It doesn't have DS2 or DS3, for example.

If you go to your Product Library and type
    dim::false
in the filter box, it'll list products that aren't in DIM; however, it will also list bundles which have their own pages in the Product Library, even though the individual products in the bundle may all be in DIM.

It does have DS3 if you bought the Advanced version ... just a small info.

Yes, Product Library has it, but DIM does not, DIM only installs DS4.6 (release version and public beta).

My DIM just updated to 1.1.0.28. Is there an announcement coming about the changes?

Am still not able to install 3D Bridge for Photoshop, I am using Photoshop CC 2014, it' s been months now. :(

Install Manager cannot find a required path. The package for "Photoshop 3D Bridge for DAZ Studio 4.5+ (Win 64-bit)" requires that the installed path for "Photoshop CS6, CS5, CS4 (64-bit)" be defined. Make sure that a path for this application is present on the "Applications" page of the "Settings" dialog, then try again.

    1.1.0.21 highlights are:

    4) Added support for mapping the application path of the Creative Cloud (CC) version of Photoshop; product packages require individual updates to support installation to a mapped CC path, which will be published over the next few days

And don't say file a bug report, been there, done that. Request #174420

    Very miffed indeed.

As far as I know we are still waiting for a version of the Bridge/DS that will work with the latest versions of PS CS. The change log suggests it is coming, at some point.

Hi Richard, this was the reply I recived on August 18th 2014,

    Hi Ian,

Sorry for the confusion. Yes you are following the steps correctly the problem right now is that the bridge for creative cloud is still in testing and will be released with the next full version of Daz Studio.

Let me know if you have any further questions?

    Thanks,

    Christopher

So you understand my frustration, especially as the 1.1.0.21 change log promised product packages require individual updates to support installation to a mapped CC path, which will be published over the next few days

It's not going to be 'Daz soon' is it ;)

I don't know when the next release will be, nor whether it will be a beta or a full release.

In fact the Public Beta version of this plug-in is part of the Public Beta release of DS 4.7, which happened about 30 minutes ago. .

Is it possible to install the Install Manager as stand alone on my notebook for instance? My test computer (where I had DIM and DAZ|Studio installed) crashed this afernoon  and I'm not ready yet to install it on my main computer however, with all the latest updates I would like to download them.

Question 2 is therefore, I have a back up made yesterday afternoon from my appdata/roaming so I hope I don't have to get my complete purchase history again. :shut: Is it possible to just put that in my appdata/roaming on my notebook too?

    Thanks in advance for answering,
    Love, Jeanne :)

Install Manager is standalone. There is no need for DAZ Studio at all with it.

If you have the download files you can just put them into the download directory for Install Manager and run the install. That is the cleanest way to do it.

Thank you Spooky for your fast reply.
I did install DIM on my notebook and put the AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ in the AppData on my notebook and it found my username, only had to put inmy password. Also my settings were there but.... not which files I installed already on my testcomputer. So, where does DIM put the record for that?

    Love, Jeanne :)
edited to add: the hard drive is broken and I can't acces it anymore :( :( so I really hope it's not on that. Or in any users/public or so...

The Manifest files are, by default, in Public Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles Copying over that folder might do the trick. If you put them somewhere else, I have no idea. :)

Hmmm, in that case they're lost I'm afraid because that was on my hard drive.(and no, for once I didn't change the default! LOL, never will I do that again for sure. ;) ) Luckily I have all the zips on an external drive but I sorted everything in different folders once they were installed.
So now I'm considering of putting them back in the folder I told DIM to put the downloads in (I can plug in the external in my notebook and give it the same name so the path will still be the same) or download them all anew.
Decisions, decisions.... but first I'm off to bed, almost midnight here in Holland and I'm dead tired.

I've noticed that recently a LOT of new releases seem to have a problem with the thumbnail being retrieved for the product. I suspect the main promos in the store are no longer being named so DIM can grab them? (just a thought, not sure if that is correct). Older products retrieve the thumbnail fine....new ones don't seem to. I am grabbing them manually, resizing them and adding them to the correct folder so they show, but as this is on the main things that I love about DIM (that, adn the blistering fast d/l speed I get compared to the site), I'm wondering if there has been any acknowledgement on this happening and perhaps a fix?

First let me say that the DAZ Install Manager (DIM) is one of those DAZ apps that after you get over the "OMG not another install manager" shock, you will grow to love and appreciate it (especially as it gets improved and upgraded).

Is there a forum topic specifically for suggesting future improvements to DIM?

    For instance:
When you log into DIM, it accesses your account to see all products you have purchased.
Since DIM does not display non-DIM compatible product purchases, could a new tab be
added titled "Non-DIM Products" that lists all of my other DAZ3D purchases that must be
downloaded and installed from the Product Library? I find that I am becoming more and
more dependent on DIM to install products that I have purchased at DAZ and this would
help keep track of those that need manually installed too (100% coverage as it were).

A workaround for now - go to your product library and use the filter dim::no to see everything that doesn't currently have a dim download.

When I installed the latest update, it took away all but 6 of the product updates. Don't know why. I had a couple dozen waiting to install before I did the newest update. I closed and re-entered as someone suggested and there were still only six. Anyone else lose product updates when they installed?

If I lost any updates, I wouldn't know. I usually don't hesitate with installing them, except when it is a What to install first decision.

The bigger question now that I think about that last bit. How many of the 'Pending Updates' were for products you were yet to install? I remember a PA stating that an update for a figure would not be needed if installing from scratch after a certain date.

I usually install all updates immediately myself. However, I have just completed an update for DS through DIM and all of the product updates in my "Ready To Download" tab disappeared. I noticed the number count on my "Ready To Install" tab had increased and there they were. They must have downloaded automatically with my DS upgrade and were moved to the other tab.

This may not be the case with other missing product updates. I usually just stay on the Ready To Download tab, and so if anyone else is like me then it can easily be overlooked. If this happens to anyone be sure to look at the "Ready To Install" tab listing.

I finally got the DIM & DS to communicate - but still see some files in the DIM that are missing in DS...
For example, Garden Pond https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/files/prod/2697/ is shown on the DIM installed list, but does not come up in either the Smart Library or the simple search.

I can find it on the product library list in My Account, showing it as purchased and available as a DIM ready product.

BTW, I have tried using the "Download and Install" button on the product pages, and always get the following page:

File not found Firefox can't find the file at daz3dim://download/462d2cfbb38e3de335557b09e8eb99a5/product_id/2697. Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors.
Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.

Also, I finally found a list in the library folder that seems to list the installed products:

    C:\Users\username\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\ReadMe's\ProductLists

There is one problem, however...this list contains 607 items, but the Product Library in my account has 984 - and the DIM installed list says 1248...

So, the numbers simply are not adding up correctly.

    Edit to add:
Why does "Genesis Starter Essentials" appear when I search for "Garden"?

Readme's/ProductLists will have lists of files from products that still have the old readme's in the zip, so it won't match what DIM has installed.

Garden Pond shows up for me in Content Library > Poser Formats > [content folder name] > Props > Scenery
It doesn't have metadata so it won't show up in Smart Content.

Not sure why you get Genesis Starter Essentials when you filter on Garden, I don't in DIM nor in Product Library.

OK...so that list shows everything that DAZ Studio thinks it has installed in the library, with and without the metadata?

No, those are old file lists from when readme's were included in the zips, they have nothing to do with DIM.

    Got it.

Now, if I uninstall everything using the DIM, that put's it all in the "to be installed" field...

Is there any way for me to actually delete everything from that list - and have it download everything again?

Or do I need to completely uninstall DIM as well?

EDIT: Found an easier way -delete the Downloads folder...

Yes, that will do the trick.
If you want to know what DIM installed, here's the path to it: C:\Users\Public\Documents\DAZ 3D\InstallManager\ManifestFiles\
In that folder there should be all the .dsx files for the installed items. You can open such a file in your textfile reader (I use editpad Lite for that) and then you'll see everything according to the item, order date, install date, files installed for it, and so on.

Hope this will help a bit.

    Love, Jeanne :)

DIM and Studio do not communicate with each other in any direct way. DIM and Studio both communicate with the CMS database with DIM writing updates as it installs and Studio reading and writing to it. This is why it is not a good idea to have Studio open while installing with DIM as it can corrupt the database.

The Downloads location can be changed (or may be different if it was changed). If you need to find out for sure, just open DIM and then click the maintenance cog in the upper-right corner and select the Downloads tab from the popup. The path being used by DIM will appear in the Download To field.

    It does, thanks.
And the count in the Manifest file matches what DIM says it installed.
The DS Smart Library says 984...

But I am beginning to see the reason for that.
I have been counting "Products", but I see that a lot of the "installed" products are both Ps & Ds (Poser & Daz), and since I am using DS, it makes sense that it would use the DS file and ignore the Ps, which would account for the difference in counts.
Is there any way to exclude the PF product files from the DIM or even the download? I remember I used to do that on the old downloads page, but I don't see it in the My Account/Product Library...

I also have a lot of products that require a base product that I don't have (V4 clothing, but no v4 base figure), and that is creating a problem in understanding what I actually have available to use. I would be nice to have the option to only show the base product list in DS, so I don't have to wade through the entire list...but that's something I'll need to work out myself - I got the add-ons because they we cheap or free, and didn't bother to get the base item....

I'm currently reinstalling everything, will get back later.

    Thanks.

Edit: OK I found the filter page in DIM - I had previously set this not to download Ps files, it didn't seem to have stopped that. I reset it and started a download and now it has dropped the Ps files.

And, if I understand correctly, DIM does nothing with files in the My Account/Product Library that I get listed when I do the "dim::no" trick? I have to download those and manually install them...in another path that "My DAZ3D Library...?

Now I need to go through the 3rd party stuff and get that installed at some point...
