March Madness is Here, Let the Madness Begin!!!

March Madness is here and here are the crazy details:

Everyday we will have a selection of new and related items available at 40% off if you buy one or 50% off if you buy two or more. You can find the current items on this page: http://www.daz3d.com/march-madness so make sure you check it every day because there will be new items daily. Owners or purchasers of Stephanie 6 Pro Bundle will receive an additional 10% on current March Madness items.

Certain March Madness items will give you a punch for your Madness Meter. These items are clearly marked on the March Madness page. The Madness Meter is pretty simple. For each item you purchase you get 1 punch. There are 4 tiers, and 5 punches per tier. Tier 1 is worth $1.00 per punch, tier 2 is worth $2.00 per punch and so on up to tier 4. Rewards will be given in the form of a coupon good for DAZ Originals. So say you earn 4 punches, you would get a coupon for $4.00 on DAZ Originals (some exclusions may apply). Rewards will be given out every week. When rewards coupons are issued, the meters will reset. This means your meter resets every week. But this also means that you receive a reward starting with your very first punch. The details for your madness meter can be found on the site wide banner when you log in. It will tell you how many punches you have, what tier you are at, and how much you have earned for that week. It will also tell you what your coupon code is for the previous week, and when that coupon expires.

Finally, items purchased with the coupon code as well as items purchased to gain a punch cannot be refunded once the coupon code is used. This means if you want to "opt out" for the sake of being able to return an item, all you have to do is refrain from using the coupon code.

I know this is a lot, so if there are any questions feel free to ask them in this thread.

If I'm reading right, that's 20 new releases per week to buy to reach max (4 tiers x 5 items per tier).

    That almost sounds like MM2012's buy-it-all. o_O

If you purchased any of yesterday's new releases you got punches for those, and they are still punch worthy through today for those who purchase them today.

That's why we call it march madness. The way we set it up was to reward those who purchased a lot of new releases, but also make it so that as long as you purchased at least one new release you got a reward. There is no minimum punch number you have to receive to get a reward... well actually there is, but that number is 1.

    That's actually pretty cool.

I seriously have a hard time imagining what I use the coupon for, as new releases are excluded. There just isn't anything I could use the coupon for that even marginally gets into the coupon value range.

Got a question, the coupon has to be used on one purchace, got that... does it have to be used on one item? For example, if I earn a $50 coupon in a week ($5+$10+15+20), can that be used against a shopping cart of qualified items (non-platnum, non-valu, not new), or does it have to be used on only one item?

Does that mean punches for tier 3 are $3 worth each and for tier 4 it is $4, so that all four tiers filled would be good for a $50 DO coupon for first week (5+10+15+20) ?

Yes, each week you have he potential to earn a $50.00 coupon. Remember that your tiers are per week. They reset at the end of each week.

It can be used on as many or as few DAZ Original items as you see fit. So if you wanted to buy 10 $5.00 items that would be fine. 1 $50.00 item would also work. The coupon just has to be used in one purchase. The reason for that, is there is nothing in the current system that allows for us to create a coupon that can be used gradually over multiple purchases and diminish in value.

So the "best case" (or "worst case"?!?) scenario is 4 coupons worth 200$ as a sum in the end? ... there is no chance in hell I can use those coupons to full extent with the current exclusions ... not even one coupon would work for me. How long is the validity of the coupons? If that is long enough I might be able to redeem them in 2015.

Well, you don't have to get all the punches. I recommend buying only the punch items you really want, then you can think of the coupon as a nice bonus.

Keep in mind that the Madness Meter is only part of the March Madness sale. There will still be hundreds, if not thousands of items in the 40/50 off sale that you can save on.

First of all, I don't buy products just for the sake of the punches. The thing is that I as a long term customer in the platinum club, who spent a lot of money in the DAZ store, don't feel rewarded, as I will be unable to redeem the coupons as I see it. It is a "bonus", yes, but DAZ is a business so I judge the business on how customers are rewarded in this case.

    You wrote before:

No, you don't really. I bought a hell of a lot of new releases over the last years and due to that I got literally no option to spend 200$ worth of coupons on - and please, no, Gen4, Gen3, etc. are not a worthwhile substitute. How about being able to get huge discounts on upcoming G2F / G2M pro bundle releases? Take it as you will, with the exclusion regarding "New Releases" especially this leaves a bad aftertaste for me at the moment.

This is kinda cool. No (significant) minimum to get something, and yet a clear advantage for those who can afford to go crazy (good luck, guys.)

And since I have this backlog of G2 Daz O releases that I've had to pass up for various reasons, I think I'm gonna like this sale. :) (and I was just complaining yesterday that I could really use a sale on Daz O hair... :D Can't take as much advantage as I'd like, but at least it's there.)

How long do we have to *redeem* any coupons? Are they only good through the end of the event, or can we hang onto them until something that came out, say a month or so ago becomes eligible to use it on?

Wait, is it really possible to get $200 coupons in the end Oo
That is an awful lot and very tempting.
My calculatiuons would be that I need an app. $400 to invest with the general items costing $5 a piece.
    So that's about $100 a week.
That is a lot of money BUT getting the $200 atop of that is a pretty cool deal.
Sadly, not something I can afford so I have to go with the lower teirs, which is still nice.

I'm doing a blog on what I buy every day of the sale. http://sickleyield.deviantart.com/journal/What-I-Bought-At-March-Madness-01-437545962

I can't wait for all the artist store sales so I can clear out my wishlist. This is a high-overhead occupation but I looooove the shopping parts.

    Everyday Household Items

I've always been happy with Maclean's items that I've bought, functional and flexible as they are. I was hopping in my chair over the excellent scene clutter bits in this set - I've actually wanted a mop, or bucket, or shopping bag, etc. a LOT of times and not had one that would just load up and look good in DS.

Hey, Thanks for the nice comment. Glad they're useful to you. And they look good in DS or Poser.

I read your blog entry. Thanks for your comments on the products. That is helpful. I'll be following this each day.

You're welcome! Them working well in DS is more important to me personally, because most clutter sets that presently exist are very old or Poser-only, and when you want to have 20 small objects in a scene, you don't want to have to adjust shaders on every single one. Time is money when I'm making promos, and I only work in DS at the present time.

That's great, barbult, feel free to share your comments on your own purchases, too.

Thanks. After studying your blog I've put Felicity, Everyday Household Items, and StreetWear T-Shirt in my cart. I'd like the bungalows and men, but I'm trying to keep my spending in check. After all, there are still 30 days to go! I don't have a DA account, so I guess I can't post there without one??

I've upped what I'm watching for you on dA to include the Journals. I think that's an awesome idea!

I wish I had the CPU power (and time) to go further and do a daily/semi-daily render with pieces that I got in MM...

Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to seeing your take on the items that come out! I jumped on Felicity, the T-Shirt, and the Household items myself. Wonderful stuff!

    Greetings,
What the heck, I have some time today. This took about half an hour to render, mostly I think because of the HD calculations which kill my poor laptop. When my desktop syncs with all the stuff I bought, I'll try dropping the light's intensity and make it bigger, and put it up on dA.

Used: Felicity, StreetWear's T-Shirt autofit to G2F, and a few household items scattered around (two bags and a corkscrew), and Juicy for Geek which I also picked up.

    Shhhhhhhhopping!
