Those shots are targeted to a particular strain. There is no guarantee the strain it is targeted to will be a match to the one that you come in contact with. I think it's a lucky guess when it does. I never get the shots. And I haven't caught it once. Even back when the Swine Flu was a big deal and it was the one that came around. Maybe I'm more lucky than most...but that doesn't really seem to be the case, considering the way things have gone in the past eight years.

our local news is talking about the Brooklyn bridge. someones went up and swapped the American flags for white ones.

Asians use white flags (and white outfits) at funerals - white = colour of death.

Fitting, imho, considering who's left us.

    Welcome back Terre, maybe (^_^)/...

    Sephiroth pron :)

    bwaomega's description of him offended me a bit to be honest - Sephy's a long time childhood icon for me, so I've got a bit of a closer attachment to him than just "Because he looks cool" ^^;

Though to be fair, it did accurately sum his FFVII depiction up adequately for most. His character gets fleshed out plenty more in Crisis Core and you get to see more of his 'philosophical' side in Dissidia and Dissidia 012, and he rarely touches on that "insane madman" side in either of them (Only just briefly during the very very end of Dissidia, but then again the last stages of the game was filled with people spouting lines they're best known for, but the rest of it Sephy was actually the most level-headed of the bunch - heroes and villains.)

    That aside:

I love this song~ So nice and peaceful.

Fair enough. I'll accept a dissenting opinion from someone who knows about the character from other sources, though I personally would be inclined to disregard Dissidia as non-canonical, and say that Crisis Core represents him before he went nuts, if I remember the chronology correctly (never did get a chance to play Crisis Core, so I'm lacking in a lot of data). And, fair disclosure, I was a serious Aeris fan, so I have a grudge against him, and was largely responding to Misty's uninformed statements, and that women are frequently accusing men of being shallow for judging based on looks. Your summary of the canonical Sephiroth would make him a subject of pity, perhaps, but certainly not admiration.

And before people assume things about me from saying I was a Aeris fan, there were two reasons, one for powergaming (she is, quite frankly, game-breaking in powers at her highest possible level), and the other for the general nature and role of her character. She is pretty much the antithesis of my description of Sephiroth, willing to sacrifice herself for the good of others, or to save the world.

Strange dreams last night meant I Charlie horsed my leg again. I know the underlying cause is that it's been a couple weeks since we made it to the gym but why do I need creepy dreams of running from evil aliens to get that message, I don't know. Should be getting back on schedule for the gym now that Dad is home and my sinuses are mostly under control.

Also, lately my cell phone keeps losing the forums. I get some message about a bad gateway. No idea what is the cause or how to fix

Crisis Core delves into why he went off the deep end more so than FFVII did, where IIRC it only made a few passing remarks about it. Dissidia's canonity is debatable yes, especially when you consider it's actually the "Warrior of Light's" origin (The hero of Final Fantasy I). That's not even factoring in the fact that Lightning, Yuna, Vaan, and several others 'die' outside the bounds of Shinryuu's agreement in 012 which is apparently the in-universe explanation for why they're not present in Dissidia. Whether this means they simply poofed back into their respective worlds without memory of what happened (It's hinted that in Dissidia their memories of what happened just faded like a dream when they went back) or if they truly died for real I don't know. It never did make that clear.

I admit when I first came across Sephiroth, I liked him just because he was cool looking and had an awesome themesong. At the time, I hadn't come across many villains that appealed to me for one reason or another, and I was still fairly 'new' to Final Fantasy as a whole. I was more of a Daggerfall and Age of Empires kind of person then, so the One-Winged Angel theme just blew me away. As time went on I came to like his backstory, and Crisis Core and the animated special (Can't remember the name though...) helped that along. Really does seem though that most people who do like him indeed do so just for his appearance, as opposed to his behavior and personality (At least post-CC, which is where most people know him from)

....Though I am seeing some people actually liking him for that evil/attitude. To each their own I guess *shrugs*

Crisis Core shows him as a calculating, cunning, and noble individual and with a sense of humor that he only really shows when around his friends. A near complete polar opposite of how he's depicted in FFVII, almost to the point where it's difficult to believe. It's not until later in the game that things like the experiments performed on him and Cloud 'because reasons' started to cloud (*edit* No pun intended hah!) his judgement, and things just went downhill from there. After he went past the breaking point, he just snapped and was corrupted by it - and the scientist guy whose name escapes me? Yeah, he just encouraged that behavior. Doesn't help that he lost one of his friends to these experiments either.

Ultimately though, he's got too many negative points stacked up on him to be liked for his overall character (Unless one is a fan of characters like that), even I can admit that heh. I've seen some fanfics depicting how things may have turned out differently if he hadn't gone insane, most of them clearly written in favor of simply avoiding the hell that he caused, but a few of them were fairly well written.

I know a lot of people don't like Sephiroth for his (FFVII) attitude, but a lot of people don't seem to like Cloud for his either. I don't really get personally, it's hard for me to dislike the FF characters - good or evil. I'm probably one of the few that doesn't have any problem with Tidus or Lightning ^_^ (Okay, I admit I don't like Vaan much at all, but outside of storyline reasons, he's actually a nice kid. Far as plot progresson goes though, he's useless)

Kefka is another "Loved but Hated" character. He's got a kill count similar to Sephiroths, is about as remorseless, has another well-known and often remixed theme ('Dancing Mad'), and is either hated or loved for what he's like. He's got a lot of amusing dialogue lines though, I'll give him that much. I guess one reason people liked him was that - love him or hate him - he did manage to be more successful than any other FF villain, even if he was absolutely off the wall insane.

Evil scientist is Hojo and the animated movie is Advents Children.
Like Rez, I liked pre-insane Sephy and see a lot of things should be laid at Hojo's feet, like what he did to Vincent and Cloud.

Oh ouch, bad gateways aren't much fun either hope you found a good gateway or two by now. My leg went to sleep while I was texturing this, took about 14 minutes to render @2K and around the same for the hop along leg feeling to go away  Only two lights argh will need more patience or beer or something

Hojo, right... Just came across the name again while I was trying to dig up that image of Sephiroth and Aerith playing chess ^^
Reminded me of just how much I hated the guy D:<
In hindsight, he really was the catalyst for a lot of stuff that went wrong in VII. If memory serves, he was indirectly responsible for the characters in CC getting screwed too (Zack, Genesis, etc). He created the Sephiroth we know in VII, and had no remorse about it either. Seemed like he was disgusted with the 'good' Sephy even...

Advent Children's not the one I was thinking of. Advent Children is in full CGI, whereas the animation I was thinking of was cel-shade like traditional anime's, and AV takes place post-VII where this one took place during or before it. I don't think it was ever translated into English either, but I can't really remember.

Yes, Cherokee, and very proud of it. He would be tickled at the thought of white flags flying on the Brooklyn Bridge for his passing.
