Always late to the party... But I feel there aren't enough Gorilla renders around and I'm lovin' this guy.
Any tips on how I could give my gorilla tiger-striped fur?
If you have Rakshasa, you could apply a material preset onto the gorilla fur. If that doesn't work, try copying a surface from Rakshasa onto the gorilla.
Will it make a difference that one is for 3DL and the other iray?
If you're rendering in 3DL, that makes a huge difference, because I don't think you can use texture maps to color dForce hair in 3DL.
So... the stripes are on their own map/overlay?
I wanna change the black blotch around the ears and make it match the rest of the orange/black area. So I need to modify the overlay. Right?
No, the stripes are driven by a texture map painted on G8's UV. You could paint one yourself if you wanted, but again, it will only work in Iray.
I'm ok with that. I thought since Rakshasa"s skin relies on a base color with stipes overlaid, it would be easier to start with Rak and dial out the morphs and then dial in the gorilla, but I'm not happy with it. Gonna try the other way around next. The ears and transition are screwy.
Does dforce fur adopt the colors of the figure's skin the same way LAMH fur does? And if so, do I have to merge the Rakshasa base skin and its skin overlay that creates the stripes in order for the gorilla fur to change from black or white to tiger-striped? Or should I load the LAMH fur instead?
