[HELP] Daz 3D 4.8 Pro Freezes After Startup (Consider This Post Close)

R-O StudiosR-O Studios Posts: 99

Hi,

I'm having problems with my DAZ Studio but in this video will explains it all.

What says in video description......

This happens after I put the auto and duf files in my document folder in ''DAZ 3D'' folder in my new custom build PC. It worked fine in old PC, if there is any fix for this all help will be appreciated.

Edit: Just an edit to clarify on what happened while I am still having this problem what I did is. I unstalled Daz Installer Manager and Daz Studio 4.8 Pro it's self and reinstall both of them but that did not work and still having the same problem as seen in the video and also unstalled it again, then I thought maybe deleting the files from my "app data", C: drive and my ''public documents'' on my PC to see if it works or not and that also did not work either, so like I said if there is any steps or fix to help this problem I am having, it will be appreciated.

  • The video isn't very informative, though I can see that your content is not correctly installed from the generic icons with an exclamation mark. Please describe what you are seeing as a supplement to the video.

The content that was installed properly because I deleted it from my D: drive on my new PC. And on the video I'm just showing that it's frozen after it starts up, if you read my edit section above your post that will probably tell how this problem started in the first place for me, but what I know how this problem started I put the duf flies and auto-adapted folder and I had Daz Studio runing while that happened so by this time (12:48PM) I'm using Recuva to get file back to my documents the (C: drive) see if it can work normal as it sould.

  • So the UI loads but nothing then tresponds to clicks? Menus don't open, you can't switch panes by clicking on the tabs?

  • Can't do it as in the UI doesn't appear at all? OK, go to C:\Users\You\AppData\Roaming\DAZ3D\Studio 4, open the log file and scroll to the very end - what are the last half-dozen or so lines? (AppData is hidden by default, there's a check-box in the ribbon bar of Windows Explorer that will enable hidden files and folders.)

  • That's fairly well towards the end - mine just adds

There shouldn't be any start-up script loading, unless you had a previous install of DS 4, as that has been the default for some time. You could try removing the .dsx files from the same folder as the log file, just move them to a temp folder away from the Studio4 folder for now and try restarting Daz Studio.

My own 4.8 freezes up a lot, with NOT RESPONDING messages.

...A lot more than 4.6 did.

  • I took a another screenshot just in case if that in the log file.

Okay I'm going to try that.

Okay I just tried it and it did not work I have move the .dsx and the log to my D: drive but I have Daz Studio installed on my C: drive, and I have restarted Daz Studio and it's still having the same problem. I do not know a reinstall might help but I did that a lot of times and of course that did not work. I installed Windows 10 after my new PC was done being build so I don't know if using recovery might help, like going back before Daz Studio had this problem so I don't know what to do now.

  • DS is running for most people with Windows 10. I thought you'd already said what security software you are using but I can't see that now, so I will ask - what security software are youn uisng?

  • I am using Avast Free Antivirus.

  • Chck that its firewall is allowing local connections for DS and PostgreSQL or the DAZ Content Management Service, if you are still using Valentina. However, I would expect an issue there to show up earlier in the process.

  • I never got a firewall for Avast, I'm using Windows Firewall.

  • But I'll check it.

  • Well, the same applies - make sure it is allowing local connections for DS and the database engine (PosergreSQL or the DAZ Content Management Service).

How do I check the connections for it on Windows Firewall?

I just tried Daz Studio 4.9 public build and it works great and doesn't freeze like 4.8, maybe I should use that instead.

  • Never mind it froze.

I might or will restall Windows 10, because I don't know if anything else to fix Daz Stuido 4.8 or 4.9 on my PC right now but I think a restall might help it, and plus checked the advance settings on Windows Fire Wall and nothing was there for those two.

  • Reinstalling Windows without knowing what was wrong may only delay the reappearance of the issue - quickly if it was related to an update or to another application. Not that I can think of any other possible causes, but I would suggest opening a supor ticket before reinstalling and attaching your log file.

  • Okay I'll do that.

Okay I have created a support ticket and my log file is on it.

  • Is the support open all week 24/7 or only on weekdays?

    Ummm...yes.

Usually most of the activity is during 'normal' working hours on weekdays.

  • Oh okay, thanks.

Most of the things I've had tickets on have been handled on weekdays.  But I've had replies/responses over the weekend, too.  I would count those as exceptions, though and not the 'regular' behavior.

I as you can see I have different screenshots of the two log files from my two computers, is there a way to fix this for Windows Firewall or a for it step of some sort?

  • The first is using the old Valentina engine, the second PostgreSQL - if it's the Valentina-using one that is problematic try installing PostgreSQL
