I use TextWrangler on the Mac. Does a similar job.
And I have found EditPad to do the job (on Windows) - the Lite version is free and it's all you need.
Good find! Thanks ;)
Works really good for Game ini editing - keeps the format intact
was worried would only work on .txt extions
giving this trial of bandicam a try https://www.bandicam.com/downloads/
not for a witcher3 playthrough alas, lol, would like to record my carrara and ds playthroughs
lol it really does feel like playing a game.
hehh, not sure how to set up a mic in the bandicam, and setup to capture 1 monitor on a dual setup.
a bit OT but an announcement worthy to be read, especially for DS users
https://www.turbosquid.com/stemcell-3d-models?utm_source=StemCell_customer_announcement&utm_campaign=StemCell_announcement&utm_medium=customer_newsletter
Interesting - but why of particular interest to DS users? It is not listed as a compatible format.
I guess it would be soon, there's much expectation for an applink from DS to any 3d tools out of there
another link to be aware of
https://community.renderman.pixar.com/article/1787/library-pixar-one-thirty.html
dloading right now
That link gives me Page Not Found - what have I missed?!
https://community.renderman.pixar.com/article/1787/library-pixar-one-thirty.html
it should work
The second link works the first gives page not found.
Oh, interesting - Pixar texture library for free! Downloading now. Useful that they come with matching bump maps and normal maps as well, of course those can be used independently too.
Pixar library for free? What are the restrictions of use?
Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 - https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
Awfully nice of them ;)
130 textures with normal maps and such... a fine colection! Thanks! ;)
So, magaremoto, I know you seem to collect render engines... do you also have Renderman? (if so, we should pick this up in a different thread, eh?)
Renderman is done by programming not by clicking render as in Carrara/Octane, etc. Had a copy of the programming manual once. Not for the faint hearted.. Like me
only a couple of dozens DB.. my next step will be upgradin Octane (from 1.1 ) to be used within Unity one day; I like to render animations rather than stills and find out the best of the engines for that
SketchUp, 3D-modeling for the masses? (Sorry if this App has been already mentioned.)
The SketchUp 3D modeling software made 3D modelling easy, err...easier for me! I am a long time user of SketchUp, which to me is the most intuitive 3D modeling program I’ve tried. Certainly not one’s first choice for building organic shapes, but for building props to use in DAZ it does the job for me (imports & exports OBJ, allows texturing and making bones).
The 3D-Warehouse has tons of free models, and the Extensions-Warehouse has enough extensions & plugins to do almost anything… including organic shapes. You can even bring in terrain w/satellite images from Google Earth into your SketchUp model.
I am using the most current Pro/paid version, but there is a free/trial version called SketchUp Make, and lots of older free versions that can be found that may have more functionality for import/export than their current free/trial version.
Here is their link: https://www.sketchup.com/
why do all the good ones require internet activation?
i know of a civil engineering firm in manhattan, doesn't even LAN their engineer's computers.
remember the autocad dongles? lol
Animation is what makes me Love Carrara's engine - but we already know that. I must say that I envy you, all the cool tests you run!
well, in my shallow and nonprofessional experience very few renderers can make animations without problems and almost each one needs adjustments or lacks of some features. Rendering a top quality animation of any kind can be a mess especially if you are not properly equipped (powerful hardware+ many tools knowledge+ skilled people..) so the search can be endless but very funny indeed
Shallow? That's not how I would describe You or your research! Yeah... I'm kind of in a strange position, being that I am simply all by myself and that "Top Quality" renders has never been my mission. Quite the opposite. I've been working at how to get what I'm looking for with very low settings.
as Phil pointed out, if the wow factor is included you may succeed and maybe make money in the CGI field (many factors to consider though)
anyone interested? it seems they're getting serious
http://pro.radeon.com/software/prorender/
Just me two cents, if it has not been mentioned yet. I like to use the free google Nix collection of photopshop fliters , and such very helpful for post work where you need light fliters and they haveother types of tools and fliters as well.
It seems impressive. But for now, the SDK is not available, so we'll have to wait to integrate it in Carrara.
I can understand the logic, debunking the CUDA only available renderers.
that's right, can't wait. please be on the ball philemo
it could be useful for Bryce (and hexagon!?) too
I wouldn't object if someone wanted to integrate this into Carrara, the more options the merrier!
eh ehe another toy to play with
long live carrara
thanks Ivy, nice find
