Here's Topsy 8 out of the box:

    Topsy 8 at 70%:

    I think she's quite cute! :D

Is that the default stocking settings?

No, the stockings and the rest of the outfit is kit-bashed from a couple of different outfits. The shorts and stockings are from the Miss Mecha Outfit and I retextured them. The top, gloves, and boots are from the Buccaneeress Pirate Outfit.

It appears that hella texture files are missing. I'd just like to know someone else experienced that same thing and that I'm not in error myself.

Yeah, same here. Missing the same batch of textures as well on the Tinkerer's Workshop.

They did it again crying. It would be really nice if DAZ would have a day of new releases without a single issue. Either quality control is completely understaffed, or not existant at all.

I really like the character and everything in the bundle. I'm a little miffed that Daz keeps adding older products that people might already have purchased to bundles with all new products. I don't think giving a small percentage off is a very attractive deal since I already own the Miranda Hair. It would have made whole lot more sense to not add the hair just lower the price of the bundle slightly. As much as I love the character, I'll probably give it a pass until I can get it cheaper at a later sale when it isn't new and can use a coupon. Apparently even with the store upgrade, Daz still hasn't managed to fix the issue of coupons not applying correctly when there's a freebie in the cart!

I tried the plat coupon with just Topsy and the HD in the cart, and the price is too high even without a freebie in the cart

I figure at some point when she's no longer new, she'll probably get a decent discount in some future sale where I can also apply a coupon if needed. I can wait. As much as I like her, I don't desperately need her just because she's new. I've found if one has enough patience, you can either pick up the bundle really cheap at a future sale or you can get the individual pieces cheaper than what they are when they're new. I'm okay with waiting.

But yeah, I think even without the freebie in the cart, this bundle is too expensive. Add in the older hair, even with the discount, and I'm keeping my money on this one which is a shame because it's the first bundle I've like everything in it in a while.

In a few months she'll be free as part of a future character's promotion, I'm sure.  DAZ's marketing people are ridiculously predicatable.

Anyone know the resolution of the Tinkerers Workshop or what maps are included?

You could get Topsy standalone for $15.42 or together with the HD morphs for $29.13 - also not that nice as $10 more would buy you the outfits (if you have the hair). But as I am not willing to pay $40 for that 7-item-bundle as I cannot make much use of the associated offers for other bundles I am leaning towards really buying only the main character this time.

I love this character, so I'm okay with the bundle as well.  Plus you get the HD for free.  That being said, while I understand why we are upset and put off that for some reason, Daz is charging the same price for bundles that offer less than what previous bundles have in the past, I'm still willing to overlook it because of the work that is being put in to make these characters mean something.  I remember the days when we didn't have this level of quality (either because of technology, demand, or both) so considering that I'm going all in on G8 and nothing else after, I'm cool with it.  Genesis 9 is going to practically have to step off the screen and have coffee with me before I invest in it like this...lol.

Hmmm, maybe, just maybe, a second bundle could be coming tomorrow to match the two bundles of Drutherson, and bring with it a better price, at the cost of buying two bundles?

No maybe about it. We already know that Arki's Evergreens outfit for Drutherson also has a female counterpart. That one isn't in today's bundle, so...

I love Topsy 8  but I am quite miffed that we get Miranda hair, which we already had with the Monique 8 Pro Bundle!

I filed a ticket and, if they do not replace that hair I will ask for a refund for the hair as I already own it.

    Topsy 8 is adorable.

Well you should have had a banner telling you that you get 15% off the bundle for already owning that hair.

wow, I never got that banner.

I think it is bad that they put older products in new bundles.

I like the character morph very much.  The head shape could be perfect to mix in for character actresses.  Maybe help toward a female sidekick type similar to the great 1930s wisecracking comedy staple, Patsy Kelly.

    Some Patsy Kelly pics

I should have found a short hair that shows the forehead, but here is Topsy 8 at 0.4 mixed with Aubrey at 0.4 and Slexandra at 0.25.  Default lighting and straight render.

Darn you.  You're right about the look and now I had to go order the Thelma Todd/Patsy Kelly collection from Amazon.

Hmmm I am puzzled about why the Topsy Bundle comes with the Genesis 8 Female Anatomical Elements ,but Drutherson didn't come with the Genesis 8 Male  Elements ......

Huh.  I could have sworn that they were included when the bundle was first announced, and it's really strange since Drutherson DOES comes with the anatomical mats.

@Cybersox, you are obviously a person of refined tastes.

Question - could those old Hal Roach shorts be in the public domain now?  Lots of clips on youtube.

sounds like a recurring theme of late with new releases

well, after a lot of deep deliberation, I've decided to pass. Yeah, Thirstyson needs a girlfriend, but he will just have to wait until the pricing is affordable.
meanwhile, picked up Ultrascenery Accelerator and that baby flies in generating the scene. It is so fast it screams. Happy camper

That's the first time I'd heard of Patsy Kelly or Thelma Todd. Very interesting pair. Thelma Todd's death sounds pretty mysterious and Patsy Kelly must have been incredibly brave to have come out as gay in the 1930s! It's awful that she was shunned by Hollywood for decades for doing so. She was obviously a very talented actress and entertainer. It looks like they both where.

As to your question about Public Domain, according to Wikipedia:

"In the United States, motion pictures are copyrighted for 95 years. All motion pictures made and exhibited before 1925 are indisputably in the public domain in the United States. This date will move forward one year, every year, meaning that films released in 1925 will enter the public domain in 2021, films from 1926 in 2022, and so on."

The male elements are the same for all male G8M characters. I'm confused. LOL. Do you not have another male character with which they were included?

Shouldn't that be 33.06 rather than 34.86? Looks like you have what happens to me too, with the platinum coupon only discounting 4.80 (and it happens even without free items in my cart)

Some are, some aren't.  A lot of Hal Roach films are mistakenly identified as public domain as Roach himself operated a company in the eighties that sold copies of his old film made from his personal prints along with copies of other films that were definitely in the PD to bulk out the catalog, so many people assumed that they all were.  For films from that period, it really comes down to whether the copyright was renewed and lately there have been a lot of reversals on the status of films that WERE considered to be PD like Nosferatu and a number of the old Republic serials due to retroactive revisions in the way the codes are being rewritten thanks to lots of lobbying by the likes of Disney.

Second Topsy 8 bundle is up in today's offer, together with a nice free bundle if you buy both Topsy 8 bundles.

    https://www.daz3d.com/topsy-8-merry-and-bright-bundle

    https://www.daz3d.com/steampunk-ostrich-and-cart-bundle

I am glad I didn't pull the trigger yesterday. Is Daz trying to teach us not to buy any of their character bundles when they are first offered and simply wait? That is a very interesting marketing strategy.

  • From what I see there should be no difference whether one has bought yesterday or might buy today.

From what I see there should be no difference whether one has bought yesterday or might buy today.

As far as I understand it, those who bought  the yesterday's Topsy 8 bundle won't get the 30% off today's bundle.

I am not sure about the Ostrich bundle, because there is no note on the items having to be in one's cart simultaneously.

Buy the Topsy 8 The Tinkerer Bundle to get the Topsy 8 HD Add-On FREE*
and get an EXTRA 30% OFF* the Topsy 8 Merry and Bright Bundle

Buy the Topsy 8 The Tinkerer AND Topsy 8 Merry and Bright Bundles
to get the Steampunk Ostrich and Cart Bundle for FREE

    Notes:

    * Items must be in cart simultaneously for discount to apply.
Cannot be used to purchase Items already owned at a lower price.

I would get the Topsy 8 Merry and Bright Bundle for $35 and I didn't bought the Tinkerer Bundle.
But I'm not really interested in Merry and Bright bundle. This bundle is even more worse than the yesterday, which is a real shame, because Topsy for herself is interesting.

Actually I appear to have got a larger discount for having accepted yesterday's offer. Bundle 2 came in at $34.57, with the Evergreens texture, *and* the free ostrich and cart bundle.

Admittedly, I have one of the larger loyalty discounts, and am also a PC+ member.
