...I've looked for more background on what I saw in the diagnostics but all that I get are references to articles and postings that don't help clarify the matter at all for they seem to be written in some language other than plain everyday English. This stuff is just too incomprehensible and over my head.
Like I mentioned, If I knew it, I'd be earning a living at it. Instead, I'm just going to have to call someone in with the proper expertise to insure the fix gets done right.
Isn't that computer brand new? It should be under warranty.
Dana
...3DS...for me that is a "lottery dream".
The Steam version is 2.2 Pro but since that was the same as the demo I downloaded I thought it was probably the same.
And it's not really streaming it's though the Steam game store, they also sell software. You download the app to your system it just uses the Steam app to keep things updated. Most of the games do have code in them to check in and verify your license once in a while - I think it's like once a month or so - but I've never had an issue with anything not being available even if I didn't have a network connection at the time.
I would give a direct link but I think that's against the TOS since it's for a commercial site. You can just go to steampowered.com and then go to the software section and then filter by animation/modeling to find it though.
Thanks :)
But I wouldn't want to live there. ;-)
Nice image. One of those buildings looks like it was improperly constructed, though. The first floor is the same height as the others, but the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seem a bit short.

Zombies get a bad rap, vultures are far hungrier XD
Yeah, but at least the vultures wait till you're dead to eat you. :vampire:
This is true.

making an early dindins. bacon cheeseburger and chips
We may be doing pizza and wings
I think Chohole might be in the number that have lost power from that storm. They say there are still about 100,000 without power.

...it's a home-build, so nope. One of the downsides to saving about 1,200$ (to get the same rig though a custom house would have been about 2,500$)
We're thinking about getting a copy of 3DSMax for me and Maya for the wife
I have the latest build of Hexagon, and I started to work with it. I have some of the tutorials by John "Fugazzi", including two he sold here, using Hexagon. I haven't followed along with those two yet. I was glad he did them, because his other ones over at Renderosity utilize Silo, which has its differences from Hex.
I'll get back to it eventually.

i'd lie to try Silo. can't afford it for awhile.
All of my modeling is done in Silo. I'm getting ready to retire it though. I'm gonna be getting 3DSMax. Silo was a fantastic modeler. It has great capabilities and a fantastic and completely customizable UI. It is very user friendly
...Nevercenter is still offering Silo for 109$. As I am not thrilled about the conditions of the Steam deal (even though I am on a very meager income) I'd rather just save up and get it from the original vendor. Besides, then I also get customer service.
What conditions in the Steam deal? I figure there has to be something that causes it to be almost half off but I've yet to see anything so I'm curious if I'm missing something.
I would guess that if they ever did update it Steam purchases wouldn't get any upgrade type pricing. I can also see your point about support.
Does it phone home every time you open it?
...shoot, I could almost buy a decent pre-owned car for that.
...or a Mac Pro with Dual Hyperhtreading Hexacore processors and 32G RAM.
We would be financing it
...that's part of what I am concerned about as I so not like being online while working. With how much I push my beastie I need all the system resources I can get dedicated to creating scenes and rendering.
Quick! I need a Daz Studio guinea pig. :ahhh:
Don't worry, it's not dangerous, I just wanna know if it installs OK. :cheese:

Very cool! Now make it a Sock Monkey. :)

The parts you used are still things that have a warranty. I do the same myself. Save your receipts, and your warranty information, especially on things like video cards and motherboards, and...RAM and, well...everything.

I'm actually not sure about the software applications. I do know I've used Silo while our internet was down so it doesn't have to be on to work. I also know that to launch the app I use Silo 2.exe, it's just located in my Steam directory instead of program files.
If it works the same as the Steam games then they have to check in with Steam every once in a while - I believe it's once every 30 days - but they'll run even with no network connection. That was one of the issues gamers had when Steam launched. Basically at launch it queries the Steam server to verify that your account has the rights to the software and then goes away.
As for being online using resources, unless you disconnect the ethernet cable from the back of your computer you're using the same amount of resources. I've not tried it but based on how ethernet works I could even see that if you did disconnect the cable the card might use more resources with the constant testing to see if there was a connection yet.
When you're talking about rendering the actual CPU resources used by most network processes are minimal, even browsing to most sites shouldn't use a lot of CPU cycles though it will consume RAM.
The basic license type handshake of systems like Steam would use little to no memory or CPU. In fact I have Steam running right now and it's taking up 24 MB of memory and 0% CPU and Network cycles. When I launch Silo that jumps to 26.8 MB and it flashes to 0.1% CPU for about a second. Once the app is running neither Silo nor Steam are hitting the network - I didn't even see Steam hit the network when I launched Silo but that could be because I've been running it already today.
Still, if it's not something you're comfortable with I can understand that. Honestly, for a difference of $40 I'd probably just save a little longer and buy it direct as well if I didn't already own it.
Bucket loads fine but no texture map.
Here it is with Goop shaders applied though :)
How about dip them into chocolate?
...GAHHHHHHHH!!!!!
...sorry, flashbacks of my old wireless net service.
...I have high speed cable, everything's OK now...

Dang. Thanks, I think I know how to fix it. You can find the texture in Runtime/Textures/Tjohn/ for now. Thanks for testing.

@ Sisca:
OK, the zip should install with the textures now. If you get a "files with same name exist" type message while installing, say yes.
Morning. Gloomy cold and windy kinda day outside my window brrrr, where haz the sun gone?
That node is much easier to work with than the others, SR3.x is real stable on my Windows Vista and Air is so much more better behaved than the Flash library is :>)

Are you getting into animation?
