  • So it seems like, to me, If there was such a thing as a do-over, Daz should be releasing its Teaser for G9 about now... "October 31st Daz will announce a jaw-dropping addition to its core line-up".

Then they could be releasing a slew of assets at the same time and hopefully have all the kinks worked out.

Our perception, as customers, is our reality, just like the PA's perception is their reality.... and then of course, there is Richard/Daz ;)

Going by what is happening, and this is my own opinion on all of this. Genesis 9 was no where near ready for release, especially if one of the most essential parts of the base product was not ready for prime time.

Not even the Starter Essentials were ready as they had to update the package because of errors that users saw the first thing they were loading the figure. As if nobody had loaded the figure before release.

Dang that is not great either. I have an error pop up when adding brows of either type to G9, the error would say that a particular .dsf file is missing yet the brows would load.

I did, but I also still get the missing brow file error message.

G9 is a huge project. It involves promos, marketing, QA, testing. Daz makes money from selling the shapes - they really will not hold it back if its ready.
The PA merchant resources doesn't need promos, or marketing.

Usually things that are needed to make other things work properly - as in the example of cars and seats above - are tested together and sold together. Failure to do so can't be explained as "it's a huge project".

Getting back to the moon is an even more huge project, but there will be no launch for the rocket before each and every other part needed for success will be produced and tested. Doing it different only shows a lack of business sense.

These are going to be a step up from the past head & body morphs or they'd be done already. I'm looking forward to them.

I'm confused about the difference between the PA version of the morphs vs the ones we get, I assumed PAs could bake in the morphs and that's why it's called a merchant resource. Why would Vyktoria's product require us to own the morphs?

From replies earlier in the thread it sounds like Vyktohria usually uses head/body morphs as part of shaping presets, so it might be that the vendor's just more comfortable doing that. It mostly struck me as weird because I saw two or three products released that ended up requiring the morphs; I would think not requiring a separate purchase for a product would help sales, so I was curious.

Vykthoria also sells characters via the "store that must not be named". Perhaps the PA's terms and conditions does not allow to use merchant resources and baking morphs if sold outside of Daz? And perhaps it is not always pre-determined which character is offered in waht store? Just a thought.

It's a matter of how the PA prefers to work.  Saiyaness only sells at Daz and her characters also require the morph sets.

May bake in the morpsh doesn't necessarily mean will - it may be a matter iof choice, it may be that the PA has reason for wanting to use original morph rather than just bake it in.

Maybe buying the morphs outright was price prohibitive for them? I'm just spitballing. LOL

  • Ah, another day, another morphless (head and body morphs) G9.
    Some questions come to mind...
Do these comments of frustration make it back to the executives of Daz?

If they do, why can't they communicate with us loyal customers about when the release of the head and body morphs will occur?  (Besides "coming soon")
Why can't they communicate with us what the holdup is?  Maybe in the most general terms?
    Throw us a bone....or something.

I've been checking the store several times a day, and seeing those clowns instead of morph packs, it's like they are mocking me, in their creepy clown laughs.

  • About all I can do is apply my little bit of economic pressure: My next Daz purchase will be the head and body morphs. Until those come out, I buy nothing.

Thank you Mada.  I appreciate it.  And again I apologize if anything I posted seemed like a personal attack on you.  That was not my intention at all....simply just general frustration at the whole thing.

Your efforts are appreciated though... as we seldom get the "official" word we crave.

Still, One foot on the bank (Daz), one foot in the boat (PAs) and the River (customers) in between (that can be calm or tumultuous) is never a good position to be in.

From the looks of the male morphs, that G9 pectoral line is irrevocable. I've never seen an emaciated man with pec definition.

  • Yea! Finally!!!! :)

And as they are out now, are the limited - numbers wise - morphs doing what you would want them to do? Compared to previous generation it seem to get fewer and fewer, until some PA comes out with an addon or an old Generation 3 freebie assortment of ~200 morphs gets adapted to a new generation once again...

Thanks! I've already tried them out. Same names, as far as I can recall at least, but new & improved.

I can only speak for myself, but based on what I'm able to do with these I probably won't need to buy much else in the way of strictly human morph packs and can focus on fantasy stuff and HD details. I'm not sure how much of that is just that G9 seems to need less tweaking to look right. I also found that with G8/8.1 it was very easy to make characters look inhumanly perfect and harder to make them look realistically attractive/interesting without introducing wonkiness, which meant that early on I felt like I needed a lot of morphs to create balanced facial features. I then ended up scaling back the number of morphs I used on each character over time to avoid conflicts and weird results with expressions and poses.

  • They are very much in line with official morphs for G3 and G8. It's just that by now probably everyone also has EJ morphs, Body Mixer and a few other packs for the older generations.

Looking at the list of G9 Body Morphs, I noticed there's no Legs Length or Torso Length sliders. Are those part of the basic G9 figure? Or are they combined into the new Proportions slider which I've heard something about?

Also, in the Hip area, what is "Hip V Define"? Is that what we used to call the Iliac Line in previous generations or something else?

BTW, with all the recent furor over nipples, I guess that's why men now have two "Nipples Depth Masculine" sliders. Can they have asymmetrical nipples now? laugh wink (a small typo Daz may wish to clean up)
