It is probably that way on the skin resource. Darius was that way too....someone will make a skin blend I’m sure. It was a half hour job in Photoshop for me last time.
Here is Myles. He's the character I like the most so far.
Here are a couple of "out of the box" renders - except I used his "Translucency Low" setting and lowered his Duel Lobe Specular Reflectivity to .24.
He's fantastic, imo! :)
It is very hard for a lot of us black people to get really close shaves (google razor bumps) so the baby face skins always look kind of fake to me....
Wow, this promo is amazing! (Although I wish he had a guitar or something instead of a gun...) The Daz O promos are finally improving! This is tempting me to get just the character and maybe the CDI poses, although I really don’t need more guys... But kudos to whoever did this promo!
I think Silas 8 is my new favorite male character. His skin is great, imo, and he's super cute! :)
Whoever made him, bravo!![yes yes](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/thumbs_up.png)
I am thinking they are going for a Killmonger from Black Panther (Michael B Jordan) look hence the gun (and that hair style).
David
And I can happily buy now that I have seen @Divamakeup 's "out of box renders" :)
Diva - what is the default for the Duel Lobe Specular Reflectivity if I may ask (how big a drop was it to .24)?
David
hahah Too funny, David. :P
And his default Duel Lobe Specular Reflectivity is .50. Bringing it down to .24 seams to work well with my render settings. It will likely depend on your render settings and lighting. :)
I swear DAZ is using the same skin photo reference (besides the freckle add-on) I used for my custom black OC from last year.![surprise surprise](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/omg_smile.png)
Stop copying me DaZ.![wink wink](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.png)
Your guy's eyes are quite beautiful there.
Okay I have to ask, what does Sylas the Vilas mean? I can't find the word in my dictionary. I am just curious.
......
Stefon is rather sexy. I like this one. And his hands are really good.
Mind you according to my banner coupon it's Silas the Vilus - even harder to find apart from a few Star Wars references.
No clue
Ah, okay, my bad. I can see they went star wars with the content in this bundle. Oddly, not a fan of star wars, especially since the Disney takeover. But I know it is popular.
extra 10% off coupon was Sounds of Silas maybe the title of a parody of Sounds of Silence
+1 I thought the same thing. What eyes are those, @mal3Imagery - or are they completely custom like the skin?
ChangelingChick has 7 characters with "anatomical elements hair". They understand the needs of some customers like me for instance (even with fibermesh hairs = I'm happy). It is kinda hard to find a complete hair set for a male character (facial hair, eyebrows, armpits, chest hair, arms, legs, anatomical elements) in one package, which DO does not provide. Some DO G8 male has fibermesh eyebrows or facial hairs but that is not enough for me, it's incomplete. Most often, I have an EXPENSIVE bearded male character with no hairs in arms, chest, armpits, anatomical elements, and legs! I can only render it with clothes on.
I see, though I don't understand why you not just cross-use the hair. I man, unless you ONLY use your males out of the box, every time you dial in a morph that's not part of their morph package, your hairs would become useless.
I cross use hairs between male characters of the same generation. It looks the same for all of them (somewhat boring). Hair colors needs to be the same for all types of hairs used in different parts of the body. Playing with surfaces tab can be hardwork just to match each type of hair (black is the easiest). Anatomical elements hair needs to be somewhat curly, and arms and legs needs to be a little bit swayed. There isn't an easy way to morph them. I am leaning towards purchasing from other sources and looking for freebies outside Daz.
I told myself I’d behave but that smile is hard to resist >(
I feel like of the male figures Silas, Landon and Vladimir have the strongest sense of character, you know? Like their design has a lot of personality.
These are figures where instead of transposing a character onto them, they just seem to radiate a character all their own.
Par for the course when it comes to Daz males. Do they really want to sell these guys or not?
Actually, Aeon Soul has a much more accurate replica of a lightsaber, and it is available for an even better price, free. It was made for 4.8, so the saber will need to be tweaked to look right in newer versions of Iray. Just make the inner core surface a near white color, and the outer core the color you desire. With the correct bloom settings these sabers will look exactly like they do in the movies!
Silas is interesting. He looks freakin' fabulous in some pics at a distance, like really great. However, in other pics his textures look blurry or something and his skin looks fake. The worst part has to be the neck, which frankly look horrendous up close. The painted on unshaven look just does not work at all. Silas really needs some fiber stubble to look better, like how some females have peach fuzz, why can't guys have something like that? Fiber brows have also become pretty much the norm, why not stubble? We should be able to do this now. Also, Silas should have a fully clean shaven look as an option, too. Its like makeup for girls, I believe it should be a pretty standard option for males at this point.
Here is a fun fact: I believe Silas is the first Daz Original main release to have a dforce strand hair in his pro bundle.
The Faye hair in the Babina bundle is also dForce Hair.
Although the sale for Silas wasn't as good as for other figures, the bonus coupon along with the PA sales and the $2.99 sale meant I spent a *ton* of money today. I really hope Silas sells well enough to encourage more great male figures.
Is it me or does Silas look a bit like soccer player Neymar?
