As for LIE - I am always a little wary of using CTRL-Z because DAZ Studio tends to have memory issues and I am not sure that CTRL-Z clears the previously loaded memory allocation. Probably my unfounded doubts but if there is a reset script I tend to opt for that.

The long-hand way of removing LIE layers is just to go into the LIE settings directly. It's a pain, but it works.

Maybe obvious but I never thought of doing that. I think I was put off LIE when it first appeared because of the long delays. I'm really surprised that, even with a much more powerful GPU and CPU these days, it is still so lethargic.

BY the way, for lips with blending options I use this: Ultimate Make-Up for Genesis 8 Female(s) | Daz 3D

But I also wish that all make-up could be used on any character.

  • If you have skin builder, you can use masks inside the product (dig into the textures folder) as masks for colored LIE layered makeups*. I used to do this all the time with G3. I don't have Skin Builder for G8, but I wonder if the same masks would work on a G8F? I will have to try that later.

*Just add a LIE layer of the color make up you want, then add a mask to that layer of the right shape from the SB Makeup texture folder.

Otherwise, there are lots of make-up options which are LIE so take a long time to load. I would prefer it if the make-up could be used with any skin but in this case, as soon as you use the reset to try a different style, it re-loads the Gou Luk skin.

I then tried the clothes and, at first glance, it looks like the clothes are only meant to fit this character. I loaded the pants to a base G8F and they were distorted around the waist with significant poke through even with mesh smoothing. Increasing the smoothing distorts the waistband even more. As I'm not interested in using the character shape, again this is not going to be something I can use. So I think I will reclaim my disk space and uninstall.

My experience differs. Firstly, removing the LIEs is as simple as hitting "undo" so that doesn't bother me. Secondly, I don't see what you mean about the waist. I get zero poke-through when loading on a G8 base (it comes with smoothing turned on). Turning off the smoothing exposes a tiny chip of poke-through that is well within normal parameters and can easily be adjusted through the supplied morphs if you want to turn off the smoothing. Lastly, the hair alone is worth 1.99 and the extra accessories etc. makes it a slam dunk. Your mileage may vary.

My apologies - I have just loaded the pants again and could not repeat the initial experience. I might have had some morph dialed in but I am pretty sure I didn't. However, I had been trying many different things on that same G8F base figure so something must have gone out of whack. Just to confirm - I dialled-in some character morphs and the pants conformed to the shapes so I can't get that deformation to re-appear.

This may happen if the character isn't selected when you apply the clothing, so it doesn't autofit.

Maybe so. One of my really bad habits is to load clothing parented to other clothing (shoes parented to pants, for example) because I forget to go back and select the figure. Might have been something like that.

  • There's a lot of models and textures for 1.99. Wardrobe and accessories alone. Pretty good deal even if some things need adjustments before use.

I suspect not using cntrl-Z would cause memory issues, not the other way round. By applying the reset, then the original setting is kept in memory, since in theory you could hit cntrl-Z later.

Where is the $1.99 price coming from? Looks to be $16.18 on my end. I'm PC+ btw.

Thanks, I'll look for it this weekend for the $2.99 catch-up. All I want is that shredded tank top, lol.

The shredded top looks nice, but at least one of the opacity maps leads to a quite strange look, with some parts of cloth kinda "floating" on the body without any connection to the rest of the top...

    Still for $ 1.99 (or $ 2.99) it's a bargain.

Further update to my previous posts. I am still getting a lot of poke through. This time I was trying to fit the clothes to a more muscular female and just have patches of skin poking through in places where smoothing is not helping. I also tried the hair but can't get it to rest on the chest if I use the shorter morphs.

I like Gou Luk (and hair) well enough. I bought her the day she came out, but am just getting around to trying her out.

She is $1.99 right now and I bought. Looks like a very complete character package.

I bought the bundle today as well. Looking forward to trying it out.  Hard to believe it was only $2.99.

Agreed. Remarkable value for money. The figure is really not for me, but the clothing is astonishingly extensive, and the hair adds another option to the arsenal too.
