Ugh. Yeah. I won't be hitting the store until that is no longer on the front page. There's enough politics right now that I'm incredibly burnt out from that I didn't need to see it here too.

    Right?

And the whole bundle is in bad taste. Founding Fathers outfit is nice, but I have no use for it. I don't even want to look at the store until this stuff is off the front page.

    This.

I have no interest in this bundle or these characters. That said, I don't agree with the notion that renders of politicians is a political render/message, at least in the ways that are normally restricted on forums and such.

You could have either figure signing a paper, or on an airplane, or shaking hands with someone, or at a debate, or golfing.
None of those are 'politically charged' in the sense that causes offense.

True but the promos putting Donnie in a superhero suit or Joey in a Patriots uniform does seem like a poltical statement

Or making them mow the lawn, empty the smelly container under the outhouse... Whatever one wants the 'story' to tell

But is the superhero outfit a positive or negative statement?

Although superheros are generally thought of as positive, it doesn't really matter as either interpretation is still a political statement.

If I saw a grown-up man walking in town in a superhero outfit, I would start looking for the men in white laugh

For obvious reasons this thread is being temporarily locked. After discussion, we trimmed up the thread of posts that were a bit to political and Richard made an announcment in regards to this release here. Thread is now reopened.

Even some of the promo images such as the main promo for the Presidents Pro Bundle seem to be a bit poltical to me. It will be hard to use a lot of the bundle without being political so that the images can be used on the forums and in the gallery.

Daz has started allowing nude promo images, and has always 9as dfined in the ToS) sold nude figures. Their site, they can choose to offer content that has restricted use on the forums or in the galleries.

Yeah, I've got mixed thoughts about that, too. If an image could get you banned or at the very least moderated and censured for posting it in the forums or galleries, it need not be a promo image. You either allow it, or you do not.

  • Sigh. Meanwhile I'm over here trying to use Daz to get away from reality...

  • This feature was just asking for it. DAZ has made a political statement and then repressed the reaction. Pretty dumb, and pretty repulsive for a serious subject. Personally, I can't even look at this site now until this is no longer featured.

At first I groaned and thought, "Oh man - not here too!"  And I dismissed the new figures in disgust.  Then my creative wheels started turning and now I am imagining Darth Donnie and Darth Joey lightsaber dueling and then the floodgates opened and I am thinking of all kinds of preposterous, non-political scenes I could use them in as satire, or more importantly, THERAPY.  At first I had a bitter taste in the back of my mouth from the psycho-vomit, but now I am grinning and I actually feel BETTER about it all - both in DAZtopia and the real world.  I'm gonna have some fun with this!  (The question will be can we share ANY renders ANYWHERE on DAZ?  Weird, I know, right?)

As core figures. That, as far as Daz figures go, is like the ultimate badge of approval.

It's not the first time in DAZ/Poserland that there are political figures. Back in 2008 Content Paradise released "Obama", "Hillary", "Bush" and "McCain". Here are two of them. :)

I thought I ewmembered an Obama release. Who is the guy on the right?

I said it in another thread, but DAZ did a very good job of not endorsing either candidate, not pointing out either of their views or flaws, and used neutral and light-hearted descriptions and imagery for the promos. Nothing says that you couldn't use them in non-political art here, like Gogger and others have said. If someone used LGBTQ content to make a hate image, that's on the user, not DAZ.

Everyone really needs to chill, it will be off the front page in a day or so.

edit: Daveso, I believe the guy on the right is supposed to be George W. Bush, although it looks more like Jeb Bush the more I look at it.

This was my reaction also. Therapy and satire. That said, "can we share ANY renders ANYWHERE on DAZ?"

Yeeeeees - but given their current positions it will be very hard to avoid being political, in the most basic, party-based sense, and given how strongly feelings are running over the USD election we will err on the side of caution.

Asking for a friend ;) - DO we just post images as usual and you will decide if they stay up, or do we pre-submit and ask for permission, or...?

You can just post - you can ask if you want, but it may take a while if a lot of people do that (and unless something is really over the line we won't hold it against you(r friend) if it does need removing).

As a heads up - the two characters do now have Editorial Licenses, purchasers should be getting a partial refund automatically and an offer of a full refund if they prefer.

As someone outside the USA, this release given the current situation, was in poor taste.

I noticed Donnie 9 doesn't come with an orange LIE option to replicate a self-tanned look.

Normally I stay positive and supportive in the rare times I post, but I can't help but agree with this sentiment. I spend way too much money in the store but I don't think I can visit the site until all the political stuff has cycled out and replaced by something that doesn't give me such a mix of anxiety and depression.

Not-germane digression: A couple of weeks ago I did a story which was unusual for me in having overtly political themes. (Don't worry, mods, no discussion of those is involved!) For this story I needed a character who was clearly not Trump but also clearly WAS Trump, if you get my meaning. Built him from a mash of several figures, and made him quite pale and blotchy. Then realized he wouldn't want to appear that way in public/on television. So I gave him a "TV Skin" geoshell which was fairly orange. But it was only a partial geoshell -- face and neck. I assumed he didn't bother to use way too much bronzer on the parts that were covered by his suit. :P

Why do both characters need the Genesis 9 Essesntials Expansion?  I don't have it yet.
