I always hated the older items like hair and characters that would split all the textures from the items and list it in the pose category. Sometimes the folder names were even inconsistent to the item grrr. I actually don't like the poser content split from Daz. In the studio it is all the same to me. I don't care what software it is designated all I care about is what item it is and what it is for. I want all my textures at least in a sub folder of the related product. Screw splitting them up!
Yeah, that's what I'm currently doing, bringing all that stuff together under the same folder. My Poser folder's Millennium Subdragon folder is SHINYHAPPY.
What I wonder...
You know how some installs have those DAZ files mixed with Poser files, so DAZ studio picks DAZ settings when it loads items, instead of Poser stuff.
Can I move those files (.dsb and whatnot) to DAZ side, remove Poser files, and have it all working OK? I frankly would prefer to Poser -> library -> * folders as neat as possible...
I haven't even started to arrange mine yet. I'm pretty new to arranging stuff. But I wouldn't touch anything in the actual runtime folders. I'd only move things in the Daz program itself. I will play around with arrangement later in the week perhaps. I not home yet.
I would like to merge my poser and Daz stuff too. As I said, I don't care about what type of file it is. I just care about what item it is.
The only place where I mess about is in "library" -- everything else I'm leaving alone under "Runtime" (Geometry, textures etc). I haven't *knocks on wood* screwed up too badly yet...
Edit: that said, I seriously appreciate it when the installer has Poser separate and DAZ separate installers, so I don't need to tear my hair out in frustration when I first need to hunt the item from Poser directory, and then go to DAZ directory to apply the BASE texture to the soddin' item, instead of clicky-clicking the item in DAZ directory and it loading handily without further ado...
Agreed.
Yeah, try Kit bashing. It's fun, and it doesn't cost any money because you try combining what you already have to make different things.
...I do that a lot. Sets by Stonemason and Jack Tomalin are really good candidates as you can them break up or use various props and segments of their larger sets. I've also done a lot of mix and match with clothing as well. Admittedly, Genesis makes this a lot easier especially with 4.5 Pro as it has the Transfer Utility (much better than Autofit as it also works on footwear, gloves and hats/helmets).
Fabricator and the Mach Pack add on are also a great investment as they include both surface textures and weave bump maps which let you change clothing textures with just a couple clicks. Fabricator also includes a blank user defined tile which allows one to apply other seamless texture tiles not included.
...and for a quick fix, the Poke Away utility (I think it's still only 50¢ - confirmed) is a good tool to have. It sort of works like the old "hide body part" but slightly "deforms" the area selected using a variable slider control rather than just "on/off".
...hmmm, this give me a wicked Idea...
...true freebies are not the culprit as some have suggested to me. They all come as Zips and wilt it takes a bit more effort, I have full control of where everything goes. So. I don't get "useless folders with ReadMe files and Templates or misplaced Data files cluttering up my runtime, that only occurs with the .exe installers.
The only things that cannot be messed with are the Geometry and Texture files, Those need to go to their assigned locations so that when loading content you don't end up with a lot of "cannot find [Geometry/Texture file]"errors. I think it was the Woodland Playset 1 for which the installer had a bug that inserted a broken pathname for the textures.
time to spell brew more cawffee, or nap time. or both
did more organizin and fummaries.
most of the critters from poser hav the obj files in the characters folder. moved most to geometries and update cr2s paths.
Carolshoppes, LB, and Maclean.
Jeff Fa Fa on TV last night, Minding the Monsters. Fun was had by me.
I have a question.
Yes, you can move those DS scripts outside of Runtime and remove the Poser files.
I always install to dummy content folders so I can see what's what before moving them to my real content folders, whether it's installers or zips.
I have lots of answers: yes, no, 47, none of the above, and no comment
What was the question?

What was the question?
Okay what is this? It is a little malicious program that adds little scripts that cause the computer to do something. The program also tries to get itself on other computers.
I am trying to think of a better way to ask the question but there is someone doing loud yard work and my roommate is talking about something not related to the question I have.
Actually I am trying to think what to call something that goes into a person's mind and causes them to do bad things without knowing about it. Having the people hurt the ones they love. Then find a way to get someone else infected with the same thing.
I am thinking of having it transmit through telepathy. One does not have to be a telepath to get this thing. Maybe it gives the infected temporary telepathy in order to spread it around more.
Sounds like a subliminal message of some sort.
