The new beta version of Daz Studio & the latest version of DIM are Big Sur compatible
I have tried repeatedly to install the beta version without success. I've gotten "Install Failed!" messages every time, despite following (some very confusing and vague) instructions. I've asked for help in forum, and gotten either the same information that didn't previously work or been ignored. If you have any suggestions about how to proceed, I'd be thrilled. I'm in the middle of a big project and having to use a somewhat unwieldy workaround even to continue, so if I were able to get the beta on my M1 Mac, it might really help.
As there has been lot of similar messages from people that have tried to get DS installed and reason for failing being that they have tried installing the non-Beta version,
Have you 'bought' the Beta Version? https://www.daz3d.com/daz-studio-beta and followed the instructions that are given on that page?
First rule of development is to never update or change software in the middle of a project. You can run into so many problems that you can have to completely have to start over from square one. I know, it's happened on many occasion to us on numerous platform versions and software. Save yourself the hassle atm and continue your project the way you were and worry about this update afterwards.
Thanks for responding. I appreciate the suggestion.
If it helps, you can skip the beta and install the latest release version if you want to run it on your m1 Mac. Since you're trying to get it to run on an m1, I assume your project is either already running elsewhere or not at all, so you shouldn't be risking anything. As Frank noted, if it *is* running under Intel and you want to *test* it on m1, be prepared to jump back should things go south. I can only say that so far I haven't had any issues, but we're probalby doing different things.
NOTE: Just re-reading this (I shouldn't try "helping" while also working) and wanted to mention that if you upgrade to the latest public release, you probably won't be able to easily go back (you probably already know that) so for your project's sake you'll probalby only want to test the latest release if you have your "safe" version of D|S still useable.
I'll back away now rather than make myself look even worse...

I had the "Install failed" error too, and I went brutal: go to the folder where DIM keeps the downloaded packages. Locate the DAZ 4.15 one and unzip it. Copy that folder in your Applications one and try to run the Daz app that's inside from there. The SQL CMS did install?
You should win a medal, because that solution is quite literally the only way I've been able to get 4.15 to install and run.
This is an unfogivably bad release, and it should not have taken a year to get here only to be so infuriatingly poor.
I intend to convert as much of the highly expensive content I paid for over to Blender or something else, and leave Daz behind forever.
