will try when I finish copying my drives

at the moment half my DAZ library is plugged into the other computer copying files to the disc because one of my externals was being very flakey cheeky it wouldn't even copy on my Win10 just dropped out of devices, my Win7 seems more tolerant of it,

"flakey" lol I've never heard an external drive described like that! That's kind of a perfect description for how my computer has been acting lately as well. Too funny!

Good idea to back it up if it's acting up. :)

  • Aussie Slang I guess

it's a bit dodgy and quite old, I had all my Renderosity and Poser content on it as well as all my iClone content

kept not accepting files and dropping out, seems to be read only not write on the Windows 10 machine

I have now copied it all over to one of the powered drives with my DAZ3D library in it

I have a second copy of both on this Win7 computer anyway, these are my Win10 externals

just backing up my download zips from Rendo now and it will be done and I can stick them back on my Win10

    they are each other's backups!

That's smart. I really need to do backups too, I just don't have the space right now. I need to get like a 10 TB drive to get all my content backed up. lol

Back on topic though: I bought a TON of Cookie stuff. Also some stuff for Chip, Star, and a few Gumdrop stuff. This was an AWESOME sale and I'm really looking forward to rendering more of these adorable toon characters! :D

Good choice, they're great products :)

I bought, Chip, Star!, the Toon Egypt sets, the Steampunk Bundle, and those LadyLittleFox tutorials. Now I've got some reading to do. I hope my laptop cooperates.
  • If I'd had the disposable income, I would have bought all the Cookie & Chip items... but I restrained myself and picked up mostly kit-bashable clothes and expansions & textures for sets I already owned.  I think that is likely to be the most fun I can afford to have, so if the next sale is lacklustre in the end, I won't be grieved :-)

I got me two space suits that really look like space suits and the two bandages sets and used the figure laddering (M4/V4 -> Genesis -> G2M/F -> G3M/F -> G8M/F; saving inbetween as wearable presets) to fit it to more current figures and it worked nicely.

I just did a render with the underwear that worked fine on G8 with just autofit! I love that bundle!

    not all work

    Gumdrops Dark library for example

but it works in Carrara heartheart

You CAN get it to work in Daz Studio - but yeah, it's definitely more work to get it to useable in DS. If you import the OBJ file that comes with Dark Library and scale it up. Then load the regular version (that shows up super weird in Daz Studio), you can then copy and paste the textures from that to the OBJ. Then manually add the Chair Texture. I set up the following scene that way. To save others that work, I've attached a Scene Subset with the Dark Library set up that way for Daz Studio. :)

Here's a Daz Studio render with it:

Attached is a zip with the Scene Subset. Just unzip, open the file, and drop the "Scene Subsets" folder into your Daz Library. You should then be able to find the Dark Library under Scene Subsets >> Dark Library Daz Studio Setup.

Thanks @3Diva! I bought that not realizing it doesn’t work in DS. I do have Poser but haven’t used it for such a long time, I hope I even remember how to use it lol! And great choice of a name change!

Genesis 8 comes with all previous Genesis figure clones, so you only need to get the M4/V4 items onto Genesis then save it as a Wearable Preset. You can then apply the G1 Wearable Preset to Genesis 8.

hahah You're welcome! :) And yeah, I figured that adding the full name "Gumdrops: Mille Delices Dark Library Daz Studio Setup" as the Scene Subset name might be a bit too long. lol But, of course, one can always rename the Scene Subset if they prefer. :)

That bundle really is lovely, I've had it for quite some time now. Almost everything will work fine just with autofit on G8F and G3F, only the long skirts need more work if you want to use them (a V4 clone and one of SY's ultra dress templates will do the trick). Have lots of fun with it!

It took only a couple minutes and I think I encountered problems when only using Genesis -> G8M/F before... and I also wanted the clothes for G3M/F, too, anyway...  wink

  • 3Diva, thanks for the Dark Library scene subset! Saves me some time -- time I can spend converting all those old Poser materials to iray and 3DL. :)

BTW, has anyone ever figured out how to get Cookie's teeth to work in DS? I see promos of her with teeth, but she's always been toothless for me. I can manually add old Generation 4 toon teeth props to her, but if it's possible to get her real ones to work that would be great.

Played with Star for the first time in a while:

She's wearing Aero Doll, and old outfit for Aiko 3 by Mada, with lotsa glitter added (Fabiana's Glitter Plan for Iray at the other store.)

    thankyou Diva heart

I actually thought of an obj export from Carrara or Poser but of course legacy content does have userfacing obj files!

I imagine the rigging causes the issues (you can move the furniture) but that's no big deal as not many places to move it.

You're welcome. :) Hopefully some will enjoy using the scene subset. I figured since I went through the trouble of setting it up, I may as well save some others the work of converting it too. :)

If anyone downloads it, please let me know if it throws up any errors or if I set it up wrong. I didn't do any surface conversions to Iray or anything (except the flames) - but since it's a "toon" environment I think it looks fine without it, imo.

    Thanks, works fine!

DS will usually (always?) automatically use the Iray Uber shader when you render in Iray, if you haven't done so yourself, but you can't adjust it as it doesn't overwrite the existing shader and its settings on the Surfaces tab, you have to apply the Uber shader manually in order to do that.

ETA: actually it looks like you have applied the Iray Uber shader to everything, but just not adjusted it, except for the flames.

I was playing with it too a while ago, I had to mess a bit with the hat to make it fit to the hair and use Smoothing Modifier for some parts, but otherwise it worked quite well.

Oh good, I'm glad I got it set up ok and that it's working. :) I didn't remember adding the Uber Shader, but I do it so often when importing stuff from the Poser Library, so I might have done it automatically not even thinking about it. lol I convert a LOT of older stuff to Iray, so I have the Uber Shader on my toolbar for quick access. I was going to tweak the surfaces of the Dark Library but when I did a quick test render of it first I found I kind of liked the shiny surfaces the way they were. :) Anyway, I'm glad that others found the scene subset helpful.

Very cute! I'm glad I picked up the Victorian Innocence bundle too, as it looks from your renders like it fits pretty well to G8F! :)

It was a good sale. I picked up a lot of V4 stuff to help flesh out my scenes. Couldn't beat the price.

In the scene tab, select the head and expand it. There are two bone for teeth and one for tongue. Each has an on/off option set to off by default. Select all three and set that slider to on.

Thank you! All these years and I never figured that out. blush
