I hope everyone having the issues are putting in a support ticket about it so that it will get fixed. Seems like if more people report it, it might get a quicker response on a fix? I'm not sure but it might be worth a try.

Got a reply to my support ticket, in which I linked this thread, and was told that Daz QA could not reproduce the problem.  We are all hallucinating.

At least there was a quick resolution.

Yes, but what's a resolution without a solution.

There are 7 files in the DIM download.  They rearranged the files, so if you're missing any of the seven that would explain the problem.  If you modified her textures, you may have additional problems.  I updated her and she still has the arm seam and eyebrows and eyelashes problem, but otherwise she works no worse than before.

I have a ticket in because of the things that don't work anyway and QA is supposed to be looking into it.

I have a ticket in for the thigh seam, but I've since just moved on to a new character.

  • I don't suppose any of this has been fixed has it? I just got this in the holiday sale, and haven't had time to play with it yet.

There's an update in DIM today, but no mention of changes in the readme.  What got changed?

  • was about 5 seperate updates for her over 3GB

  • well in the main fig duff there are two version one with real eyebrows oe without eyebrows, 3 eyelashes, 5 eyebrows in her hair section, in materials 4 realistic eyes options ( I have no idea what it is) . I never really went through all the options before so not sure what else is new but there are glowing earrings and other jewlery, nose colours/side shadows, several tatts, lots makeup hair shaping, does look like a lot but like said never really went through everything

Looks like the entire product was overhauled, the zips went down from 7 to 5 and have been completely repacked. I just uninstalled and reinstalled so I can't say exactly what was changed though.

  • like said before my updates were over 3 GB but the zips luckily for those go that way are compressed well for those that prefer downloading the zips

    zip sizes are
    zip 1 = 678 MB
    zip 2 = 772MB
    zip 3 = 640 MB
    zip 4 = 549 MB
    zip 5 = 512 MB

Normally the zip structure is that the data and Library files are in the first zip and then, if needs be, extra zips are created to take care of the extra texture files so the zips don't become too large for the server. If the data and library files are changed but the textures are the same then only zip one is updated for download. In this case the entire product was repackaged and so all the zips need redownloading irrespective of how you access them, DIM, manually or Connect (shudder). DIM just automates the downloading of the zips so eveyone gets the same files just a different way.

Right, but my question is this: when there is an update, are the file in our product library updated as well? I take it the answer is yes

  • HaruchaiHaruchai Posts: 1,980

Apologies if I mssed the point of your post. Yes, my understanding is that the product Library is updated at the same time, if not first.

Just got Gou Luk, but she loads with a messed up skin. Her included skin preset also throws errors. Looks like it is looking for textures that are not included. Anyone else having this problem?

I went through her texture files to apply the leg and face textures myself, but I can't find them anywhere.

Edit: Nevermind! I restarted DIM and another Gou Luk item was available to download. The weird thing is that it didn't show up at first. I had definitely checked all available downloads the first time around. But it's there now, so whatever.

[EDIT] : This was my initial experience but after someone pointed out that they did not share this experience I tried again - please see my subsequent post further down the thread.

I bought this at today's big discount and have to say that I'm glad that I didn't pay full price. The main problem for me is that the skin texture has a big, painted-on crease where the thigh meets the glute and, of course, that is a big no-no for me because as soon as the thigh is bent, the painted crease stretches to a wide and ugly smear. I can't understand why PAs still do this - I've been complaining about it since V4 days.

Otherwise, there are lots of make-up options which are LIE so take a long time to load. I would prefer it if the make-up could be used with any skin but in this case, as soon as you use the reset to try a different style, it re-loads the Gou Luk skin.

I then tried the clothes and, at first glance, it looks like the clothes are only meant to fit this character. I loaded the pants to a base G8F and they were distorted around the waist with significant poke through even with mesh smoothing. Increasing the smoothing distorts the waistband even more. As I'm not interested in using the character shape, again this is not going to be something I can use. So I think I will reclaim my disk space and uninstall.

Wow, i was about to buy this as for 1.99 seems cheap even with a couple of the previous mentioned problems. But if most of this "bundle" is only meant to be used for this character then i think i will save my credit.

My experience differs. Firstly, removing the LIEs is as simple as hitting "undo" so that doesn't bother me. Secondly, I don't see what you mean about the waist. I get zero poke-through when loading on a G8 base (it comes with smoothing turned on). Turning off the smoothing exposes a tiny chip of poke-through that is well within normal parameters and can easily be adjusted through the supplied morphs if you want to turn off the smoothing. Lastly, the hair alone is worth 1.99 and the extra accessories etc. makes it a slam dunk. Your mileage may vary.

That's alot of content for only $1.99. I can't think of any other bundle on any website that will give you more for the same price or less.

What about other morphs like Voluptuous or anything not default G8 to skinny?

My fear is actually getting cloth and accesories that the most basic changes need too much work to correct.

My apologies - I have just loaded the pants again and could not repeat the initial experience. I might have had some morph dialed in but I am pretty sure I didn't. However, I had been trying many different things on that same G8F base figure so something must have gone out of whack. Just to confirm - I dialled-in some character morphs and the pants conformed to the shapes so I can't get that deformation to re-appear.

As for LIE - I am always a little wary of using CTRL-Z because DAZ Studio tends to have memory issues and I am not sure that CTRL-Z clears the previously loaded memory allocation. Probably my unfounded doubts but if there is a reset script I tend to opt for that.

As far as not-skinny morphs, I just got a fair amount of poke-through in the butt and back of the thighs when loading them on Latonya. But I managed to fix it with the included adjustment dials. Same with the voluptuous morph.

    edit: Same with heavy.

I wish all makeup options were L.I.E. Sure, it takes ten seconds to load or so, but you can use that makeup on any skin whereas if it's just a material setting, you're stuck using that skin texture (unless there's a trick I don't know about which might very well be the case). Yes, the Gou Luk bundle has had it's issues in the past for sure, but you'll definitely get your money's worth somehow with everything it contains.

I find a lot of LIE lipsticks don't blend in a believable way, but maybe I haven't found a good set yet.

If you go into the LIE setting directly, you can adjust a layer's opacity. Perhaps a slightly lower opacity would look more believable.
