Works great with reality and Luxrender, so it will probably work.
Below are Daz Studio iray renders of MRL Hedera Bane by Mihrelle for V4 from Renderosity applied to the shape of
http://www.daz3d.com/victoria-7-hd-add-on
Then I have applied http://www.daz3d.com/jm-humanshader-for-iray to the skin.
Thank you. Not coming up in the search engine!![surprise surprise](http://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/omg_smile.png)
Well no wonder... I own it! lmao
These products work great! I posted on the other Legacy UV thread about my experiments with Legacy UVs, Iray skin converter, and a V4 morph converter I found on Deviant Art. Post is here, with pics: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/79141/legacy-uvs-for-genesis-3-commercial/p4
Another try: http://www.daz3d.com/zavia-red-martian-princess-for-v4
on Genesis 3 Female with different shapes dialled in. Daz Studio iray render.
Thanks FSMCDesigns - I purchased it and after a bit of getting used to it...works like a charm in Octane Standalone! Fiona V4 looks great on Gen 3!
Thanks for the info on the morph converter. I had no idea it existed. Bought it today and happily transferring all of my V4 and G2F characters to go with Cayman's fantastic products.
You're welcome! I stumbled upon it on a search and have been very happy with it so far!
hi, i have a problem, i wanted to do an old g2f OC in g3f, using the transfer morphs feature in Daz; then i load Legacy Uvs to use her old skin, works perfectly loads the skin and everything correct, problem comes after save the project and open it again and the legs and shoulders looks smaller than the morphed body, anyone else have this issue? or any1 knows how to fix it?
I have Cayman's product but I guess I need to convert all my V4 textures to DUF. I purchased a batch converter from Draagonstorm, but realize that is for G2. Will those converted textures work with Cayman's product? Are those G2 DUFs really G2 UVs now or are they still V4 UVs but DUF, usable on G2. So confused...
This looks like the morphs on the geografts have been set to zero for some reason. If you look at the hidden parameters for the geografts under Actor you should be able to locate the morphs and reset them. Exactly why this has happened in this case I cannot say - usually these morph values will be preserved.
Draagonstorm's batch convertor should be OK for using on the Legacy UVs for Genesis 3. They are simply material files for V4 textures in DUF format and can be used on G2 or G3.
They're still just V4 UV maps as far as any other figure is concerned, and will apply to anything that's set up to take the V4 UV set. You'll get almost the same result if you transfer a V4 skin directly to Genesis 1, save it as a materials preset, and apply that .duf to the G3F with cayman's maps, with the notal exception that going via Genesis will lose the eye reflection texture on the way since Genesis doesn't have a separate materials surface for that. As a side bonus, the G3F female anatomy add on will also now take the V4 UV textures when applied at the same time.
Some other things to be aware of: 1 - if you're going to upgrade the skins to Iray or make other major changes to the base texture using shaders, it's much simpler to do it while it's on a G1 or G2F than on G3F, 2 - the transfer of textures isn't eaxactly 1-1 on the lower half of the body, I discovered this while transfering a Skin Builder skin with a bikini tan overlay and found that while the tanlines for the top of the body had transfered perfectly, the bottom ones had disappeared, and 3 - once you've finished applying the textures to G3F, make sure that you've un-selected all the geografts in the scene tab before applying a preset pose. If you don't, the pose can apply quite differently to the grafts from the rest of the figure and you end up with something that looks like parts of G3F have been put through a taffy stretcher.
Thanks for that info.. I'm doing an experimental comic with characters that I created in Poser and I'm trying to recreate them on G3 with Cayman's product and Gen X and do part in Poser and part in DS and hopefully have the characters look pretty much the same across platforms... I will be posing them a lot so thanks for the heads up re: deselecting the geographs. Sounds like a mistake I could easily make!
Hope someone can help! I converted a bunch of V4 textures to G2F. Can I then use the Legacy UVs for Genesis 3: G2F to convert them to G3F, or do I need to have Legacy UVs for Genesis 3: V4?
Lisa
Lisa, if you mean you converted the textures with something like Blacksmith3D's Texture Transformer then I think you can use the Legacy UVs for Genesis 3: G2F to put them onto G3F. If you mean you have converted the material presets to .duf format using one of Draagonstorm's Skins Converters, then you will have to use Legacy UVs for Genesis 3: V4. It makes sense to go with the V4 version anyway seeing as you have the original V4 textures, and converting to .duf is not that onerous.
Awesome! Thank you very much. I used Draagonstorm's V4 Skins Batch Converter. So I'll go ahead and get the Legacy UV's for Genesis 3: V4.
hi , guys im new to legacy and i have no idea what im doing , im trying to use v4 skins on g3 i have batch converter i have v4 uv for g2 and legacy's uv for g3 ,v4 but i cant get it to work , im such a noob , i have my v4 skins in duf format , i used the prepare g3 from script aswell as the the apply gf2 uv some parts go yellow then what do i do? i add the duf file but i cant get the g2 uv to work on g3 im missing a few steps can someone help me out with the correct steps this is getting frustrating lol im sure its easy i want to use this so bad please your help would be appreciated
Hi, I've just started using this too.... and finally figured it out...it's too simple once you get it right.;)
You have your V4 skins converted to duf
Load Genesis 3 Female
Click on the Prepare G3
...and this is where you have the yellow zones
Now
Make sure Genesis 3 is selected
Click on your Surfaces Tab
Click Genesis 3 - Surfaces
Now Load your converted V4 duf textures
and then click the Apply V4 UVs and the yellow zones disappear.
One extra thing...I've found it best to apply iray to V4 before saving to duf as it's easier and better results.
Enjoy...it's a wonderful product:)
So i own all these sets except for the latest one, would it be pointless to get Blacksmith3d's texture transformer since they both accomplish the same thing just differently? Are there any reason to have both?
If you wanted to add geografts around the area's where caymen studio's products add its own geografts this will cause issues, and you would be better off having a "normal" G3F skin to apply, in which case the converter from Blacksmith comes in handy. Also, if for any reason you wanted to put a V4/G2F skin on G3M, Caymen's products can not to that, and you would need to use Blacksmith to convert to G3F first, and then put that onto G3M using Slosh's G3F UVs for G3M.
Personally, I prefer to use Caymen's products, since if the skin had multiple maps (for makeup, face paint, tattoos etc), like they often do, you would need to convert each individually using Blacksmith's product, which would be very tedious.
Oh never thought of the geograph things, one reason I wanted to buy it is the Betty and Stan textures when converted to G2 and using V3digitimes smart converter the texture looks great compared to when using the generation 4 converter it doesn't work well, the multiple maps I guess I'm kinda use to from using the texture converter inside Daz so I'm guessing the process will similar. But other textures I've tried are similar. I love Cayman's products though.
I have both and I haven't really used the Blacksmith3d version since the first Caymen products came out. It's nice to have it as a backup, but once you get the hang of it, you can load the geografts plus all the UVsets and the "anatomical elements", if you're using those, then start popping on skins in just a few seconds.
I bought the Legacy UV's today and I tried to convert the skin texture from the V4 Hazai to the Genesis 3 without success. I need to use a work-a-round to get it really work. Here the steps I go through:
1. I created .duf-iles from the original .pz-files. One set in 3Delight, one set with Iray shaders.
2. I load the Genesis 3 Female
3. I set the GeoGrafts manually (Prepare GF3 script doesn't work. I only get an error message: Could not open file: File does not exist. In this case, I have to close DAZ Studio with the Task Manager.)
4. I delete the existing textures on the figure with clicking on Start Surfaces. (Without this, nothing happens, when I use the .duf-files of the V4 textures.)
5. I use the .duf-files of the V4 3Delight texture and click on the Apply V4 UVs. (All parts of the Genesis 3 are using the V4 texture now, except the GeoGrafts.)
6. I have to set the textures on the GeoGrafts manually. If I want to use Iray instead of 3Delight, I have to convert all GeoGraft parts to Iray with using Iray Uber Base first and then I have to set the textures manually.
Now my question: do I something wrong using the script?
When I'm reading the answers here, for all other people it works like a charme. I'm using DAZ Studio Version 4.8.0.59. Should I use another version of DAZ Studio?
It would be great to get a tipp. Maybe there is a trick how can I work it for me like it works for all others. Thanks.
P.S. Sorry for my bad english. I'm from Germany and my school days have been a long time ago. :-)
Andrakis, have the files been installed in the correct place? In your Content Library they should be in "People > Genesis 3 Female > Anatomy > Legacy UVs". If they are not this may account for the script not running properly.
Also, when it says "File does not exist" could you tell me the name of the file?
If you do everything manually, make sure you run the "Legacy_Surfaces" script on G3F first, and then you must have G3F and all the geografts selected in the Scene tab before loading the V4 textures, then everything should load correctly, including the shaders.
Ok, I changed the absolute path in your Prepare GF3 script. Now, it works!!!![laugh laugh](http://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/teeth_smile.png)
Thanks for your reply
Does anyone have the url for the "Legacy UVs For Genesis 3: V4" item?
I can find every other UV item for using M4 but not for V4.
It is available at Renderosity. Cayman Studios was not a PA here yet when it was released.
