Well, 51% off or not, you add all that stuff up and then think, "Where's the BUNDLE?" Unless I am missing it, and believe me, I'm looking, lol.
Anyone bought her yet?

I'm looking and thinking... not sure I'd use much myself unless it gives great results when mixing with other shapes, but I'm sure other folk that do teen renders will think she's great.

It's not a DAZ Original, so to bundle or not is decision of PA, but today's price is quite tempting... oh but that'll leave me too skint to buy any big releases this week (not that I know if there are any)... decisions decisions...

One thing that is tempting me is that she is a Genesis 2. I have almost all the other 3D Universe characters and have been very pleased with the morphs- taking them into the negative numbers gives quite fun results. I'll try to render her later today, but my studio is acting up and not installing any products so I may be stuck. (that's an entirely different thread, lol.) I'll let everyone know if I get up and running and render her. Would love to see some here too.

If only there's a bundle for this, but still tempting to get it because of the price :) . Looking forward to your renders Novica if you able to solve your problems, then after seeing those I might make a decision.

Edit: I'm curious, Since Charlize is a teen/young adult, is height always the same as genesis 2?

Bought the clothes just to get the shoes.

Anyone know which UV mapping Charlize is using? I assume V5, since she doesn't list any other dependencies.

I was able to install her. Working on it. UV set says base female.
Not sure if I'm doing this right- I just clicked on her and installed her, didn't have to have the G2 figure in the scene. That sounds like a stupid comment (and probably is, be kind, lol) but her skin looks um, well, see screenshot of spot render. Had a hard time picking a background color that didn't make her look blander. (is that a word?)

I decided to buy her and here's a render of her taking a break from reading on the beach. :D

    I used:
Wilmap's off shoulder dress and buckle boots.

    AdamThwaites' beach backdrop.

    Jim Farris' book prop.

Did she look rather bland to you before you added lights?

This means she is using V5's UV mapping, as I suspected.

Yeah, adding in lights sure makes a huge difference haha.

Oh, you haven't seen what she's rendering like in my screwed up studio. I could enter this into a creature contest. What the heck?
Okay, so did you just load her up without having Genesis 2 already in the scene, or did you apply her to the figure? Either way, I'm getting a mess. (EDIT- spot rendering now. Actually, this could be kinda cool, I'll have a unique character, lol)

I don't think, under UV there is Base female as well as V5 and I've got V4 as I have V4for Genesis 2.

Doing a render (if it doesnt take too long) but here's the screenshot. I didn't change any settings. This was just loading her directly into the scene, not applied to G2.

I might know what cause the bland look without lights. I looked at her skin under surface and her diffuse color is light blue and specular color is purple. I changed them to Silver's Nyssa diffuse and specular color set up and the bland look is no more.

Yeah, I saw that too- wanted to render this before changing anything- but people shouldn't HAVE to change to get a decent skin. My render is still going- I might just keep her the way she is- kinda neat looking! (You'll have to see it to believe it. I could win a creature creation contest by doing nothing, lol) It'll be about another 15 minutes- check back- this really looks neat.

Check out the earrings. Look closely!
Keep in mind, I didn't do a THING. So I have two different earrings, one matching her skin texture, one normal. Is this freaky? But I think she looks really cool- quite a mystical creature!

BE SURE TO CLICK TO ENLARGE, AND CLICK AGAIN.

Are you using Uberenvironment2 light as it looks as if you need to increase your settings and possibly your render settings?

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,905

Yep, over in my art studio thread Mori_Mann and I are discussing the Lune Portail lights (the background prop) and that's UberEnvironment2. Will take a look at the render settings after the next render. Should I take off the UE2 or change the render settings- Any suggestions?

I just had a look and the settings for the Uber2 are really really low you need to increase the Occlusion samples to at least 64, reduce the shading rate to about 4 and the max error to about 0.20, there the settings I usually use, this will increase render times.

Curiosity killed the cat... just bought her - if I like then a sound investment - if I don't like then there's the 30-day refund option.

I'll try some test renders after dinner (which is in microwave as we speak!)

Just watch that UberEnvironment2 lighting, lol!
I've got other pictures of that wonderful fantasy skin in my art studio thread, if anyone's interested. (See sig.) and the different tops she wears. Will be posting Charlize throughout the day there.

Am throwing every rose colored / yellow colored light combo at her without changing the skin diffuse color (which is BLUE) so we'll see what we get. I am just using spot lights, distance lights. Watching it come in- the hues are much better-You might be throwing a lot of dusky peach and reds in those lights if you don't want to change the skin right off the bat, lol

    Will post shortly.

Okay- here she is. The sandals did their wonky thing due to a pose preset, so she's feetless. When will I ever learn to just put her barefoot when I do pose presets, sigh. (Otherwise, the sandals are beautiful.) All lights were either hot pink or bright yellow. Am doing a diagram and will post specifics in the art studio thread- will be a few minutes.

Cool render Novica. Hot pink lights? Haven't tried that. . One thing I like about his characters is he usually includes lights. I guess not this time, eh?

This one I used Luxus to render this. It still rendering as I'm trying to fix that fuzzy shadow area at the neck.

I also changed the diffused color and specular color for skin, lips and fingernail. The reason because Luxus made Charlize's color really weird. I really like how it turns out.

Don't you folks think Charlize looks strangely similar to one of the characters from Final Fantasy franchise? I enjoy Kimberly, so maybe she would also come into my runtime one day. Still, it's strange there's no bundle and the expression she shows on the promos of the textures for her clothes is... well, as if she was having a snake in her pocket. Or rather under her skirt.

Well, I know nothing about the franchise, but I saw some pictures of her on DeviantArt stating it's Vanille from Final Fantasy.

I can see that being close to Vanille from Final Fantasy 13. And it's also a great franchise to play :)

Especially on that cute Novica's renders, right?

On a general note, 3D-Universe makes great models. If they ever decided to create anything from Thief series (if you know Final Fantasy, you're bound to recognize THIS series :P), I would buy that straightaway.

Used my standard portrait lights with relatively neutral colours (daylight, so key light a pale yellow and back-fill is pale blue). Also thought I'd boost the pig-tails up to max...
