Genesis 9 Compatibility List - both directions - anywhere?

So, with the release of Generation 9 figures and items the most important question for me - and probably other customers - might be:
What of the new releases for Generation can be used with my enormous amount of G8 figures?
Considering the "gift" from the "Pre-release Video" could not be used with G8 (or earlier) figures, I expect G9 clothes, poses, expressions and hair not to work on earlier figures without the help of soon to be released products?!? Or do the "Starter Essentials" we get for free give us the option to use these items on older figures? And considering these "Starter Essentials" need DAZ 4.20, what do people who still use DAZ 4.15/4.16 (because of several DRAM issues with the 4.20/4.21 versions and the Ghostlight changes) can do to use G9 clothes and hair (at least) for older figures?
If the answer is - the by me expected - "upgrade to 4.20" this will - for me - to buy quite a lot less here...
If it is - unexpectably - easy to use the mentioned items in both directions, can we have a short list of what categories do or don't work?

I used a Victorian dress made for Genesis 8 on Genesis 9 and raising her arms melted her overskirt and made it follow her and it accepted hair too. Even adjusting her arms makes the overskirt move but it's a dress made for genesis 8 so there's nothing wrong, it's just on a figure it wasn't made for
It doesn't accept Genesis 8 skin since I got an error message
So, we will have to buy new clothes?
Did an autofit box come up when you loaded the dress/hair on the G9 figure?
Out of the box, nothing.
Well, hair can usually be used on other figures pretty easily (do not "fit to" the figure, position it manually on zeroed figure then parent it to the head), and smart props can be repositionned manually too.
Genesis 9 starter essentials will enable you to autofit clothes from earlier figures to G9, but going backwards generally requires you to purchase clones.
Mesh, Rigging and mapping are very different, so morphs, poses and textures won't work.
There will most certainly be converters released at some point.
With a wide skirt like this you'll most certainly need to adjust the rigging manually, obviously parts of the overskirt were assigned to the "arms" zone by the automatic process. Other types of garments should work better.
Well, here she is, Genesis 9 with Genesis 8.1 clothes.... no issues.
If you use the same type of process for fitting close from Genesis 3 to Gen 8 characters it works if you specify the Genesis 9 anatomical features and once you trasnfer the rigging, use the adjust rigging to shape. I was able to fit the connect suit to V9 in this manner

This is G9M in the only pose I could find that is masculine in G9 Starter Essentials. Since the included underwear for him is a mess, I tried MI's Two Piece Business Suit for G8/G8.1 Males and except for the shoes, no issue. And after I paid attention to the new 'shoe' fit thing it worked. I didn't dForce it, just too distracted.

Soooo... as it seems, it's not that complicated to get stuff from older generations on G9... which is... nice. But for me the reverse compatibility is way more important. So...
Is it possible - right now, without any any other products to be bought - to use G9 stuff on G3/G8/G8.1 figures?
Because if it isn't, shopping of new stuff here will be kinda useless for me...
Honestly from what I was just told, gen 9 is going to be worse for gen 8 stuff to be put on it than gen 8.1 was. Especially with materials and textures so guess this is DEFINITELY another hard pass for me and sticking to gen 8.
Another test with different hair and clothing, it all went smooth.
I tried Genesis 9 bikini on a genesis 8.1 and it didn't work.
I tried the Sci-Fi Urban Warrior Outfit for Genesis 8.1 Females on Victoria 9 and after a stream of popups to fit each piece, it seemed to work fine. (Having issues with getting Vic 9 Expressions to work, though.)
High heels are a problem, similar to G3>G8 heels.

No problem with dForce G8 Hair on G9:

can you just dial in the hidden clones with it wearing the clothing
edit rigging convert clothing to prop
then use the transfer utility
I only have the basic wear so no real need
the existing clothes all look pretty close fitting
4.21.x.x, not 4.20.0.x (in the Public Builds it was 4.20.1.x)
Clothing and such will not be backward compatible with Genesis 8.1
MidnightStories VR Suit for G3 Male and French Twist Hair for G3 Female. No tweaking for hair, very minimal tweaking for suit, considering it was made for a male.

Luthbel's G2M Eldrich Seeker fits pretty well - EXCEPT the holsters. Horror Survivors G2M fits pretty well also, EXCEPT the backpack.

Probably not without a converter script or something, since the bone names have changed in G9.
I've managed to do this with a custom clone, so it is entirely doable. Just requires a little work.

Tutorial I used:
...more expense, much more work = not an improvement. I'll pass.
...leads directly to ...
...for me, too.
Her back is oddly shaped like a letter "S" when posed.
Just like the problem with G2 female back was like a wet noodle.
I've seen this with most of the new poses for V9.I don't much care for this look at all.
Personally, I'm not liking the new character much.
She/he has a few interesting things,but I don't see this going well.
I just might skip this generation.
This release reminds me of an old 1960's film called "Cinderfella" for lots of reasons.
Not totally fitting but is 4.21 mandatory for something? Still on 4.20 which loads Vicky 9 without problems.
G9 running fine on DS 4.15, although they say there are changes in LIE related functions, which do need the 4.21
Far as I am aware, items are almost never backwards compatible. So you cannot use Gen 9 stuff on older figures. However, I have found Gen 8/8.1 clothing (except footwear) and hair (mostly) does work on Gen 9 which is good.
