I'm having trouble downloading the new Install Manager - both when I launch the program and it asks to update itself - it just whirls away and does not update eventually aborting the update attemp; and if I try to download from the Daz DIM page that also just stalls. Both times the error message finally given is "Network error".
Can anyone recommend what to do to get the download - I have a broadband internet connection so that shouldnt be the cause of the problem?
Try downloading it from your product library and installing it manually.

Down there is the link to Mac and win installers ...
i think it's bull shit that i have to click a new EULA to get to thing i have all ready paid for. and no i will never agree to give up my rights to any company.
You have to agree to the EULA with any new digital product that you purchase. Before the "new" system came into operation you were agreeing to the EULA every time you installed a product using the old installers. Now with the newer system you only need to agree to the EULA once when you do your first download from DAZ 3D and then afterwards just once every so often if there has been an update to the EULA.
Do you not remember this

I'm still trying to work out how to properly reinstall files.
4R7 updated from 4.5.1.6. Advanced Pro recently. DIM latest. Most things seem to work as before.
Please advice the proper way to reinstall files via DIM. Also how to delete unwanted install files from DIM.
I tried to reinstall LAMH (installed early 2013 version no longer works), and found that it is impossible to erase/delete the uninstalled version from DIM. DIM didn't seem to overwrite the older version automatically when I tried to install the DIm version from my product library. Eventually I manually installed the latest version. LAMH works now (still buggy after 4.7 update but that's a separate issue)
Now the older uninstalled LAMH version just sits there cluttering up DIM along with all the poser/legacy files I didn't want. Right click etc no option to delete.
Today when I tried to load Tori her Surfaces didn't load properly, she looks "silvery". Decided to reinstall Tori. As usual can't delete uninstalled Tori file from DIM. So went to Product library and click on install Tori via DIM button. DIM loads, I presume it automatically overwrites the Tori file.
EDIT: okay something has changed after "reinstall", overwritten or not still unclear. Now Tori loads in Smart Content (she disappeared along with Gabi after update to 4.7).
But she is still silvery. All her maps loaded except diffuse map. I manually loaded skinhead_C and that looks right. A bug I think.
Tori is loading like that because there's a reflection map applied - the strength is set, by a map, to be low but the preview isn't accounting for that. I don't think it's a bug, just a limitation of what the viewport preview can do (in this case it's probably worth using the AuxViewport and IPR to check things as you work, though I'd be inclined to redo the material settings for Tori).
Thanks for responding Richard. It's reassuring to know that silvery Tori is a new normal. Indeed I can't work without AVP and IPR now, a revolutionary step for DS that made me come back to DAZ world and shopped some more. Now if only DS upgrade its native OpenGL to have real-time shadow and less silly reflection it will be truly awesome!
Back to Tori and DIM...
After I reinstalled Tori I also reinstalled Gabi. Relaunching DS, there is a CMS something button in Smart Content tab. I just clicked, probably a need to reimport metadata has been detected. Now I get all the actors visible in Smart Content Figures first level including Tori and Gabi (versus 3 only in the pic posted). Cool.
Tori's diffuse maps now miraculously load per normal. So problem solved.
DIM related questions remain unanswered though... Thanks much.
Are these products showing up in the "Installed" tab even after uninstalling, or are they now in the "Ready to Install" or "Ready to Download" tab?
Good question. I have un/reinstalled some products since upgrade to 4.7 using DIM latest.
Most uninstalled products go straight to 'Ready to Download'. A few 'Ready to Install'.
What I've done so far:
1. For those that went to Ready to Download - I went to My Product Library webpage, click install via DIM. If it seems to behave afterwards I presume I have the latest. Mostly worked, except LAMH, which refuse to update to latest make. I had to manually install it to get the latest 4.7 compatible version.
2 For those that went to Ready to Install - I just right click to delete them, they then end up in Ready to Download tab. Rinse and repeat (1) above.
Is this normal DIM behavior? Am I doing it right?
How to clean up my Ready to Download tab with a few unwanted Poser files? I hid them but being OCD...
For ref I went straight from 4.5.1.6. to 4.7 and bypass 4.6 altogether. There had to be some metadata holes somewhere I think.
On the Ready to Download tab click on "Download Filters" and uncheck any applications you don't want.
You can also right-click on entries in the Ready to Download and choose Hide Packages, either one at a time or all selected.
Poser is unchecked in filter for some time now. I think the Poser files were downloaded during the babystep stage of DIM. Now they just sit there albeit hidden. So no way to get rid of them totally?
I recently bought AOA atmospheric effects camera. There's a "for D/S 3-4" file that auto-downloaded which I probably don't need so it also just sits there.
Another thing that remains unclear after much google search - do I need to install any StudioCF file? I'm a 100% Daz non-Poser user.
Thanks again.
Check the tags on the Poser files -- for some products the Poser version is the one to use for DS as well (hover over the item -- the popup shows the tags).
StudioCF's are DAZ Studio material presets for items that are in Poser format. They aren't for use in Poser.
I’ve bought SKU:8040 , PFE for DAZ 4.7($6) , but I can't download it .
PFE for DAZ4.5($0) is always in my INSTALL-MANAGER . When I check its order information , the net browser jump to PFE for DAZ 4.7($6).
So I think maybe DAZ confuse the old and new version of PFE .
I want my PFE I just bought.....
Please request a refund - you don't need to repurchase the script for 4.7 compatibility, and it should still be showing as free as far as I know (it is for me, but it's possible it isn't for PC members).
In DIM when you filter by SKU it gives you a choice of ranges. I just noticed the store has exceeded the highest range. (DIM up to 19,999 and the store is already over 20000). Is this something we can 'fix' ourselves? or?
You can type any numbers you want for the SKU range. Just select one and type over the numbers it gives you. Or type the whole thing with sku::[low,high]
Thanks. Yeah, I know how to do that. I just want to know how to add it to the current list. The list itself doesn't seem available to the user.
The only way I can figure how to do it, is to do what you said then save the filter. I'd want to save it in the same menu place as the current list, and that will override the current list. I can then 'edit filter' and it should bring me to where it saved and then I can type in everything missing. I don't want to have to do that.
Alternatively I could save the filter as a new menu item 'Filter by SKU's after 20000' but that isn't very elegant.
The DIM thing needs alot of work, but the worst part of it all, the archaic part is the inordinately SLOW downloads.
Who wants to buy content and waste hours downloading with the DIM thing. It is easier to just do manual downloads and that is a pain as well.
Daz controls the number of simultaneous downloads, so they should be able to manage much faster download streams.
Firefox downloads 6 files all at great speeds, and you can tweak the firefox config and manage more downloads at terrific speeds. I use up to 10 simultaneous downloads with Firefox.
There are some of us on T1 and very fast broadband connections. I pay extra to improve downloads, uploads and web experience.
Computer OS are dog softwares, and we have to wait enough as it is. Couple that with dialup download speeds and you really have a big dog.
I think the idea behind the DIM isn't bad. It might be half passable, if download speeds were alot faster.
Download manually to the DIM downloads folder (or point the DIM downloads folder to your normal download location, though that could get untidy) and you can then install using DIM, if you want. It does seem to have been a bit slower than usual recently.
My impression has been that it's filling in the box of the already installed 2000+ products that seems to take most of the time.
My posting abit harsh. I should have just asked for some workaround ideas.
I can really zoom the files down with my browser into the dim download folder. I have spent alot of time working with the DIM, because I like the readme thing. This way, if i I have incomplete content and need something else I can find.
I also have my UAC set to only install applications when I "run as administrator".
Downloads for use with installer vs Manual... is there difference?

For content (as opposed to software or plugins) the downloads are the same. DIM downloads an extra file with information like your order number, the date of the package, etc., bu that isn't necessary to install it with or without DIM.
Today I noticed what I think is new behaviour. DIM is deleting the ZIP files from the downloads folder after the product is installed. For me, it has never done this in the past and I actually back up that folder regularly so that I have a fallback if DAZ goes tits up!
Is this behaviour intentional? Can it be configured?
Look at the bar at the bottom of the Ready To Install pane. "Delete Package Once Installed' tickbox. Untick.
It's easy to turn it on without meaning to as an accidental click anywhere round the box or over the words will tick/untick the option, not only clicking actually in the tickbox.
Aaarghhh! Of course!
Thanks.

What's with this EULA thing DIM is giving me?
It tells me that before I can download, I need to read and accept the EULA - yet again! It can't take me there automatically and I have no idea on how to access this EULA through my account.
Unfortunately, whenever DAZ updates their EULA (End User License Agreement) for their line of digital products, we all have to "agree" with it to continue using our accounts. After you log in, you can find it here:
http://www.daz3d.com/eula
I'm reasonably sure that the reason we have to re-agree is because of recent changes at DAZ to incorporate 3D printing...
Thank you - the link you provided worked and all is now well :)
Strange, though - when DIM took me to that same address, I got an "unresponsive page" error!
