Thank you!
Please stop catching me with PC+ prices, as I'm not a PC member !!
Thank you.
(Apologies for the German language, I can't really express it in English.)
@AndyS, Turn those alerts off until the non-PC+ prices are working. Either that or turn off every DAZ-Deals option, choose "unsubscribe" from every email, and uninstall the DAZ-Deals extension from your browser. No one is forcing these alerts on you; you opted in.
+1
This is something that these people are doing for the community - for free. You can't complain that it's not "perfect" or just to YOUR liking. If you don't like it, opt out. No one is forcing you and complaining about something that A) is 100% free and B) that no one is FORCING you to participate in, just smacks of gross entitlement.
To be fair, I think there might be a little language barrier going on here.
Dana
An update on why I keep saying that non-PC+ prices for the price history are coming "soon", and why they are not yet showing.
The amount of data required to display the price history charts is HUGE. Prices can change several times throughout the day, so we are talking about MILLIONS of lines of raw data. Add non-PC+ prices and we're doubling the amount of data, adding another couple millions of lines of raw data.
I was not planning on displaying two charts, simply because of this huge data requirement. In January, I was convinced that there are quite a few non-PC+ users who use the addon, and displaying the chart for them, showing non-PC+ prices could be useful. So I started recording data for non-PC+ prices as well. This is an ongoing process.
To actually display the chart, there needs to be a meaningful amount of data. And by meaningful, I mean at least a month, but I'm going for roughly 35 days, so the longer timeframe actually IS longer to start with, even if only by a few days. We'll reach this 35-day-mark in about two weeks.
Since the extension can already determine whether I own all the items in a bundle, perhaps there could be a preference that hides those bundles instead of just greying them out on an item's product page.
Don't bother managing this through additional backend store scraping on your end, make the extension smart:
The extension's local storage includes a timestamp.
When a pageload runs DD's contentscript, it checks to see if the current time is later than that timestamp.
If it is, run the following function:
This prevents the extension from rechecking a bundle known to already contain owned items, limits client/store thrashing, eventually populates the hidden items and continues to check as new bundles are created, with no overhead on your server.
@Ati, has something happened to your site? The price history graphic on store pages is'nt showing, and says "civilisationhunt.com refused to connect".
Yeah, our provider's messed something up. They're already working on it. Depending on how much they messed up, there might be some false notifications being sent out when things come back online.
Ok no probs. :) Just wasn't sure if it was a problem with your site or something screwy with me.
And it should be back to normal. Let me know if something's still acting up.
It's back! Yay!!
One thing I have been meaning to ask about - I have this item on wishlist http://www.daz3d.com/xiang and every single day I receive an email saying "items on your wislist are on sale" and it's ALWAYS this one item. It comes in an email on its own, and then I'll receive an email later on about other items on my wishlist. I'm really curious why I am receiving an email about that one sole product.
I'll look into that after I get something to eat.
No hurry, Ati. It doesn't really bother me at all. I was just curious why it happens.
I did a small tweak. Please let me know if it solved the issue, or if I need to get a bigger hammer. :)
Everything really is a nail /nod
v2.0.5 changes
Lots of changes are coming in the next version of the addon, which will be rolled out pretty soon. Chrome version will probably come first, followed by the rest of the browsers a little later.
"Only show WishList" filter
What it does: An advanced version of the Wishlistify+ bookmarklet. This lets you filter a category page to only show you the items that you have in your wishlist. This can be the main shop page, an artist page, or a sales page.
How it works: A new checkbox is added to the filter list, called "Only show WishList". Checking this checkbox will filter the displayed products to only show the ones that are in your wishlist. Unlike the bookmarklet, it keeps the "Only show PC+" checkbox, so you can use both at the same time, only showing you PC+ items that you have in your wishlist. Unchecking the checkbox will display all items in the category again. (Please note that when unchecking this checkbox, the "Hide Items I Own" checkbox is automatically checked!)
Tip: Navigate to a vendor's page to list their wishlisted items. Navigate to any category page to only list wishlisted items from that category.
"Only show owned" filter
What it does: This option lets you filter a category page to only show you the items that you already own. This can be the main shop page, an artist page, or a sales page.
How it works: A new checkbox is added to the filter list, called "Only show owned". Checking this checkbox will filter the displayed products to only show the ones that you already have. Unchecking the checkbox will display all items in the category again. (Please note that when unchecking this checkbox, the "Hide Items I Own" checkbox is automatically checked!)
What is this good for? First of all, it can give you a nice overview of what products you own. Navigate to the main shop page, check this checkbox, and flip through your items. Nice thumbnail, productname, just like you are used to before buying the product. Its second main feature is to list your products in any given category. Let's say you want to see what room interiors you have. You navigate to the corresponding category, in this case, it would be "Places and Things" + "Structures" + "Interiors". Click on "Only show owned", and poof, there you have it, all the interiors that you already own. Same for hairs, vehicles, buildings, basically anything that exists as a Daz category. You can also see what products you have from a given vendor. Navigate to their store, click on "Only show owned", and there's your list.
"Sort by discount" filter
What it does: This sort filter sorts the displayed products based on their current discount, highest discounts first.
How it works: Go to any page with products (main shop page, category, vendor page, sales page), and sort by "% off". It's as simple as that. :)
Why is 40% bigger than 41%? You will sometimes see that the displayed discount is not correctly in order. 40% off may show up as a higher discount than 41% off. This is because of the rounding of numbers Daz does. That 41% off is not actually 41% off, but 40% off, like the rest of the items in that range. The addon sorts based on the actual discount, not the displayed one.
On your wishlist page: This may not make sense on your wishlist page since all PC+ items will show up at the top with their huge discounts. (That is, if you are a PC+ member, of course.) To make it usable on your wishlist page as well, we've added a new filter there:
This hides PC+ items from your wishlist, making the "sort by % off" list a lot more meaningful.
Extra data downloaded to your browser: This feature can only work if your browser is able to calculate the discounts for all items, even items that are not yet shown. To do this, it needs to know the full price of all products. This is not something Daz provides by default, so a list with the full prices of all products is periodically downloaded from our server (civilizationhunt.com). This data is cached in your browser and is only refreshed once every 8 hours. If you do not want to allow this data to be downloaded to your browser, then this feature will not work. To disable this feature, go to the options of the addon, and uncheck the feature called "Filter for wishlisted and owned items + "% off" sort filter." This will disable the above two features as well because they work in a similar fashion, and are therefore added as one piece of code. Note that this is only data download, no data is being sent to the server.
Software filter
What it does: This feature hides all of the products from the store that are for software that you are not interested in. Let's say, for example, that you do not use Vue, and do not want to accidentally purchase products that are only for Vue. You tell the addon that you are not interested in Vue-only items, and the addon automatically hides them for you! Let's say you are not interested in Poser-only items. You can hide them. Or you are a Poser user and are not interested in items that are for Daz Studio only, and will not work in Poser. You tell the addon to hide all DS-only items.
How it works: This filter relies on public data provided by Daz. That's the "Compatible Software:" list on each product page. If this value is inaccurate, then you will get inaccurate results.
Although the items are hidden from you, they are NOT added to your "hide items" list. If you have hidden something, and want to get it back, simply go to the options page of the addon, and check the software in question. To display everything, check all software. Note: you will not be able to uncheck the "unknown" option. Items that are not categorized yet, will always show up.
The items are only hidden from the Daz category and sales pages for now. They are not hidden from the e-mail notifications. This might be a future feature.
Extra data downloaded to your browser: This feature can only work if your browser knows which product is for which software. Although we could load every single product for you in the background to create this list, that would pretty much kill your browser, so we have a list that has all this information. This list is periodically downloaded from our server (civilizationhunt.com). This data is cached in your browser and is only refreshed once every 8 hours. If you do not want to allow this data to be downloaded to your browser, then this feature will not work. To disable this feature, EITHER uncheck the main "Hide items" option in the addon options page OR make sure all software is checked in the software list. If any one of them is unchecked, this feature will be active and will download this extra list from our server. Please note that with this option being enabled, extra data may be SENT to our server, if you have the wishlist notifications turned on. Additional data being sent: the list of software that you are not interested in. This data is not currently used, but is already in the addon, so we don't have to come out with a new version when we add this feature to the notifications as well.
Change the way "Total value" is calculated
Since the "Sort by discount" filter needs the full price of the products, we can now display the actual full price of your products. Previously this showed the current value, which is the price data Daz provides. The Total value is almost always higher than the current value since there are usually some kinds of sales going on.
When the full price data is available, you will now see 3 data displayed on the order history page (if you have this feature enabled), instead of the previous 2. Full price value, current value, and total spent.
Please note that if you disable the "Sort by discount" filter, then the fullprice data will not be available, and thus the fullprice value will not be displayed.
Note that both the fullprice value and current value are only estimates! They do not include all items, most notably the game developer licenses.
What if some of the new features are simply not there?
Great Plugin. Here is a great idea for this plugin. Have a hide Daz Connect items
Wait for 2.0.6, as that may be the version release this requested feature shows up.
Yeah, we want to get this out now.
But since this already has the "Software filter", it's only a matter of getting all the info on encrypted items into a usable form, and it will be added. Stay tuned. :)
Gentle reminder, sort wishlist items to top of a vendor page or wishlist (i.e., no page with a carousel at the top):
$("i.fd-favorite").closest("li.item").prependTo($("li.item").parent());
All of these are coming in the next version: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/2071786/#Comment_2071786
It worked! I no longer receive an email every day about it. :d Thank you!
v2.0.5 just hit the streets! Well...for Chrome at least...Firefox and Opera are en route pending moderation.
Here's the newess:
Huge thank you to @Ati who did all the heavy listing on this update!
I was just thinking how nice it would be to sort by percentage off! You guys are magic!
Sort by percent off doesn't work for me (or I don't understand what it should do).
Reload the page. It needs the data it gets on the first load.
It's not working for me either. I've tried reloading the pages as you suggested and it still doesn't work. I hope it's something that can be fixed - having the ability to sort by percent off would be AWESOME! :)
Edit - I tried it on my Wish List page and it works on the Wish List! :D Yay!! :D
It should work elsewhere, too, but it's sort of a requirement for the actual shop to be running correctly. :))))
Give the shop some time to fully come back alive, and the % off filter should start working on the category pages, too.
