Ahh k no worries it must make it hard to get this addon to work with all the different poses out there and it must get very annoying.. :)
I'll ask a question here... because I think I misunderstood what this asset ( Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Pose Converter) does...
My situation is this
I have a G8F and an asset called Mage Weapons that was built for G3. Mage Weapons has a folder of G3 "Poses" that are bascially just "hand gripping the weapon" poses.
Obviously, when I have a G8 Figure in the scene, and I just want them to hold the bloody sword, I click the G3 Sword for my G8 Character and the sword is all over the place. I got the G3-G8 Pose Converter hoping that if I converted the poses to G8, it might solve my problem, but It didn't.
Is there any product/software that can take the prop Poses that were intended for.G3s and Convert them so that they would work for G8s ?
This product converts poses, not props. Prop Poses that contain special characteristics like prop information won't really work, depending on how the info for that prop has been saved. This product deals with the pose information of the figure only.
@PJWhoopie "G8 Figure in the scene, and I just want them to hold the bloody sword, I click the G3 Sword for my G8 Character and the sword is all over the place."
Just a shot in the dark. Do you have G8F selected when you click to pose?
I haven't heard of such a product. Looks like carrie58 knows of one. See next post.
Here's what I do, with the G8 character loaded and in the A-Pose:
It's a bit of work, so once I've got the prop where I need it to be, I usually save a Wearable Preset for it.
I hope this helps.
Actually RiverSoftArts has a product to do this for both th males and females so check his store ,no offense meant to Zev0
Thanks folks.
I realized my mistake as I was typing my question above... that is, up until recently, I thought a sword was just "a sword". And that my issues were caused by the pose. Now I realize, that the sword is a Sword PLUS. And that there is information somehow in there telling it what to do and where to go. I can still use this (pose converter) to convert other poses... but for parent-y prop poses, I gotta find another work around. Was already suggested to me that i do the load-g3-copy-pose-paste-on-g8 method... I was just hoping that there would be an easier way... since my load times are already creaping up, I didn't want to have to double it...
Thanks to all though!
@carrie58: What is the RiverSoftArts product? I went to his store page, but he has so many products! I couldn't figure out which one you were talking about.
@inquire sending you a pm
i try using the Pose converter G8 to G3 with my hierarchical poses set for G8, dont work, i launched the script G8 to G3, and nothing happen, just the sentence "converting files...." on the script popup windows i stoped after 5mn because nothing happened.
Do i need to load a G8F and a G3F in the scene like for the riversoft converter products? Actually there is nothing in my scene it's just an empty scene
here the error log after i tried to convert G8F poses directory to G3F

What metadata, exactly, is created?
I know I read somewhere in this thread about being dumped into Local User....and I thought an update was done to not have this happen... Because dumping everything into Local User is... mostly useless?
Now, I've been a fan and loyal supporter for a long time. Product pretty much works great (and how I ever missed the "Select poses > Launch script" feature is beyond me), but...that's not useful metadata, it does not help me to find a specific pose by vendor, product, etc...it breaks the normal, useful flow of Smart Content.
Anyone has issues with this on a Mac? im getting this error when selecting poses from a product folder installed within Studio.
Did some test and found that products installed with DIM works but those installed with Daz connect or Content manager gives the above error. An Update may be needed to correct the issue.
That's why I only install stuff from Daz with DIM.
Me, too. I haven't had luck with DaZ connect nor with Content Manager.
Is there any sort of timeline for an update for this addon, as while the converter works fine the pose corrector script does not work with Genesis 8.1..
Working on it.
Official Update is now Live.
Version 1.6
I'm not seeing any notification for an update in DIM or DazCentral. If I manually download and install the files again, will they be the updated version?
yes
First time posting, I recently downloaded Daz Studios 4.X pro (4.15) on a new iMac 2020 running an intel processor. Via DIM, I downloaded all of my assets and scripts purchased and tried to run the 3 to 8 script. I know I am doing everthing right as I have done this before running 4.15. The problem I am having is that I select the Gen 3 Pose to convert, press the convert button and I get the progress bar indicator with the time counting up but nothing is happening. I have uninstalled and reinstalled. Is there a new update to download or do I need to give permissions to write to my hardrive? Note I have purchased Gen 2 to Gen 3 script that runs fine. Any info would be greatly apprieciated.
So I finally spent some time using this product. Seems to work great. My only issue is that I selected the Metadata option on the batch converts but the poses only show up as individual files in Local User folder in Smart panel. Is that the way it's supposed to work? Does the converter not allow for products to show in the Smart Content with Filter by Context option like other pose products? Thanks
Hello, I am using the product and so far it works great. I am impressed. But I am having the problem that the script does not work when I try to use it from the Scripts menu. I even tried to add it to a toolbar and appears but does nothing. It only opens when I click on the icon on Scripts on the Content Library.
I don't use any standard Daz Directories. All that is Daz related is on The hard drive (D:). I don't use the Smart Content and I manually modify every directory. The G3 to G8 Pose Converter is on a Pose Converters subdirectory under Scripts. I am using Daz Studio 4.15 Pro Publishing Build.
Thanks
RR
Hi. We found a bug when adding to script menu, sometimes you have to click it more than once for it to take. Alternatively, you can create a shortcut key to quick access the script.
I found a solution. I will go over the steps again and post in short.
Thanks
RR
To fix the problem that the G3 to G8 Pose Converter and Corrector Scripts did not work from the Scripts menu. I went to "Customize Daz Studio" to create a Shortcut. I had already the script on "Actions - Custom" so I went down to the Script and right-clicked on the name of the highlighted script. I went to "Edit Custom action" and in "Daz Script File" I added the directory where the script is on my computer and now it works perfectly from the Scripts menu.
After doing all that I decided to try something else. I downloaded the script manually from My Product Library and reinstalled and all the problems persisted so the manual fix was necessary.
I just uninstalled and reinstalled the script using Install Manager. And now I got the Icons and everything work perfect.
Seems to be a difference when downloading using the Manual link instead of doing it through the Install manager. Are the two links using the same version files?
RR
Same version..I have no idea why different installers mess things up.
Tried it today. It converted a pose to G8F successfully but in the process appears to have saved over the original G3F pose file. Fortunately, I was testing a copy of the original so the old duf still exists. Could the problem be that the location of the original G3F pose and the destination of the converted G8F were both in the same folder?
