Mermaid: abstract is very nice, I love the colours. Strange indeed, the lack of shadows in the courtyard render.
Horo: Really good landscape! Wonderful rocks and very well textured.
Electro-Elvis: thanks. Very nice scene with the female (Michael Jackson lookalike?) juggler.
Electro-Elvis, do the following.
1. Select Victoria's Trousers.
2. Go to the materials editor and copy the texture.
3. Open the image editor and paste the texture.
4. Reduce the texture to 256 * 256 or 127 * 127 (instead of 2048, 4096, etc.)
5. Copy the reduced texture from IrfanView (Photoshop) and paste it into the Texture Editor in Bryce.
6. Save and close the scene and start again.
Do similar operations with all the elements of clothing and textures of the skin of the face, body, etc. Select the teeth, tongue and other invisible elements and remove them. Each time, save the scene, close and start the file again. Do the same for buildings and cars. Your experience tells you how many times you need to reduce the size of textures. I think that for such a small picture the texture size of 127 or 256 is quite enough.
As a result, you will be happy, and enough memory will be enough for Michael 4.
mermaid010,
1. The render time depends on the number of objects only by 1%.
2. Rendering time depends primarily on the presence of maps with transparency texture, from transparent and voluminous materials, from the quantity and quality of light sources and their settings, including HDRI.
Now about the composition: you have to cut off the bottom third of the picture or tilt the camera in X so that the floor occupies no more than a quarter of the entire image.
Without shadows, the image looks flat.
Slepalex thanks for the additional explanation, much appreciated.
mermaid : nice abstract, beautiful colour effect. I have to agree with Horo that the shadows are missing in your second render, but I like the view.
Horo : Double stacked terrain is awesome.
Electro-Elvis : great scene.
Hansmar - thank you.
adbc - thank you.
Using the same terrain as on previous page but moved the camera, removed the clouds and added bushes. This shows the main outcrop of the warped terrain.
Horo, that outcrop is amazing - could you supply a resource for such (I'm thinking this could easily be used in several circumstances - planet Earth or in other planetary contexts).
Jay...sorry...way behind - uni-directional head.
c-ram - thank you Marco.
Jamahoney - thank you Jay. It's theoretically easy to make such warped terrains though there's a lot of experimenting and fiddling. Some terrains look great, some not at all. It's a bit of a hit and miss affair. Mayhap I write a PDF on the subject. This warping thingy is not my idea, I don't remember who came up with the idea. Last time I played with this was 9 years ago.
Another try with a warped terrain. This is the petrified ejecta from a meteor impact long ago. It is the same terrain as shown in this comment: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/53147/show-us-your-bryce-renders-part-9/p89#Comment_1541806 but from the outside.
The anaglyph shows things much clearer and the isle looks more dramatic
.
Thanks, Horo...the outcrops look very unusual, and for some unknown reason they remind me of one of the Alien movies, and also looks like an impact/ejecta crater etc., but frozen in time. Btw, anaglyph is super effective
Jay
Started with an abstract, based on some Structure Synth objects. Added The Eye from Technofilia, a hollow cylinder and a few walking men. Hope you like it.
Horo : Excellent rock scene, beautiful texture.
Warped terrain ... wow, so is the anaglyph.
Hansmar : Beautiful render, I like it !
Adbc – thanks for the comments. Regarding the shadows, I checked, I don’t have any light source. I used the default sky and changed the global ambient to a brownish/orange colour, there is no opening in the model except from the top, thus no shadows, I'm still having fun with the model, camera and lighting.
Horo – the Outcrop is awesome, the Petrimpe and Anaglyph are beautiful as well.
Hansmar – great render. A nice idea for the current challenge.
Two Abstracts, a Wings 3D object – 1st Panoramic view and the 2nd Perspective view. I used 4 reflective planes and a few radial lights.
mermaid : Great abstract scenes, awesome colours.
Jamahoney - thank you.
Hansmar - very cool abstract in this tunnel.
adbc - thank you.
mermaid - thank you. Your abstracts are fantastic and I really like the colours.
Thanks Adbc and Horo
adbc, Mermaid, Horo: thank you.
Mermaid. Your abstract looks wonderful with that dark background.
Another large abstract render. I used the metaball spikes again, with a cylinder around it. Looked like a boat, I thought. Therefore, a man on it.
Wow beautiful abstract, Hansmar love the colors reflected in the water
Not posted anything for a while, so here goes. Nice to see everyone is still busy. :)

Don't think I posted this one before, can't find it anyway.
It's called The Golf Ball.
Gallery
Mmmm...abstracts, Mermaid and Hansmar...so cool.
Love the phone, Stuart...but where's the Bryce app As to the golfy work...sigh... I'd give that a FOUR
Jay
PS...just a-poppin-in - been out of the Bryce loop for ages (projects, projects...)
Hansmar - that's really a beautiful (semi-)abstract.
StuartB - very well done and nicely presented smart phone. The tree is just awesome. Is this a Bryce tree?
Warped terrains, also stacked ones. I have a 5 page PDF (and text only) ready on my website under Documents > Mine > Objects > Warped Terrains or directly here https://horo.ch/docs/mine/pdf/WarpedTerrains.pdf.
Thanks for asking, Jay. I learned a lot by investigating the subject. Here is a triple stacked warped terrain from two different camera positions - and I couldn't help to render anaglyphs, too.
Perspective is gorgeous, Horo - want to climb that last anaglyph one.
No offence to those that haven't become 3D-anaglyph-wise (it can be somewhat a scary area to delve in to), but such renders are creatable using the various options (eg...Horo/Brinnen) mentioned here on the Bryce forum over the years.
If not interested, however, invest in the 3D goggles at least - they are cheap and allow you to view works posed here. Who knows, their views might open up your mind, your creative juices as well
Jay
Thanks Jay. Did you find the golf ball?
@Horo. Don't know what was used to create the tree, I found it on the internet and it was titled Ash Tree 4.
Really like your latest jagged terrains, especially the anaglyphs.
Cheeky, Stuart...the golf ball, of course, lies in the FOUR-k of the tree...hahe
As Yodo might say: Smart you are -
Jay
Haha. This one is just for Jay, with Bryce App.
Stuart...honoured
Jay
Btw...just came across Horo/Brinnen terrain works...'Gritstone Hills' and 'Grand Mountains' ...pheeew...other works too...that I never knew existed. Super!
StuartB - awesome smart phone especially the one with Bryce App. The tree is beautiful.
Jay - thanks
Horo - fabulous set of renders, the anaglyphs are awesome. A quick question about the Sponza model, did you guys on Bryce5.com, change the texture of the model or is it just the lighting that gives that awesome effect. I'm still playing with this model it's a great model, ideal for developing manoeuvring the camera and lighting skills. I wonder if there are other great free models like this one to play with.
Thanks for the Warped Terrains pdf
Thanks Mermaid.
