Does anyone know where is the PowerPose Template for Genesis 9?
Comments
Looking forward to an answer to this question, because I just tried PowerPose on G9 and was thoroughly disappointed.
I am not aware that there is one, but I will ask.
It seems that there isn't one, at this moment.
Yeah, along with Measure Metrics, I was wondering about that also.
I would make this myself if I knew how (or apparently I did at one point but have long forgotten). This needs to be done as soon as possible.
I'll probably take a whack at it if it isn't addressed promptly, as I do have some experience.
There doesn't seem to be a face controller like there was in 8.1 either. Since facial expressions are a big selling point, I would hope that there is a tool that makes posing the face easier.
Measure metrics is the plug-in, Figure Metrics is the scipt and wearables for setting sizes - that is being updated.
Yeah -- kind of makes the Genesis 9 figure harder to use than Genesis 8. Powerpose was great once I got my head around it. Hope they bring out a template soon. That and I kinda wish they had the pull tool from Poser, that was also very quick for setting up poses - you could bend each body part without tugging the whole body with it.
Try the ActivePose tool and pinning the body parts you don't want to move.
Richard, have you heard anything on the PowerPose front, by chance? I just started falling in love with PowerPose for earlier generations. ;)
I was told that they do intend to add one, but don't have an ETA.
Ooh, awesome! Glad to hear it. I'll stay tuned...
How about a face controller rig like in 8.1? That was huge for me in making expressions, and it seems strange that it was not included with Victoria 9.
I have been working on a partial template for PowerPose for Genesis 9 (Body and Hands) to tide you all over until the official one is provided. (Maybe I'll get to the the Head, but I'm not even going to attempt the Face).
I have the Body completed, working on the Hands. Maybe a couple more days...
...and it will look like this:
So, who want to test it out? Just need a sanity check...
just out of curiosity: are there any good resources/tutorials for creating you own powerpose templates?
I'm game!
Not that I'm aware of. We had something going back many editions but the system was new and improved afterwards.
Not that hard, actually, the GUI is fairly easy to use, but it can be tedious. I just followed the example of the one for Genesis 2, the last one provided that you could actually edit. There was none for Genesis 3, and Genesis 8 was encrypted.
Works! I think I checked all the dots, didn't crash D/S, works :-)
Right-click on the lower arms doesn't do much if anything, but then I don't think the rigging there does anyways.
THANK YOU so much :-)
I used the "make your own folder" method and copied over the D/S file as directed.
Great!
BTW, the Forearms only bend and twist. I didn't see the point of adding the same to the RMB, but now you can add it yourself, if you want to dabble.
There is a nagging problem with editing the PowerPose templates. Studio seems to have a short memory when editing or creating the points, so save your work often (like, for every type of point before changing the next one), or you will lose your changes. Also, the Save As dialog doesn't remember your last selections (Type: Base, Name: Genesis 9), so you have to enter them every time.
Removing control nodes always crashes Studio for me, so I edit the .dsx file in a case like that. They can be terse and cryptic, but at least they are text files.
Oh I'm not editing that for the arms lol ... nope. I figure it ain't broke, I'm not fixing it 'cause yeah, I do recall the process being very nitpicking.
I only mentioned it in case you had.

eta: Yes the updated version works well too :-)
I decided to add the Head controls when I realized that G8.1 had that Face Control attachment that was not included with G8, although there was a paid version available after-market. Anyway, it's the simplified version of the Head control, like on G8.1. So, anyone else want to give it a spin?
Head works, love spinning those eyes around ;-)
I'll give it a spin if it's easy enough to remove when the "Official" one gets released by DAZ 3D.
Should be easy enough, just delete the files that will go in the PowerPose folder before adding the "official" version.
There was an unused slot, so... Works well with the cross-eyed look.
.. and I foresee the "official" DAZ powerpose and face rig for G9 will be on sale, not for free. This is another good reason to use G81 instead. I mean G9 is coming in bit and pieces where you need to buy every piece to finally get your figure working, even for the basic features. May be this is just a marketing strategy so we'll see how it works.
