Another coincidence? What?!!! I'm a musician as well! Pretty much all my life!
Here's my very small music page
It was always just covers for the live shows that I got paid for - an then I'd write my own on the side.
Being all by myself in this tiny little city, for my videos I use Magix MusicMaker Premium to make all of my music. At first it felt like 'Cheating', but not so much anymore. I create that nearly as much as I do my own, so I think it's fair to call it my own.
As for me "Mastering my Craft", these forums really helped me get up and going in Daz Studio in short order! (Carrara too!) But I'm also very much used to using lower end gear compared to eveyone else, so I've adopted the technique of rendering in layers - meaning, I render Rosie all by herself in a scene - rendered to png image sequences so it's only her - the rest is transparent. Then I render whatever else I need, and I do those all individually as well, keeping my render times Waaaaay down. Some things render a couple frames per second! Rosie usually takes a minute or more per frame. But she's special! She's my Wife, after all!

I don't think you saw my reply since I didn't quote you- sorry man lol! Hope the webinar went awesome.
The rendering by layers technique you use is similar what I do (and probably you as well) but with DAW composition. Rather than have a myriad of tracks loaded with MIDI instrument (which can take up a lot of memory and tax the CPU), I bounce tracks out separately to mono or stereo (depending on the instrument), then reimport them back in- and turn off the MIDI instrument or just remove it altogether- once I'm sure I'm done making edits here and there. So, I'm freeing up resources as I build and mix the song-I tend to mix as I compose.
Sometimes while working on music I'll bounce multiple tracks out to a stem, which is a bunch of tracks bounced out to one stereo track- you probably already know this stuff anyway. I used MAGIX Music Maker years ago- and it's excellent. Like you, I create the most resource- efficient workflows so I'll get more done faster, without compromising quality.
I looked at your software list and we use some of the same software too- Davinci Resolve Studio- yup! Particle Illusion- yup lol. You're a drummer (who loves Laurin drums:)). and I'm a producer who loves drum machines lol! I was in a band too for years-we weren't that good lol, but it was fun performing. We came close to landing a deal but...that's another story lol.
My stuff is electronic these days and I just make music for video trailers that I really don't know what to do with yet...I have a few trailers done, some in progress and plans to make more lol. I guess I'll just upload them to Youtube eventually?
I did upload one video to Youtube on Haloween 2022 which has a couple of hundred views. I have 2 subscribers lol so yeah, I really don't exist. But, since you were kind of enough to let me into your world, I'm inviting you into mine lol.
So, I've always been a fan of the Halloween movies so I came up with an idea...I have this really cool drum machine see, and I bought a Michael Myers outfit and... well, just take a watch and a listen lol. Hopefully you have headphones or decent monitors so you can hear the mix. And it's my first video, so don't expect a big production lol- it was shot in 1080p so I guess you should try to watch it in that res if you can. I find YT defaults to 360p on a phone- anyway up to you. Later creator!

When I first started getting into the idea of getting a DAW, I bought the Miroslav Philharmonik collection from IK Multimedia. I never really use it, but I hope to one day. But getting that got me on their mailing list and, although I don't really belong quite in That world (IK) I love seeing their emails about their gear. But... Tempest!!! Yikes is that awesome - and I love the video too!

Hey man, I haven't been sleeping much the last few days, so getting dates and times mixed up has been happening a bit lol. Sunday it is lol.
My problem is I want to get too many things going- you know how it is, ideas just keep coming- it never stops. Like today, I went off on a tangeant reading about Unreal Engine- now I want to learn that too lol.
IK Multimedia make great stuff- I have their ARC software for room correction. They made a little analog/digital hybrid drum machine, which I have of course!
Now the Tempest...that is on a whole other level, deeper than Atlantis and more fun than you could imagine- and you've heard the drums- punchy and cut right through a mix. It's built like a tank and the pads are so responsive- such a fantastic instrument to sequence drums and synth sounds. Yeah I love drum machines; I have a....few of them lol.
I guess I have to upload another video of mine sometime lol. I have one that involves some animation, particle efx and music. I manage another Youtube channel for my wife that I prioritize over my music nerd stuff. She loves nature as much as I do so I made a few simple videos recording nature in our back yard. I'm a total camateur but improving slowly lol. The last video I made, while the video itself was very poor quality I think the over result- well, as crazy as it sounds, I'm proud of it and my wife loves it, so thats all that matters really- it was fun making it; I really enjoyed the process.
Maybe I can get a smirk outta you lol. It sounds best in headphones and I recommend 1080p res as usual. The video was shot with a dated digital camcorder, I was quite far away from the 'action', and the lighting was terrible so it ain't pretty lol. I know you're used to crisp, sharp imagery so I hope you don't hurt your eyes watching this LOL!

Fun other news: I was just called to go demo a Strike Pro SE drum kit (Alesis) for a Sweetwater Promo video. We'll see how that all plays out! :)

Nice!! You must be amped outta your mind- I know how passionate drummers are about their kits! Believe it or not, finger drummers like me are also very passionate about their kits lol. I like dark, dusty, heavy drums and so I always try to work those types of sounds- nothing too clean, but that's just me.
And I'll tell ya how it plays out- You'll grab the sticks, sit down and go through every one of those 136 custom kits lol! That set looks amazing man.
I dealt with a sales fella named Dennis K at Sweewater many times- bought a sweeeet drum machine from there- as well as Alesis monitors-which are the ones in my Halloween video lol and whole bunch of other stuff over the years lol mixers, synths you name it.
Back in the day when my buddy and I were making music our little drum machine was an SR-16 lol, another Alesis product, and a classic!
Sweetwater is the only music instrument vendor I know that throws candies in the shipping box lol. I've always had great interactions with the staff there- great bunch of people for sure.

Those SR-16's were sweet little machine if I remember correctly. I think that's the one I programmed a bunch of cool beats on back in the day - so I could jam to it on my brother's ARP. Loved that freaking keyboard!!!
Bro had an ARP? Sweet! I've only heard the software versions from a few companies- almost got an Korg ARP mini but it was something I wanted and didn't really need and when trying to downsize, buying new gear doesn't help lol.
The star of the show Rosie deserves the candy my man lol- she deserves the candy. Inspiration from love is a beautiful thing, and it usually produces beautiful results- you know something about that,
That Alesis Strike is niiiice man- there is something to be said for aesthetics adding to the desire to use an instrument; of course it isn't the most important thing and I won't avoid using anything just because it doesn't look as hot as say...a Strike module! The color LED is eye candy and the tactile faders for the individual sounds are always welcome. 1800 sounds, 136 kits, sampling, 12 trigger inputs, 8 outs to the mixer- it's loaded! Everything Alesis makes is pleasing to the ears and eyes in my experience and your baby Strike is no exception I'm sure.

That ARP kept me up all night - all the time. I couldn't stop messing with that thing! Those sounds!!! And that little Alesis drum machine sounded fantastic with it - and I could program the dickens out of that thing! So easy!
That was when a bunch of us moved to the Big City of Chicago and worked for Guitar Center. I went straight from being paid as a Monster to being a Drum tech/sales guy/drummer overnight. I didn't have any interest in computers then, so I hand painted all of our band posters for each show, took them to Kinkos and printed tones of them in color - people collected them! LOL Topless mermaids with wings with our "Wing of Steel" emblem, the date and time... each one was completely custom. I ended up carving a bunch of them out of various hardwoods as well. I couldn't hold onto them. I think people like topless mermaids with wings for some reason.
This amazing lady who sang Coke commercials helped me dress up as a super rock star and I got to hang out with top artists. The whole reason I weirded out from that whole scene is that, more then anything, I wanted a single girl that I hadn't found yet - and I didn't want to get pulled away from home - which that life does on a perpetual basis. It was hard to say No when it was being offered so teasingly. Pearl wanted my take on something fresh for the intro-drummer market. My manager was a Jazz guy - which is absolutely phenomenal to me, but Pearl, Tama, Zildjian, Paiste, all of them were really happy to see this young rocker step in and start selling to Everyone. Jazz guys tend to keep their gear through generations. Not so great when you want to make a bunch of sales.
I came up with the Tommy Lee Pearl Export with a deal for 200 of them. Guitar Center freaked out and sent them all over the country to their various stores. Eventually they had to send them all to me as I sold them like butter at the supermarket - and I'm not a salesmen! I just like to say: "Look at this Great thing!!!" but then also play it - show them... let them Hear!
That's how I feel about Daz 3d since I found it years ago. This place excites me - fills me with exuberance! Colors in Motion that I can put with my Music!!! :)

Years ago, my friend MATCreator, a Daz PA, came to me and asked if I could render some animations of a potential product. It was a Blast! I didn't want to interrupt the audience's eyes with subtitles for what was being loaded, so I made a song and put the subtitles into lyrics. Bummer that the product never made it off the ground, but the promo was a lot of fun!
Although it was a Daz Studio product, I did all of the promo rendering/animations in Carrara

Very cool. My journey within the musical arts played out differently but we have the same passion for sure. 12- 14 hour days are the norm when I work on a track. I wouldn't even stop to eat if it weren't for my wife lol. I always felt like I missed an opportunity as a music store salesman- I think I would have been great at it like you.
I always speak about gear passionately too because that's how I feel about it; I absolutely love learning and programming electronic instruments! I went to a private audio engineering college not to be an engineer but to fill the technical knowledge gaps I had at the time. On the Christmas eve of 2006, I was in the recording studio at school until 9:30 p.m. finishing up my term project lol- maybe not the best way to spend Christmas eve, but at that time the studio was my favorite place to be, and I was living on my own at the time so I wasn't late for dinner or anything lol.
As much as I'd enjoyed performing for an audience I always wanted to be the Wizard of Oz when it came to music which is why I stepped off the stage & delved into music production- it just makes me feel that 'something' I need to feel alive I guess...it's hard to explain really. The partying like-a rock-star life wasn't for me- after the show I was heading back home or to a hotel to call my girlfriend- it was all business for me, but my 2 other crew members loved 'that life', and you know what I'm talking about. Ultimately that life resulted in broken relationships, failed marriages and nothing good- life is what you make it, and they made their choices at the time.
Lol, a comeback may be on deck- one of my band-mates (and good friend) wants to do an album of electronic music so we'll see what happens- either way I'm staying busy doing my thing learning new art and soothing my soul. Keeping stress levels at an absolute minimum these days is a major priority for me. It's been 25 years since I've performed- not saying I wouldn't do it again, but the circumstances would have to be right. I still have an abundance of energy so an album definitely ain't out of the question lol.
Right now, I'm on the first rung of a very tall ladder of learning and it's getting more interesting every day. I'm still looking at all the combos of software I can use to achieve a desired result and it could get overwhelming if I allow it to lol. Unlike a week ago, I understand the tech a bit better so I'll just keep going and see what happens- it's been fun so far:) I'm just so grateful to have a bunch of passionate, talented artists to consult with when I feel I need to.

Spending my morning using Bone Minion to convert more of my legacy animation collection over to Genesis 8 Female.
One thing I love about doing this sort of stuff is that I get reacquainted with the bazillion motions I've collected over the years.
I have a few zillion done so far, only several bazillion left to go!
But if I ever need something that hasn't been transferred yet, I just go and do it - no big deal. Which is how I can on these kicks in the first place - something stirs in my imagination and there are several 'perfect collections' that might help to get me there - so the next morning I make coffee and load up Rosie with a Bone Minion! :)
I also need to spend a bit of time writing some new action music.

I just got home from playing the Alesis Strike Pro SE for the first time.
I went through every drumkit preset in the module, which I have. But there was an astounding difference - the drums/drumheads and cymbals - Amazing!!!
What a playing experience! Just... Wow!!!

It was my "Send Off" gig last night. Musician friends from all over came and took the stage as me and Joe, my new replacement, traded sets back and forth.
We used that Strike Pro SE! It was so cool.
Great music shared by great friends in a filled hall of fans. Hugs, kisses, tears, memories... I kept telling everyone that I'm not retiring from music, just the gigging live stage drummer life. After 44 successful years, I feel I deserve a break. It's very sad closing that important chapter in my life, but it also brings excitement for my next endeavor.
Like my Daz 3D call sign, my webpage title - the nickname given to me by my most extraordinary nephew - "Dartanbeck" is the name of my new band, which will be just me for the most part, performing everything - but I'm also hoping to get into the studio with some of my many good friends to have them make guest appearances within the music.
You should come up here and jam. It'll be fun and you'll Love Piranha North Studio!!!

In the bottom left of the first half of the video, the first scene not using my Starry Sky Iray says "Not Starry Sky Iray" and then it goes back to Starry Sky Iray, and Not again.
Notice how the starts look as the camera moves. "Not Starry Sky" is so obvious that it's just a 2D map of space, which tends to look wrong in animations
