Girl is partying like there's no tomorrow for sure. Drink more water and take good care of your skin gurl. Prematured aging is not cute, hun.

ETA: And the bundles are pretty uninspiring and repetitive. How many college and gamer items we already have ?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I guess. I am going to buy her for her skin only.

Her skin is fine. Her HD details around her mouth age her.

    Thanks for pointing Julia out!

AND THANKS FOR Actually providing a link to the asset in the OP!

    That is pretty rare

    Another character to skip.

The face isn't looking young enough for being a college girl.

Call me crazy, but I do get a Jenni 8 vibe from Julia. To me Julia looks like a lady in her early 30s who due to life choices did not have a chance to go to college but is now able to, and finds her new hobby which is gaming.

On a side note there are some mom gamers out there who would turn the filters to the max in live gaming sessions trying to fool the audience that they are younger...

Can one not get into college at later age?

Getting my engineering degree, while most of us were between 18 and 26, we had two that had seen the better side of forty (still young if you ask me now) wink

Had similar thoughts on the back story,  cause she looks like she's in her 30s in the closeup shots.

Again the back story might make or break the launch, at least to some customers. I am not really convinced by the official back story, which supposedly promotes Julia as a young person, but her somewhat wrinkly lips and the 'teen face add-on' seem to suggest the otherwise, and I laughed a bit. Julia herself is... a little bit bland for me I guess.

There's literally nothing I care less about than how Daz or PAs choose to present or name the assets. I really can't see how this would make it or break it for anyone... unless you somehow use assets only as Daz presents them. Who does that?

Well, I agree with you. Disregarding Julia's back story, her face is very default G9-ish, which I don't particularly like. I have the same problem with Minerva. To me they are immediately recognizable as G9 characters as their faces are not that different from G9 Feminine's face (which I don't like as that face is kind of... creepy).

Agreed! It's a 3d figure. you can turn down the HD, mix in other characters, change the skin, use it on another figure, etc

Yeah of course we all can do that. Although sometimes when I read some characters' back stories I would be like 'No, you can't fool me.' LOL

If you are going to sell me something (which is not that extraordinary I regret to say), show me that you have put effort in your pitching. Otherwise, I am not sold.

I genuinely don't pay any attention to the backstory of a character, because I know that's not how I'm going to use them.

Yes, if it's an instant buy. To me Julia will forever be a mom in her early 30s.

  • She looks interesting. She is a lot better than many other G9 females.

It took me a minute to realise that Julia 9 is not actually Teen Julia 9... I was adding the "teen" part in my head...

But Teen texture add-on can be purchased separately, also for Angela 9, which I think is a rather nice option.

Back stories aren't really a factor for me when it comes to if I buy a figure or not, but it is interesting to see how a creator/Daz is trying to market a character (maybe sociologically).

On a side note ( and this isn't necessarily about Julia ) but do PAs do their own promo pics?  I've noticed a lot of PAs who have done excellent work in the past releasing figures where the quality seems to be devolving, but on further inspection I think it just might be bad lighting and bad promo pics that make the models seem like maniquins.

I'm supposed to be writing something, so I had the GPU trying out the different skins in the background

    Default HD Julia:

Julia teen materials and normals: (The teen skins come with their own normals)

Julia teen acne and freckles, mat and normals:

Julia wearing Joan, if anyone wants to see if it's really worth getting both skins:

Julia wearing the Teen Ang skin in the acne version with it's normals:

Got some Swole and was having a play, Swole+Julia HD and a few other shaping dials, pictured with default HD Julia:

Hope I linked everything correctly! There was an additonal 30% off  if you owned Xiu in my messages, so I got Julia and the two teen skins and Swole. (Swole Julia has magic fingers, it's fine)

    Def better than the promos

I don't get the Julia 9 Teen addon. If it's just skin and normals, what does it have to do with Julia 9? They don't even use the Julia 9 model for advertising it, which is somewhat misleading to consumers.

Maybe just casually avoiding latent ageism? wink She got younger with the teen skin add-on, which I appreciate and will use the normals for Freja 9 skin.

I agree with ageism. Young ones don't like losing games to a 60-year-old.

That's how cubs learn to be lions, though. Train soft, lose oft.

I agree, it looks good, but don't you need something like "Growing Up" to get a corresponding figure for her?

I do like the Julia face, actually. I see more the problem in her body proportions, which look odd to me. How can a human pelvis be so tiny?

Is this meant to be a realistic character?

A lot of artists are rotoscoping from a photo on character shaping, but forget to take in account, that photos have a perspective distortion.

Maybe that's why a lot of 3d bodies look weird.

She looks kinda generic to me.

I'm picking up the dorm because B.E.T.T.Y. stuff is always so nice.

With the bundles and newly mad items at 90%+* off followed by DAZ+ items included in Mad Artists at 93%+ off, Julia Bundles are an instabuy with the added bonuses sending 'someone' to poor house...

*With the 40% token discount and extra 30% discount from owning Xiu Lin.
