Here's the updated version of the render. I hope the light is better now.
The tan is still pretty dark, though.
Steph 6 with around two thirds slender stephanie 6 morphs applied to torso, around one quarter to the breasts...
Of course I should not have said that about Josie, teenagers are sensitive. To paraphrase Stuart Mackenzie, “I went out of bounds there, she’ll be crying herself to sleep tonight on her huge pillow!”
Mom: What's wrong, honey?
Josie: Oh, Mom, people are making fun of my big ol' head on the internet! (sobs)
Steph Petite and Steph not so Petite at all..
2x Stephanie 6.
Short and not sooooo short at all. :D

Well, I blame Mike Myers, that is where the quote was from. But, I'm sure I'm doomed, she'll use all that extra brain capacity to go all Carrie on us! ;-P
I think Gen1-(V5) Justin is very happy with the New Stephanie... 6
We added some height of course, because no woman deserves to be short
Okay, okay. Hang on.
As someone who never topped 5'1, I have to take exception to that. I *like* being short. (Most of the time. When I don't have to get stuff down from the top shelf.)
:)
It's why I almost always use Steph as the basis for my digital portraits.

Yeah!
Nothing wrong with being tall if you're tall, but c'mon.

I agree with both these two, heck even DaWaterRat is taller than me.
Charge :D
Small Steph Stampede
3D is FUN
she looks good in this hair, does anyone know which hair this is?
thanks!
That's toulouse hair I think. It comes with g2 female starter essentials.
The big head on Josie is more suited to a younger character. . I actually don't think Josie or Jayden look like older teens. Older teens have more adult proportions, and Josie has a very stylized exaggerated shape, including huge eyes which is suited for kids but not for older teens. Maybe they were going for the anime/manga style... But to me it is a fail, since the girl looks a bit too stylized, and doesn't fit the same style as the other characters.
Steph is very dark skinned, which I happen to like. I like render a lot of mid-tone skinned characters and her skin will be quite useful.
Her head reminds me a lot of GIA though. In fact, she just looks like a shorter gia in many ways.
Oh God! I'm more small than justin :'- (
wow, she comes with normal maps. :)
48mb tiff files
can i convert those to png files? i've never used a normal map before, does it work with png?

oh kewl, thanks!
i'm blanking on a render inspiration for Stephanie. ... teapot music
Was certainly hoping there would be more releases for S6 today, there are some great characters, poses and outfits still too come!
I agree, that's always sort of bothered me about Josie. I generally like her, but she doesn't really look very 'real', like she's closer related to The Girl or Aiko than to Victoria or Stephanie.
Heh. her head is just too big. It is bigger than any of the adult characters. To grow into that head she'd have to be really tall. She is more manga fusion than the more realistic style characters.
Actually I think she's just about a perfect Disney heroine if you look at Tangled and Frozen. It's an incredibly popular style of late.
If you shrink the head size a few percent and play with the eyes a bit, you can get something that looks more "realistic" at least by my definition. I like her overall, but I have to play witchdoctor a bit and shrink her head for my purposes.
Also keep in mind that at the beginning of a render, DS may need to run the "tdlmake" utility to convert the image anyway. Converting a converted image may not give the best results.

Well, PNG is supposed to be lossless, or at least it was, you have to be careful, some people have made things that make it lossy, which kind of defeats the whole point. But, if everything follows true PNG spec, it should be lossless, so your colors would probably be right, it would just be a question of whether the renderer accepts PNG.
Yes, you can convert them. Both are lossless file formats, but PNG files are much smaller (especially when run through optipng) but preserve the exact same data. DAZ should really have packaged these as PNGs in the first place. But they've done the TIFF thing for all the Generation 6 figures that include normal maps.
Edit for ninja posts that beat mine:
* Studio and 3Delight support PNG for normal maps. So does LuxRender. File-type compatibility is not an issue these days.
* PNG is lossless, just like TIFF. It also supports arbitrary bit depths, can do 16-bit just like TIFF. PNG is much more efficient at how it stores image data, however. TIFF is an obsolete file format and there is really no reason to use it unless using old software that requires it (which does not apply to Studio). Because of this, a TIFF converted to PNG will give EXACTLY the same, bit-perfect image when loaded.
* 3Delight runs tldmake on EVERYTHING to create the mipmap files it uses at rendertime. Coming from TIFF or PNG makes no difference.
Greetings,

Wow; I just looked, and 3.2GB of my Runtime is taken up with TIF files. If I replaced those with .png files with the same name, would it work, or would I have to also find every .duf or .dsf or whatever that referenced them, and tweak those? I'm up for writing that script, if it'll save me a significant amount of that 3.2G to convert them all to lossless pngs...

...I have to agree. A Gen6 character that I really want (OK Josie also kind of as well) especially with SickleYield's Slender S6.
Alas she has to be another addition to the wishlist (and wait another sale).
I never did that much with S4, mostly because I could never find any decent clothes to fit her! When the unimesh fits for the various V4 clothing products were released, poor Stephanie was almost never invited to the party; there were fits for Aiko 4, the Girl 4 (which I have never used, and probably never will!), even She-Freak 4. But Stephanie always seemed to get left in the lurch.
That's why I hopped on Stephanie 5 when she appeared; I knew that there would be clothing options for her.
...for me Steph4 (along with the NPMs) was a godsend as the combination worked so well for creating teen characters since there were no Gen4 teens. I liked the different body/head shapes and facial morphs as well as the "generic" shapes that included a true "petite" physique.
This was where steph5 was a disappointment to me as there was no "petite" shape for the base Genesis (the "thin" morph only made her look anorexic) and other than the default S5, the two additional body shapes were anything but "petite" when it came to the hips and boobs. Thankfully there was GenerationX (albeit, a somewhat expensive plugin set) which allowed me to load Steph4, all her shapes/morphs, as well as the NPMs into Genesis.
I do agree about the clothing fits as before genesis & Autofit, I always seemed to get pokethrough in the upper abs in the front and shoulder blade regions in the back. The Morph Follower in Studio3 Advanced helped a bit but still had to do a lot of manual adjustment. Like you mention, they came out with a great character and then forgot about her when it came to updating clothing fits.
This release of Steph definitely has me very interested, even though apparently there is only the one base shape, as her proportions look so much better than her S5 "sister". Furthermore, the base G2F has improved breast sizing and shaping/proportion controls than the original Genesis. In addition, I also have all the G2F Head/Body Morph resource packs as well as Zev0's Growing up at my disposal as well.
...for me it is quite the opposite as fantasy is not a genre (OK, save for fey characters) I work in. I'm actually quite happy to see more contemporary clothing for once in a character/figure bundle. Since the original Genesis appeared, I usually would only get the base character as it seems there was too much stuff in the starter/pro bundles I never would use (save for maybe a character morph, some hair, or additional pose set) to justify the extra cost. Most often I would just "build" my own bundle with the components I did like and maybe a few extra items not included that were more in line with the work I do. So I didn't get the gens, not really that big a deal.
The only exceptions to the above were the YT5 Pro bundle as that did include nice selection of clothing as well as hair, characters, and poses (granted, fantasy skimpwear would have been a bit "inappropriate" for them), and V5/M5 Pro bundles which were included with the Carrara 8,5 Pro upgrade.
I don't own The Girl , and the lighting and render quality is rather lousy, but here you go. All characters are in default load mode:
G2F base, Vic 6 HD, regular Vic 6, Josie 6, Steph 6, Gia 6, Olympia 6 HD, regular Olympia 6
...thank you. Wow, Steph6 is smaller than Josie OOTB. makes that choice a lot simpler.
