The animation converter was Draagonstorms project. She is no longer with us. I will however test and see how hard it will be to register animations and convert those. The only way now is to scroll through each frame of animation and apply the pose corrector to each frame.
I found out that for some reason the pose converter seem to exchange a zero in the duf file code with the text: NaN (in row 1310) in a few poses in some pose sets, not sure why this is happening.
We will look into that set to see why some poses arent working. Pose 9 works for me, but 8 and a few others doesn't.
Thank you for your reply, much appriciated.
I think if I remember it correct, it is pose 0, 1,3,8,16,30,31 that is not working in that set and the same numbers for the bottom body poses that is not working in the same set.
We still investigating, but the culprit and assumption is pointing to hand edited pose files which the script has issues reading on some poses when converting takes place.
Ok guys we solved the problem. There will be a ver 1.5 update. So this update will ensure that some poses that contain some editing/custom strings will work as well after conversion. They will have to be reconverted though. Thank you all for the feedback. I will post a notification here once it goes live.
Hi Zev0,
I am having problems in using this script while converting G3F poses to G8F. Once I save a G3F pose and open and select it and click convert, the dialog does not show any error, the progress bar does not start, only the time elapsed continues to run. Closing the dialog manually and looking into the Daz log I can see the following :
2018-10-25 23:54:51.427 WARNING: Script Error: Line 858
2018-10-25 23:54:51.427 WARNING: TypeError: Result of expression 'oBasePath' [null] is not an object.

All the poses I have tried to convert, result in the same. Can you please fix the script ?
Thanks and regards, Rajib
What specific version of studio do you have? EG 4.10.0.123
I am using 4.10.0.123 Pro Edition (64 Bit)
We are looking into it. What pose set were you converting so we can try and see if we get same results.
It is a custom pose on my custom character. I had created a scene where I have posed my G3F based character some time back. Now I have moved her to G8F and was trying to replace the G3F based character with the G8F based character in that scene. So I saved the G3F based pose via the File->Save As->Pose and then ran your utility to load that pose and save it as a G8F pose. It didn't work. So I opened another old scene file, saved the G3F based pose from that scene and then ran your utility again to convert that pose to G8F based pose. That also had the same issue.
Ok forget about existing scenes or custom poses. If you run the script to convert a pose set do those converted poses work if you apply them to a new figure in the scene?
Ok. I just tried to convert the fashion model pose 01 from the Genesis 3 Starter Essential. It did not work. Nothing happened. I closed the dialog after 30 seconds.Opened log file and saw :

I ran your utility Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Pose Converter from the Scripts menu
Steps I used :
1. Start Daz Studio
2. Click Scripts->Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 Pose Converter
3. Click Add Individual Pose Files...
4. Select fashion model pose 01 from \DAZConnectLibrary\data\cloud\1_21630\people\genesis 3 female\poses
5. Select fashion model pose 01 in the list
6. Click Convert Files
The Create Metadata is unchecked
Converting Poses.. Dialog came up. After that nothing. Closed the dialg, closed the main dialog. Opened the Daz logs and saw the error I pasted in my last post.
I haven't gotten to the point of applying the converted poses. I am not able to convert any pose from G3F to G8F.
Worked fine on our side. Easier method for adding files to the dialog is to have them selected in either Smart Content or Content Library before running script and it will add them automatically.
Also make sure content directory of converted poses are mapped inside of studio.
Currently the converted pose folder is under MyLibrary\Presets\Poses\... Will that be an issue ? In any case I will try selecting in the Content Library and try again.
Selectinng the pose in Content Library (even the custom poses I saved) worked. I will use this method that you suggested. Thank you so much for your kind help :).
I wonder what was the different between add files and selecting in the content Library. In the add files I noticed the filter was set to PNG files. My assumption is that is so that the Pose can be seen based on the Preview PNG while selecting and your script will then remove the .png and load the .duf file. Maybe something is going wrong there or some other initialization.
I am converting my Genesis 3 poses to Genesis 8 with this product and have a question.
Can I uninstall the Genesis 3 pose products with the DAZ Studio Installer after I have converted them to Genesis 8?
I don't want to have multiple copies of poses around for the sake of simplicity. I just want the G8 poses only.
In theory yes you can. You do not need the source poses. I would try with one pose set first just to be sure. If the G8 converted set still works after that, then go ahead. I know if poses are installed manually you do not need source poses, but I cannot be 100% sure if that is the case if they were installed via other methods.
Thank you so much. I will try to see if it works. If I run into any problems, I will just keep both sets.
P.S. With two sets that were installed manually, I moved the directory created to the Genesis 8 section of the Content Library and then deleted the original G3 pose directory. No problem at all.
I was able to convert one of my Smart Content pose directories:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\People\Genesis 3 Male\Poses\Tough as Nails for Gianni 7
and chose the output directory as
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\People\Genesis 8 Male\Poses
It took all the poses and converted them to G8 in this folder:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\People\Genesis 8 Male\Poses\Tough as Nails for Gianni 7
However, after refreshing this new folder from the Content Library, exiting DAZ Studio and then relaunching DAZ Studio, I cannot find the new converted poses anywhere in the Smart Content pane.
Are converted poses only available from the Content Library??
I can use them from this library, but was really hoping they would show up in the Smart Content pane since the poses were originally installed by the DAZ Studio Install Manger.
Please help.
Thank you!
I found something that works for me to access the converted poses within the Smart Content pane, although I'm not sure this is the way to do it.
After converting the G3 poses to G8, I copied the newly created G8 pose files from the Destination folder into the original G3 pose folder, (overwriting the G3 pose files).
Now when I use Smart Content, I simply use the same product I always used before, but the poses are G8 instead of G3 now.
I give up. Only one of the pose sets I converted worked (Tough as Nails Poses).
The other pose products I tried to convert either give errors when I try to use them on some of the G8 figures (some work, some don't) --or-- just don't convert if metadata is checked. With metadata checked I'm going on 18+ minutes to convert one pose in a list of 20. This cannot be accurate. Something must be wrong. It gets stuck on every single pose product that I tried.
It never finished so I just hit the cancel button.
Hopefully I can find a better pose conversion product out there for my library of poses. I don't know if it's something I'm doing wrong, but this is not working for me.
I think a little bit of documentation on this product would have been extremely helpful. Even a really short PDF file to explain the basic work flow would have helped.
I guess I will keep this product because the on-the-fly pose corrector script works beautifully ON ALL POSES. Thank goodness for that! It's invaluable.
I just wish I had better luck with the conversion process.
See attached screenshot. Uggghhh!
@von Hobo
I've converted over a hundred pose SETs. It's not the product. They also convert very fast (a single pose directory (~50 poses) converts in less than 45 seconds for me.
Hi. Please make sure converted poses are going into a Content Library that is Mapped or Linked inside Studio. The script will not work properly if you are converting to a directory that is not linked to studio. I see in your screenshot you are sending to the desktop.
Thanks! I'll try again with the mapped folders only.
Hi there...
Can the converter also convert expression morphs from G3 to G8? I think the expression without morph dial should be no problem, but is it possible to convert possibly the orph directory?
