Will version 2 have collision checking with the model?  I was never able to master keeping hair from clipping through the character's ears or head and eventually gave up trying to use LAMH.

    Yes.

+1 to the chorus of people eager for the release!

Okay, I downloaded the update.  Now I keep getting an error message saying that I have both the player and the full version installed and that I need to uninstall one of them.  But the only thing showing installed is the full version and its the only version showing.  and when I loaded a LAMH preset (eastern dragon) I got an error message that files were missing, I ended up with three dragons and one set of hair and they were all twisted together like a pretzel.  I would show a screen shot but Daz crashed at that point. And it happened on my laptop as well.  pc is 4.9 latest version as of two weeks ago and laptop is 4.8

    Look in "c:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4/plugins"  You will probably see both a lamhPlayerPlugin.64.dll as well as a lamhPlugin.64.dll

Delete the player dll.  The first dialog will go away.

On the dragon, I will need more exact error message(s).

That seems to have fixed both problems for the moment.  If it happens again I will email you with details.  Thanks for the help!

Glad it helped.  We were getting so many people who were not uninstalling the player before installing the full that we decided to put in a check to warn them that both are still installed.

Another vid showing one of the upcoming features in LAMHv2.  Something many have been asking for.

Admittedly, I may have missed it occurring, but am I correct in deducing from the video that v2 will no longer require converting to OBJ for rendering in Iray?

That's correct, this system will render according the OpenGL state selected (thus Iray, 3DL or others) and automatically convert LAMH fibers into the necessary format without any user intervention. So yes, no more manual OBJ conversions for Iray will be necessary.

A bit of information for everyone.  If you're using LAMH and your textures are not showing in the hairs, make sure that the "mapped" button is selected in the pane for the shavegroup(s) *AND* the hair root color is set to maximum white (255,255,255).  This should make the hair pick up the underlying texture.

I just wanted to follow up on my issue with everyone: These instructions solved my issue. Speficially for me, I just had to set the root color to white, and the fur texture exported correctly after that. I have yet tried to render it in LuxRender, but since it worked in IRay, I'm sure it'll work in LuxRender as well.

Thank you Kendall and Alessandro for solving my issue so quickly. I greatly appreciate it.

Did you guys release a Poser version of LAMH?  I tried searching for it but the DAZ search engine returned nada.  In fact you might want to talk to DAZ Alex and Ken, Ken, clicking on your name brings up zero products.  Clicking on Alex's name brings up just a handful of products and I know you have more than a handful!

Hey Rich no, there is no Poser for LAMH.

I checked the store and all seems ok, maybe you have to untick the 'Hide Items I Own' checkbox?

    Outfrickinstanding...

While my render computer is not bleeding-edge-top-of-the-line, it is no slouch either, and converting some LAMH objects drains the hell out of the system at times.

Oh, we were.  I have "Poser Code", but the fact is that it is unlikely that we would've broken even on it.

Kendall - I don't know if any of the files I sent you were of any use from my recent crashing syndrome with my wolf pair.  However, I ended up going back to the last good save file that I could load into DS.  It didn't have any of the same lighting as the saved .duf that crashed so I couldn't replicate that setup.  I had to come up with totally new lighting and I changed some things around.  I didn't have to redo my poses which was good.  I thought you might be interested in my final image after all of the trouble it caused.  I just uploaded this to my gallery yesterday.  Even with my crashing and managing to possibly break LAMH, I think the final output was worth it.  Thanks for the help.  I'm sorry I couldn't have been of more assistance.  I'm actually thinking that I may have triggered a glitch in DS itself as I was able to save this version of my scene with wolf poses and what I did with their LAMH presets when I combed and positioned the fur.  I was a little nervous about trying, but it opened in DS just fine this morning.  Oh, and I tried splitting out my .obj fur from the LAMH group and, yes, that did work and my exported fur was loaded into the scene exactly as I had it when I saved instead of just disappearing.  So, thanks for posting that up above somewhere as I hadn't heard that before and it will save me a few extra exports in the future.

AM - I love working with your wolves.  They are loads of fun when they aren't misbehaving on my workspace.  I hope you approve of the poses.  It took some time, a few reference photos, and patience, but I like the poses I ended up with.  I hope you like them, too.

Any tips on pulling off a Merida-like hairdo?

I tried 60 points and curl and frizz, but I got basically a big frizzy mass that looked neat, but not right.

It can be done, however it isn't easy currently.  You won't do it with 1 shavegroup.  The biggest mistake is to put too many hairs in each shavegroup.

Welp, so much for that, LAMH corrupted the duf file again.

Edit: Oh thank God, it loaded anyway

Why does the furrythings website look abandoned? It doesn't seem to have been updated since 2014.

My bad. LAMH Facebook page is so easy to update that I neglected updating the site. I'll try to keep it up to date.

Thanks. I'm not on Facebook, so I had no idea that you had updated information there. I wouldn't be able to see it anyway, so I'm glad to hear that the official website will get some attention.
