I could afford a couple of items....$60 US later (about $86 CAD) which at $0.80 each because I'm a PC club member amounts to .75 items. That's the not thank you part

@kimH Haha same boat here. However, how did you manage to bring it down to $0.80 each? Mine is at $0.90 after adding the Holt Add-on 10% discount otherwise it's all at $1.00 - and I am a PC+ member.

Not sure how. I didn't have anything but the sale items in my cart. I did have a purple banner yesterday about an extra 20 percent off everything in my cart because of all the bundles I bought but I thought it was a one shot deal and I spent money yesterday....maybe it is still in effect. So if I had a Holt add-on I could have saved even more...bummer....lol.

@kimH Oh lucky you! Enjoy it :) I purchased my Holt Bundle too late so never got that purple banner... I am using CC Jack because it takes $0.10 off each item so its own net cost drops to about $6.

8 for $2.99 is only PC+ items as I remember so that probably won't happen to these items that are on sale now, but correct me If I'm wrong.

I'm really doing a terrible job at this "spending less" thing, aren't I? I've somehow added another $20 or so to my cart AND there's that clearance sale Elsewhere (plus half off certain software)! But it sounds like a lot of what I want are things that honestly might not ever hit that 30-40 cent range, and $1 is hardly a bad price.

@CoreRegina I feel your pain... the problem is I am sure that we ALL already have waaaaay too much stuff that we have never used hahaha this "I will use it some day" thing is being stretched so thinly... I would need 3 lifetimes to use all my purchases! But you are probably right... most of the stuff that go in the 8@$2.99 promo were DO's and not PA items like Cookie. ps. don't spend too much now just prior to PA/PC sales!! :P

The Vintage Boxing set is indeed for G2M... I like the shiny textures and look very much, even much more than the recent Boxing Pro Bundle I purchased. I know I could wait out for it to go for less than a buck or even as a freebie but at $2, I decided to "splurge" :P I actually joined Daz3D more than 15 years ago and only came back this March and only now started learning DS in all earnesty.. so I have mostly G8 figures and a couple of G7 but I shall go take a look at Gianni 6. My all time favorite though is hands down M4 - that fella gets to me every time I come across him (which explains why I have 45 M4-related $1 stuff sitting in my cart right now) hahaha

@DMax I'll hit 60 product library pages if I buy all of this stuff, and it blows me away that this is a modest collection by forum standards. I can't even imagine beginning to use all of it, there are so many "this may be useful" and "I'll probably never use this but it's too good a deal to pass up just in case" purchases, which is why Cookie and Chip are in my cart. They're great characters and Lady Littlefox does such great toons that for a couple of bucks, I can't not buy them. Who knows, after all! RDNA had so much amazing stuff, and while I wish they'd remained independent I'm glad that lots of the products and PAs are still around. (And that I backed up those purchases because not all are...)

I'm going to spend way too much before the sales, and then way too much during the sales. Especially with PP11 being half off right now, it's the perfect time to upgrade that and also take advantage of all the RDNA Poser goodies on sale over here. I've invested very heavily in DS lately and want to begin doing proper artistic renders with it, not just conceptual stuff for other projects, but sometimes I also just want to sink into the warm, familiar, sometimes frustrating embrace of the Cloth Room. Oh hey, look at that dynamic Arki stuff on sale...!

I have two early-generation loves. The first is D3, who got quite the workout with me and deserved a better successor than he got (though at least we have the D3 Genesis shape), and the second is M4. I have a bunch of gorgeous things for him, lots of Xurge3D armor and the like. M3 was my first Michael, I bought him and V3 on sale back in 2006. The next day I bought a bunch more stuff full-priced because I was hooked and impatient, lol. But M4 was much more fun to work with and I built some of my favorite characters with D3, ones I'm still in love with and am currently recreating with G8M.

Gianni 6 (the Vintage Boxing Outfit guy) was the first core character who really made my head whip around all on his own, which surprised me because I'm not usually into pure beefcake. There's just something about his face that gets me every time, though. The first promo for the Darkwoods Hero outfit may be my favorite promo shot of all time, and the ones for Fighting Monk are also up there. I'm almost exclusively G8M these days, but he's the G2M boy I'll never be able to shelve. I have the Genesis 2 Legacies morph that I can transfer to G8M but honestly it doesn't look as good as the G2M version. Part of that is the skin, I'm sure (and thank heavens for IG's Iray conversion), but I'd love to have a proper HD Gianni 6 morph for G8M that looks as good as the original.

    @WendyLuvsCatz

Yeah I'm letting my cart marinate for a few hours, then I'll go back and see what I might want to prune.

I want to see how well this outfit will transfer over to G3F via Star 2.0.  Has anyone else tried it?

    https://www.daz3d.com/ruby-red-for-star

Lady Littlefox is a savant of many things cute.  As in too cute!

I'm trying to avoid getting sucked down the Cookie rabbit hole, but there is just soooooo much cute Cookie stuff!  I wish it would autofit easily to say Genesis...

I do have Cookie btw, and added Chip to my cart finally so that Cookie doesn't feel all alone.  I tend to focus on more realistic characters, but those two make me want to venture into toon land!

My predicament exactly!!! Well I had 150 cookie items in my wish list and 35 in my cart, marinated overnight and I decided I will just get Cookie, Chip and one wardrobe and hair each plus one more item, limiting myself to $4.50 as I know how deep that rabbit hole can go, this being a new genre for me. And I asked myself realistically what I could do with these if I cannot use them with other DS products (answer: rather limited). So all the others will have to stay in wish list land until they either become even cheaper (perhaps but unlikely) or I run out of things to play with (very unlikely). But yeah, cookie and chip... and lil'bit are seriously cuteness overload @tj_1ca9500b

Not Genesis but you can use Evil Innocence's Cross Dresser to convert it to other pre-Genesis figures such as V4 and M4.

Not necessarily! I realize that I am not helping with the whole "prune the cart" thing, but turnabout is fair play, right? ;)

Someone stop me if this has already been tried, but...

It might be worth trying Evilinnocence's CrossDresser, they likely made a LOT of the Cookie wardrobe that you've currently got in your wishlist. You buy licenses and then you can convert stuff from any of the characters that they support, to the character that you have a license for. Unfortunately the Genesis series isn't supported, but M4 is! So are tons of independent characters, including Cookie and Chip -- meaning you could buy licenses and use that M4 wardrobe you're picking up on them.

Basically I'm wondering whether converting to M4 and then converting that new item upward with one of the conversion scripts available here on Daz would work. XD4 creates a completely new item instead of just morphs, or at least that's what my Runtime folder of converted geometries suggests. It's been years since I used it but I'm preeeeetty sure that I actually own the XD4 license for M4, so maybe this evening I'll play around and see if XD4 + the RSSY M4 to G8M clothing converter can act as a bridge between some of the Cookie and Chip stuff that I already have, and G8M (also possibly G8F with an additional assist from either the Genesis 8 Cross-Figure Resource Kit or RSSY Cross-Gender Clothes for Genesis 8).

It wouldn't be perfect and that's if it even works at all, which is a BIG if. I'm not sure how XD tags its converted items and the RSSY converters are scripts that look for gender/generation (I ran into a problem with a product here a few days back because the PA didn't set the preferred base properly), and running things through multiple utilities can get messy in a hurry. Plus Cross-Gender Clothes used to not even work on items that had been sent through the RSSY intergenerational scripts (though it has since been updated), and Cross-Figure Resource needs things set up in a very specific way that the parenting behavior of some items interferes with (I had to write my own read-me for how to handle those situations).

But it would be an interesting experiment, and if successful it would also really stretch how far we can take these older products for standalone figures. I've never tried feeding Wear Them All a converted clothing item, so I will play with that as well. I wish there was a Genesis 8 version of WTA, but autofitting up from G3M to G8M might still go okay. I'm really wishing we'd see a sale like the one I missed in February for WTA, as I only have the G3M pack and neeeeeeeed the G3F version and also the G3F/M expansions that provide Gen3 clones. David 3's wardrobe rides again!!

I have many of those, but there still are some old items I want for kitbashing and such.

This time, I only bought one thing in the end, though: https://www.daz3d.com/steampunk-fabulous-egg

I've weeded through the RDNA products pretty heavily over the last three years, but I'm getting the global 10% discount on top of another global 20% discount, which takes the price of each item down to about 72 cents, so at those prices I'm willing to buy a whole item just to experiment or get some of the accesories.  I picked up around 80 items yesterday, mostly older Star clothing and hair, some Cookie animal costume items, some Kids 4 clothing and a number of Evil Innocence items.

I ended up not pruning my cart.  I only had around 3 dozen products in the cart when I finalized my order, and it was a great place to use my '$6 off of $18' PC+ coupon.  I did think of looking at the sales page one more time to see if I wanted to add anything else, but decided to wait for the next killer sale, which hopefully shows up someday.

I'm trying not to spend a lot right now, in anticipation of the PC+ Anniversary sale that's coming up.  The store change issues are weighing on my mind as well ATM, but that's being discussed in another threaad.

In any case, I did manage to autofit that Ruby Red for Star outfit to Aiko 7 via Star 2.0.  There's some weirdness going on with the leg garters, and of course the shoes aren't cooperatiing, but the Rivetina boots look pretty good with the outfit after tweaking the texture colors.  I'll need to figure out how to fix the garter and draping issues at some point.  The hair looks pretty cool too after applying hair shaders to it, but even with just parenting it, the bangs don't appear to be poseable, but there's always mesh grabber I guess!.  The very long ponytail is posable still of course, but I did need to tweak the x-y-z scaling of the head area to get the hairstyle to match up with the shape of Aiko's head a bit better.  In any case, work in progress, as I'll need to figure out the leg garter and skirts issue...

All in all, this sale was a nice weekend distraction at least!

If Lady Littlefox updated this outfit and hairstyle for G3F or G8F, I'd buy the updated outfit/hair!

This is just a WIP.  As I noted above, I autofitted to Star 2.0 then transferred across to Aiko 7. I went with a pair of stockings and the Rivetina boots instead of the shoes and left sock that comes with the outfit.  No postwork here, I did end up using mesh grabber to nudge the locks of hair that drape over the nose.  Also did some color adjustments to the textures, so that they looked a bit less 'plastic' in Iray.

This is just intended as a WIP.  If I were to do more with this, I'd do some adjustments to the stocking to get them to align better with the garters, but I mainly just wanted to show off the Ruby Red dress here.

I'm surprised how well the hair shader did on the 'anime style' hair.  It's a fun looking hairstyle!

You can sort of see the issue with the leg garters.  They are wider than the leg, and I had to pose them manually.  Even then, still not fitting properly.  It'd be nice if the skirts had their own adjustment morphs that werent tied to the leg.  There's 'handles' with the dress, but I think the autofit prunes that functionality... Not sure how handles are supposed work in any case, as I work almost exclusively with Genesis figures, along with the occasional V4/A3 character.

But yeah, back on point.  I'd love to see Lady Littlefox update this outfit and hair should she be so inclined - it's a really cute outfit and hairstyle!!!

It was a nice sale till it lasted.

  • I ended up just getting the Eowyn for G2F gown & its textures set, which I have wanted for ages. I would have gotten more but already had a bunch of items from Unreal Deals in my cart.

I should take the suggestion of someone above & go through the RDNA items and wishlist things that caught my eye but I skipped this past weekend. They are on sale, usually with good discounts, often. And I have plenty of Iray shaders for when the Iray base isn't enough. Plus I still do a few 3Delight renders.

Some of the RDNA products like a number of Star poses are labeled as Poser compatible only, on the product page, but they actually seem to do work fine in DS.

  • TorquinoxTorquinox Posts: 3,647

A lot of older Poser content does run fine in DS. That has been my experience, anyway.

Mine too, but my point is that if the product page says Poser compatible only many people may skip these items because they think they only work in Poser.

I could be wrong, but it's probably easier for the company to say Poser stuff is intended for Poser and decline responsibility for some of that cross-compatibility.

    not all work

    Gumdrops Dark library for example

but it works in Carrara heartheart

You CAN get it to work in Daz Studio - but yeah, it's definitely more work to get it to useable in DS. If you import the OBJ file that comes with Dark Library and scale it up. Then load the regular version (that shows up super weird in Daz Studio), you can then copy and paste the textures from that to the OBJ. Then manually add the Chair Texture. I set up the following scene that way. To save others that work, I've attached a Scene Subset with the Dark Library set up that way for Daz Studio. :)

Here's a Daz Studio render with it:

Attached is a zip with the Scene Subset. Just unzip, open the file, and drop the "Scene Subsets" folder into your Daz Library. You should then be able to find the Dark Library under Scene Subsets >> Dark Library Daz Studio Setup.

I actually thought of an obj export from Carrara or Poser but of course legacy content does have userfacing obj files!

I imagine the rigging causes the issues (you can move the furniture) but that's no big deal as not many places to move it.

You're welcome. :) Hopefully some will enjoy using the scene subset. I figured since I went through the trouble of setting it up, I may as well save some others the work of converting it too. :)

If anyone downloads it, please let me know if it throws up any errors or if I set it up wrong. I didn't do any surface conversions to Iray or anything (except the flames) - but since it's a "toon" environment I think it looks fine without it, imo.

  • will try when I finish copying my drives

at the moment half my DAZ library is plugged into the other computer copying files to the disc because one of my externals was being very flakey cheeky it wouldn't even copy on my Win10 just dropped out of devices, my Win7 seems more tolerant of it,
