,
Though I can't really think of anything in this environment that would need a displacement map
"listing the map types included would be so helpful when deciding if a conversion is even possible"
The map types are listed on the product page, but I get that's not very helpfull as it's not specifically saying how many of each map type is being used,
Tks for commenting! Yes I understand there are tradeoffs in every aspect of creating such large environments. So what about bumpmaps? A thing of the past?
yea, I don't think anyone uses bump maps anymore
It's a great product but I can't use it. Any signs with text (English or Asian), the agency I work will not accept images because of potential copyright/trademark issues.
So I never buy these products. The signs need to be generic such as "Sushi" even if the venue names are fake.
Sucks to be me.
if the topology isn't made for displacement, height maps wouldn't work as you would imagine. so it is not that simple.
Did a first render with the cam08 (main promo), gave it 15,000 iterations and it is very grainy still.
Any suggestions?
What?
