sure but it could be interesting to find what is capable of doing on normal and color maps. I'll give it a try
It looks like it's very close to MapZone, which is free. I can't find it anymore on Allegorithmic website, but it's still available in software download websites.
You also have neoTextureEdit http://neotextureedit.sourceforge.net/index.html wich is similar, FxGen https://sourceforge.net/projects/fxgen, powerfull but less user friendly,
I regularly have problems with that too when obfuscating my code with Skater, it often generates false positives in AV programs. Their support says it's normal. Bad for developers though who often get accused of spreading viruses.
thank you Philemo I wlll take a close look to them
Try to find a hexeditor that 'passes' every AV/antimalware around...or any of several dozen other dev tools. Try to find 'forensics' software or network analysis tools...
Basically, if something isn't geared to 'end user' use, at one point in time, or even mostly, it will be 'flagged' as dangerous by security software.
One that I found most amusing...a special 'kill' tool, put out by a major AV maker for a particularly nasty piece of malware...that was flagged by said AV as malicious...and quarrantined on download.
Perfect Exposure - free
The perfect plug-in to fix exposure problems, add depth, contrast, and soft light to any scene.

MapZone is a long time favorite of mine. I've been using it mainly as a substitute for CrazyBump.
tanks for all the links

very useful head wax, I use it a lot jointly with another freeware, photoscape
for hdr and exr I've been using xnconvert, a freebie that can manage and tweak many other formats; it works fine with hdr shop to get an useable hdr in carrara
HitFilm 4 Express is out: https://hitfilm.com/express/

Mari noncommercial

Oh, wow, that was unexpected, that limit of six UV texture patches per object will require some careful planing though
I have the Indie version of Mari (bundled with the Indie version of Modo, for a couple of quid a month more). Haven't used it in anger yet though - got rather enamoured with Substance painter!
http://www.videocopilot.net/blog/2016/05/free-star-wars-model-pack/
This is a free model pack for users of the "Element 3D" Plugin, for Adobe After Effects, (available from Videocopilot.net)
The models are supplied in e3d format, and the textures in DDS ,.(for use in Element 3D)
but the models are also supplied as OBJ's and there is a link on that page for "alternative texture files" . in Jpeg format.
thanks Andy :)

Blender is getting its customisable base figures too.
A Great Free-bee, at least for me it is. A gift from Rendo, a free copy of Poser 10. Got it via e-mail from them.
Edit to add:
Turns out that I won the software. Either way it's a great free-bee
Congratulation ! And it seems you can use Genesis3 in Poser for free: https://www.renderosity.com/render-daz-genesis-3-in-poser-cms-18144?&AID=408

theres a few things i dont do often enuf to remember
thinking about making, a making of movie lol
Flashback Express (free) does basic recording with sound. Also works as a great all purpose screen recorder. There are 2 paid for versions with additional functions, like editing and annotating.
Wow!
http://camstudio.org/ (I haven't used it)
http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/win-screen-recording-softwares/ list of some apps to do that.
I have helped some patreon folx post process their screen recordings going from upwards of two gigs to a very nice size and you can't see the difference. Get Handbrake from handbrake.fr
Awesome, forgot about Handbrake. Does a nice job with 2 pass encoding to MP4. Tested it on a WMV file that was already compressed and did not introduce any significant, new compression artifacts.
I was hoping to buy 3ivx someday to convert stuff to MP4 with good quality. Guess I wont need to after all. And Handbrake is 64bit, 3ivx is still a 32bit app.
Glad it rang a bell and it works for you :) the constant quality is mostly what I played around with to test different sizes, the FPS and such really didn't make much of a difference.
free retopology program not tried
I got it now, but haven't tried it yet. This looks abso-freaking-lutely fan-freaking-tastic!!!
