I saw this newsletter in my inbox: The Hotties are on Holiday...Join Them

I'm not trying to start an argument but I have never seen or heard the phrase "on Holiday" before. I'm not sure if the sale is related to Memorial Day, a federal holiday in the United States of America.

    Yes, it is.

From what I've gleaned from my friends living on that side of the Atlantic Ocean, pretty much all federal holidays are nowdays "party party party" sort of holidays. Since, y'know, it is a time when all friends are most likely off from work, so people can party.

klondike bars in the freezer. yumma

    it's tough working with 2 co-workers who aren't on speaking terms. xtra-especially when co-worker 3 and 4 are off.

like Squidward when Spongebob and Patrick weren't friends. no sympathy for Squidward since it was his fault.

    No BBQ day here, nope.

Other than that, it is rather AWESOME day. I can hear martins' (delichon urbicum) flying about and doing their skree-skree-skree-skree thing, which means that very soon there's going to be a nest underneath the roof, and in a month it'll be skree-skree-thump!-skree-skree-skree-thump! as mommy and daddy carry food to the nest.

This also means that summer is officially here.

Oooh, martins! :) Little featherballs! :cheese:

Are your martins relatives of the purple martins we get here in Tennessee? Ours are in the swallow family. When I was growing up we kept a martin pole up with a big house at the top and real gourds painted white on cross-pieces on the pole underneath. We always had a lot of birds come to nest there in the summer. My Dad was a bird-lover. :)

We have Purple Martins here, they're so cute! :cheese: They build group homes for them, like in your pic. Great birds! :)

Sadly, no :( I settled for Japanese green tea instead.

Edit: WAIT. I read that as "martinis". I blame the pictture of that enticing blue drink.

Martins are still courting and looking for suitable pairs.

Complaints: my nose is itchy, my toes are twitchy, and I fell real bitchy. :blank: :blank:

Too many hot dogs and too much beer yesterday, so innards aren't real happy but not real angry either, since I avoided too spicy stuff.

    Rain again Thursday. Blug. :-S

New complaint: my agency says no fax from IRS. IRS says, we sent it, we'll send it again. :blank: :blank:

Am seriously crabby now. Thankfully my boss says he'll front me rent money for a week if the FAX doesn't make it before payroll is run (3:00pm CST), so I don't have to worry about going homeless. Yaay boss! Well, it's only $300 and only for a week, but still.. I love my boss!

This gives me until next Tuesday morning to get these folks talking to each other. Blech. :blank:

Non-complaint: at least the last 2 people I've talked to at the IRS were helpful and took their time. I do admit I used my charisma to make a smoother path :red: but we all ended up less stressed and happier, so I guess it's ok. :-S

One more non-complaint: loaded potato soup for lunch! :cheese:

Last bit of thread spammage: after almost 2-1/2 hours on the phone, FINALLY I get the IRS and my company talking and everything is settled for now, until I can get proof of spousal support (copies of cancelled checks) from my old bank in California. :blank:

So, I now have the luxury of time to argue with my old bank - which I guess will involve the phone, snail mail, and possibly a trip to Dallas to the only branch they have near me. Might make a good excuse to fly to SF for a few days (heh) ;-)

Indigestion set to STUN today, urgh. The soup should help!

Like I say, "I can be bi, but I have standards."

If something doesn't work for ya, just move on, more for someone else.

Imagine that blue drink flying around and making skree-skree sounds, and then add several of them to the courting scene...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong (go ahead, I won't mind, I'm used to it), but I believe that the phrase "on Holiday" is used in the UK to describe what we across the pond would call "on vacation".

I try to get into the Forums, and I get this over and over:

Site Error: Unable to Load Site Preferences; No Preferences Found :-S

    Then, things work again. :blank:

Very annoying. Greatly desire a drink and someone to share it with.

Yep - full of fun places like a sub shop, a Whataburger, a gas station, an urgent medical care place, a payday loan shop, and a massage parlor! :ahhh:

Not a stripper in sight, though.
