its a very bad choice of words, or way of providing a sale. It would have been just fine if they were to say buy a product over $2 today, get 20% off tomorrow. Buy something everyday during promo to continue the discount. Simple enough. Get rid of all the punchcard nonsense which is just words that don;t mean anything in the sale. There are no punchcards, I'm still not sure if you get discount the 1st day. it doesn;t say really. I bought a $3.50 product and then bought something everyday. I'm now getting 40% off ... plus the 10% off, The stuff is already 40% off, so it adds up nicely. 78% on PA items, 85% on DO items.
I was slightly bummed yesterday, as Daz+ items were the only category and since I have been a Daz+ member for years already, so I already got most of the stuff I want from Daz+, and sometimes even noticably cheaper as well. Still managed to keep my punchcard topped up with a small purchase.
But, today was a pretty good day again, and I really had to cherrypick from my wishlist to stay within budget. Next payday can't arrive fast enough.
I don't get 78% off of PA Items, I get only up to 70% off, if I buy 3 of them. And I don't get 85% off DO items but only 80 (again, if I buy 3).
I have made a purchase yesterday and today but not the day before yesterday, so it seems I only get the 20% off even on further purchases. The way it is worded, I should get the full discount because I have made a purchase both yesterday and today (two purchases on two different days) but it seems the "punch" only applies on the next day. This promotion has good discounts hidden behind an unneccessarily obtuse gimmick (nothing new for DAZ to be sure).
I generally don't pay attention to DAZ' more arcane sales contraptions so I had initially ignored the whole punch card thing. The rules weren't laid out well, either.
Luckily I did start paying attention to it right before Black Friday, allowing me to get the most (well, almost the most) out of this weekend.
Without double-punch, I agree that this sale was nothing special. With double-punch it was a really amazing sale.
25% gift card without buy-in to top it all off.
Plus, I somehow got a DAZ+ membership at 70% discount? I don't even understand how that happened but I'm not complaining. I never was a member before and I wasn't planning on becoming one, but I couldn't say no to that price. I guess I'm a member now, at least for a year!

Okay so if I got it right I should have 85% off for DO items and 78% off for PA items if I had full punches or whatever and bought three items per type... seeing that I actually get only 79% off for DO ja 70% for PA it looks like I don't maybe have full punches. I guess that is to be expected since I didn't do two consecutive days of purchases (I did two days though, just not consecutive).
That being said... I don't see how exactly this sale is supposed to be extra special deal considering I usually only buy stuff when it's at least 70% off (and preferably 80% off). Seems like all the "plus get extra x percent off!" dealies just amount to the normal discount you get from every sale but with bonus confusion and extra potential to buy stuff at a higher price rather than with a full discount?
I still have the $6 monthly coupon so I guess I'll use it for something...
A lot of items were discounted that don't usually get these kinds of discounts. I got Aeon Soul's 'The Legend' at 85% off or something like that.
Yes, I cut my wishlist more than by half going from 134 items to 64, while I did add items to my wishlist I hadn't seen before. This has been one of the best sales over the last two/one-and-a-half years as far as I'm concerned.
Fair enough. I don't have the full discount so everything on my wishlist (that is not Daz original) is still outside my price range. I ended up getting a few random items from the DO section though.
If You want to keep it at that one year AND have paid this time by using PayPal remember to delete the automatic renew option at PayPal for DAZ+ before the year is over, else you might get surprised by a slightly premature prolonging of the DAZ+ membership at the usual $ 70.- a year price. Happened to me, so I am a member 'til 2024 now![devil devil](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/devil_smile.png)
So it's not only Hedgehogs that can't be bothered at all, but the British, too?
For me that GC came at a time when I already had spent most of my DAZ money already. So having to invest even more for a slightly better price for a few items and then having the tempting rest sitting there wasn't an option.
Maybe DAZland puts the GC sale at the start of such a happening next time? Would be a lot more tempting then, for me.
Didn't use paypal, and the 1st thing I did was to go to settings and turn off "recurring". But thanks for pointing it out, it can be a nasty surprise!
I have to say, I was underwhelmed at first by the sale, but it turned out to be pretty good once those 'Double Punch' deals started to kick in.
Cleared off some items in my wishlist that were quite covered in "Eh, I'll buy it on sale someday" dust.
Finding something on sale for 58% off, putting it in your basket, and watching it magically turn into 81% off is a pretty amazing thing.
Homer: "I feel like a kid in... some kind of store!"
Wishlist quite a few (but a large list).
With punches, discounts with all applied up to 99% on a rare occasion, many 78%, many 84, and even numbers between. Plus 25% off gift cards on top. That shopping spree wasn't driven by blunt necessities exclusively, though.
I got great bargains on some bundles I wishlisted. I bit the bullet and purchased a $100 gift card for max savings. With minor purchases on the previous two days, I got the following with $16 to spare. If you want Stonemason stuff, they are in the $6-9 range if you buy 3. So many good purchases to be had
Into the West Mega Bundle (I only had Daz Horse 2 in this one)
Creatures of the Night Mega Bundle (I only had the coffin from this one)
SBibb Magic at Their Fingertips Props and Poses for Genesis 8 and 8.1
Conrad Bundle for Genesis 8 Male
Luthbel's HD Dwarf Bundle
Lightposts Classical
Not sure I get the hedgehog reference (no, I'm sure I don't) but my comment was censored (hence the red text) although I have no idea why - the original word wasn't offensive. No doubt this post will be removed too.
The original word is a (mild) profanity.
I really enjoyed the BF sale this year, lots of great deals, and I had a fun time sifting through them all. Advertisement / descriptions could have been clearer I guess, I almost missed out on it all like others because I didn't get it in the beginning. Glad I finally caught on ;-) Have now got the WL down to some 30 items which are mostly in there to remind me of their existence should I need them. Gifted myself Michael 9 and the lovely Stonemason medieval village to sort of sum up the sale, and also sort of to show goodwill towards the new figures, in return for all the great deals. So, win-win. Thanks, and I will be more than happy to play along next time a sale of this kind rolls around again.
Sorry for the late correction but I think you are wrong. Refer to this linguistics expert towards the end [from 8.00 minutes] of this video :
The word I used is, in fact, a contraction of the word "asked", not profane at all. The actual phrase I used is given as an example.
that particular example looks extremely dubious to me, it's an extreme stretch to suppose that is the root of the phrase.
In any event, even if it is in fact correct this is not the thread for debating usage.
