Just in case anybody's even remotely interested, this month marks five years since Louie first appeared in these forums. Don't even ask me how many renders I've done with this guy. Music once said it was over 100 and I'll take his word for it. Geeze...maybe it's time t' retire...
Loks good. Never retire Da Real Man. He's too much fun.
For some reason the link for the Furniture Set 3 did not want to work for me. But you have more than enough freebies to qualify.

"Almost" only counts in horse shoes. You made it with a day to spare. It wouldn't be the same without Da Real Man entry. I love the stories that accompany his images.
Hey, Lord Ganthor, finally an entry from you. I've missed your story.
I really like Louie and his friends even though reading the stories is sometimes hard because of his accent. So please, don't retire him. You can take a break and do something else every once in a while if you are out of ideas but let him stay. Please?
Very nice graduation photo you have there.
Best wishes

Beautiful picture, divamakeup . I love the atmosphere and the sky is fantastic, especially after postwork. Nice lighting as well.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Chohole. You're in my thoughts and prayers. I really don't know what I'd do or how I'd cope if I lost my husband. I can't imagine what you're going through - you could maybe take some time off and just relax a bit. You do so much here, but if you took some time away for yourself to relax I don't think anyone could possibly blame you. *hugs*
Thank you! It took a lot longer and more work than I thought it would to set up the lighting and get all that right, but I am glad it turned out ok. Thank you for the lovely comment! :)
Very nice picture there divamakeup ! :)
Unfortunately* I have one final entry...

(The big triangular 'Executor' spacecraft was also a freebie but I can't recall where it came from. So I added a dalek. :)
Whaddaya mean "that's just a randomly loaded bunch of sci-fi freebies ?" !
It's art I tell ya, it's art !
I went back and changed the link on set 3 and got it to work. I really dislike how the new forums work compaired to the way the "old" one worked. It's like all those weird spaces I keep getting when I list things. Live and learn, I guess...
My entry hasn't been approved yet, it's making me nervous since we only have two hours left of June.
I'll try to check it right now. Kismet2012 normally checks, but perhaps she is asleep at this hour (I should be ).
I was unable to verify the Girl's Necklace and Terrain:
Anyway, even without those two, you still have enough valid items.
ENTRY ACCEPTED
Please move to Entry Thread.
Yup, it looks like art.
I'm trying to validate this entry, but I have a couple concerns. I hope you can resolve them in time before the contest is closed.
All of the links check out OK, but I'd like to see the questions above resolved before the entry is approved.
Thanks, Barbult! Yeah the tarrain is the pedestal (sorry I should have made that more clear). The necklace, I'm pretty sure came from that pack but after redownloading that jewlery pack I don't see it there. It's listed as from that artist though in my runtime folders, so I'm not sure what happened. I've never bought any jewelery so I know it's not a bought item, I'll see if I can track down the right link. Perhaps the artist modified the jewelery pack or posted a different jewelery set elsewhere like Rendo. I'll see if I can track down the propper link, but it's good to know that it's approved reguardless (just in case I can't find it).
This challenge has woken up my muse (who's been asleep for a few months) and given me loads of fun already, so I'm not overly bothered if this entry doesn't get approved in time (or at all!).
The big planet who's horizon the dawn is breaking over is indeed the globe - I simply made the base, cradle and hoop invisible. I think that being at the edge with the extra wide FOV I used distorts the round shape (it's not flat on the bottom, as would be clear if the dalek hadn't got in the way!). And it appears that I've fallen foul of my own usage rights - that's a first ! So I've added the relevant credit to the post.
The starfield is a DIY shader that I knocked up a few years ago, and it's applied to the environment sphere prop from my worldball freebie ( http://www.sharecg.com/v/80423/gallery/11/Poser/Poser-WorldBall-Version-5-Update-ONLY ) - I didn't include that because, well, I forgot.
Having been a participant of the Freebie Challenge in the past I know one of the hardest parts can be keeping track of the freebies being used. Tracking down links and keeping track of everything used in a render once inspiration hits can be a challenge.
I am not sure where Barbult is at the moment and due to time I will accept your entry.

Thanks for the updates, 3Dcheapskate, and thanks for finalizing the acceptance, Kismet2012. I think everyone got in under the deadline now.
(I see now that the planet is not flat on the bottom. That dalek tricked me. They tend to do that kind of thing.)
Contest Closed
Good luck everyone
Dorsey, since you have asked for a critque I will give you one. As I told Diva, these are just my opinions and can be followed or not. Attached is your image with the intersections identified as blue dots. I think that your camera angle is a good one. You have the focus on the part of the story that you want the viewer to see. I know when I saw this image the McD jingle popped into my head. So I think your composition is okay but I think it could be better by using the diagonal points, upper right and lower left to better advantage. If I were playing around with this scene I would move the girl back to put the bag closer to the interest spot. I would also see if I could get the old man's hat in the lower left spot. This would introduce additional tension to the image and make the act of kindness more intense. With that established I would consider how the color distribution is going to be. There are three spots of red, their order of what is seen first, second and thrid are the hat, the fire hydrant and the McD logo. To me the hydrant should be just a bit more less noticable. I would try changing the color to say a more muted red or move it more out of the scene to reduce the amount of red seen and maybe that will shift the order to the hat, the bag and then the hydrant. I think I would retexure the bag and try and see if I could increase the amount of red. I noticed that the current design of a McD bag has a red strip behind the arches which would be a perfect foil. I think I would also see if I could get some red in the far right side of the image. A red cup or wade of paper that has red on it. I would be doing all of this because I want the viewer's eye to travel all the way across the image. Seeing my focal point of the story but making sure the viewer sees the whole picture to see all of the details of the story. Using the red makes that happen. I think I would add some grease marks to the old man's pants, grunge them up a bit more. I would also see if I could introduce some dead plant material such as leaves or grass along the curb. Maybe adding some more trash with the plants. Adding these little details are like putting the decorations on the cake. You want just a little more detail to help tell the story but not so much that all the viewer sees are those details and thus minimizing the impact of the intial message of the story.
So there you go, my friend. I do so enjoy seeing the renders that you make and please do not consider the size of the critque as an indication of the quality of your image. The comments I have given you are purely my opinion. What you have created is a good piece.
DollyGirl, thanks for going to all that trouble being such a nag. JUST KIDDING! I really appreciate it and totally agree with every suggestion. I considered more detail but veered toward simplicity instead, no doubt to the detriment of the image's impact. What I DIDN'T take into consideration at all was the play of colours, so that's a valuable lesson right there.
(I don't eat fast food, however, so next time I need some research done on McDonald's, you'll be hearing from me.)
Yes I am a nag and proud of it too. I don't eat at Yuckyville either but no excuse for you young man. The internet is your friend. I did not realize just how popular we as a human speices have for our food bags! Hah!
In all seriousness, though your render is really good just the way it is. My suggestions were merely things that "might" make it better. I thank you for letting me flex my brain muscle and remember some of what I learned in art class and to pass some of that knowledge along to the readers of this thread.
Okay Pete, you gave me the go ahead, so here goes. I have attached your image with the infamous blue dots. Of your two submittals I like this one the best. The play on the theme is excellent and adds a sense of fun, just as you wished. I think your coloring on this image is more interesting too. So because you did this one for fun I will be coming at this render as if I were the artist making it and what I would do.
As Szark would tell me over and over again when I was participating in the new user contest is "Dolly you gotta be aware of your framing". With that always on my mind, (you see Szark made a lasting impression on me) I am looking through the camera at this scene and I ask myself, am I centered. Is there the same space on the left, right? Is there the same space top and bottom? From the current position of the camera my answer would be oh darn, it is not. I need to move it to the right to make the three zombies centered in the window and I would move the camera down to move some of the empty space on top of the image to the bottom of the image below Dawn's toes. That would be all I would do. (Except turning off HER's lower left leg to get rid of the poke through and maybe moving the right side HIM above the ground) I like the lighting. The interaction between the characters adds to the fun. Color control is good. (For those interested, Pete uses the color black and dark shadows to center the focus on the action of Dawn waking up and the zombies starting their walk). Love the fog and blur in the background. Run the render and call it a wrap.
So for those of you that are maybe questioning why didn't she have him move his character closer to the interest points? I say that the rule of thirds is a "guideline". There are many ways to bring focus to the story that an image is trying to tell. Pete chose symmetry by using color (dark in the center, light on either side), multiple same characters (2 HIMs) and poses (the HIMs' eyes point to the center of the image). The point to really make, is as an artist we need to be aware that a focus is needed and once you decide what the focus is then use the tricks of the masters to make that happen, through color, lighting, action and location within the image. And I have learned that the more tricks you use, the better your image will be.
Thank you! A good reminder of a rule I always forget - put any 'finished' render to one side for a day, and then come back and look at it with a more critical eye. If I'd done so then maybe I'd've spotted the bad cropping on the right/bottom edges, the boot pokethrough, and the floor-embedded foot.
I see that your brain wisely ignored the third ! ;o)
I'm about to turn 63. I love you.
Unless you visit Facebook during a US presidential election year.
