Still can't find old daz content folder

I tried to work on this a while ago but got distracted and lost the thread.
Recently got a new Mac with a 256 SSD, which in my work flow plan is only used to process data. All the resulting work is stored on a 5 Tb external drive. I installed DS4.7. It does not have anything visible in the content folder at the moment. I want to guide it to the external drive to see that as the location for all of the relevant files. How do i do that?

Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager
The Add button should allow you to navigate to where the content is.
Somehow I think I am misunderstanding. I don't see "preferences" after "edit".
On a Mac it's just Preferences.
Thanks, that seems to have worked. Should the installer be seemless now? I want to download all of the new content I recently bought.
It located the content. However when I tried to download content using the installer it still tried to put it on the native drive. How do I direct the installer to where to install the downloaded congtent?
In Daz Install Manager, click the gear (settings) icon in the upper right, on the Downloads tab you can set where to put the downloded zip files, on the Installation tab you can specify the install path by clicking the + in the lower left and adding a new install path -- make ure you set Current to the new path.
I got one to work Then when I tried installing again, it did not work. There seems to be a disconnect between where I think the files are and where they actually are.
Can you post these 2 screenshots:
1) In DS, Preferences > Content Library > Content Directory Manager, expand the "DAZ Studio Formats" and "Poser Formats"
2) In DIM, on Ready to Install tab check the "Show Details" box in the lower right
Sure
In DIM, Content is still set to install to the default path. Go to Settings > Installation, click the + sign in the lower left, and add the path you want your content, then switch the Current path to your new path.
Where is the "settings" in DIM? Or was that DS?
The gear in the upper right
That is set where I want it in the external drive, "primary storage drive".
Not sure about the placement of the 32 bit.
Those top two lines are the paths for installing software, for installing content you need to click the + in the lower left, add a path, nd then set "Current:" to the new path.
When I did that I received the prompt below. Some of the files already installed include things I have created and saved. I don't want to lose those. How should I proceed? How do I select the folder to add all of the content I have purchased but not destroy the content I have created?
It won't be a problem unless there are files with the same name and relative path, but you can always create a seprate folder to be safe.
The top slots labelled "64 bit Software" and "32 bit Software" are where you want DIM to install programs. Do you really want those install paths?
I have no idea if there are downsides to those paths. I do know that I need them to be installed on an external disk.
Now that they are installed on the external disk however, there does seem to be some issues. Example; All of my content files were reinstalled into the "2016 Additions" folder. However they don't seem searchable. Note I searched "Prison Cell Block 'K'" which the software recognized in a drop down menu. However that content is not revealed. How do I get content I search for by name and find to become useful?
Can you post the screenshots of Content Directory Manager and DIM Installation tab as they stand now?
Will this work?
The "2016 Additions" content folder isn't listed in DS, so it isn't looking in that location.
How do I get it to look in that location? One I get the software to locate it I plan to use that knowledge to tidy up all of the files so everything is in the right place and DIM can work seamlessly.
In Content Diectory Manager, click on "Daz Studio Formats" and the Add button on the left becomes active; add it to "Poser Formats" also.
How do I tell where the Poser files were deposited?
Any reason why these files are not showing up?
What is the full path to one of those files?
Looks like this in the finder. I doesn't show up in DS.
You are looking in Daz Studio Formats...anything in a Runtime folder will most likely be found in Poser Formats.
I have looked in both. They don't appear. Here is the DS pathway in the finder.
