Hi,
I just installed 4.15 and rendering time has slowed to a crawl! A render that used to take about 6 minutes, takes more than 45, sometimes an hour.
Is there a setting I can check? And if this is an update with no fix, How do I get my 4.12 back?
Thank you.
Is it dropping to CPU? If you save the contents of your dim downloads 4.12 should be there if you didn't delete it.
It doesn't tell me it's dropping to CPU.
If you have a capable GPU, on the Render Settings pane, select the Advanced tab and deselect CPU under Devices and Interactive Mode..
Until I upgraded my GPU I could not use 4.15 at all. What type of card do you have?
NVidia Quadro P4000 Also, I had to delete the DIM zips as I was running out of HDD space.
Thanks, but then it won't render at all.
DS doesn't show you any warning messages if it drops to CPU, you have to look for it in the log (Help->Troubleshooting->View Log File)
One of the common causes for slow rendering on DS 4.15 has been an older Nvidia GPU that's no longer supported for IRAY rendering.
OMG, Thank you !!!
I just got a new pc this morning with RTX 3090 and Intel i5-11600K and it just crashed every time I wanted to open a file.
And yet, next to it, I have another PC with RTX 3060 and AMD Ryzen 9 3900x that can open all files normally.
It was incomprehensible and I was close to reinstalling Windows 10 completely.
Now I'm ready to make good use of those 24 GB of VRAM and 10496 CUDA cores
Glad it worked! yes, I was in the same boat as you, so I understand the pain entirely!
Yep, that's why I have to get rid of 4.15 and revert back to 4.12. I don't have the DIM zip for 4.12 so am trying to find out where to get it. All the DAZ studio down load files all say 4.15. Where can I find 4.12? Thanks.
You are going to have to find an old version of Studio to use if you want to use studio's GPU without dropping. A number of factors were changed including the increased heaviness of Iray, and the need for a more robust GPU. I lived on 4.11 and 4.12 for some time, since the hardware requirements were less.
Obviously, you can still use the CPU to render, but you aren't going to be able to render on GPU without a more robust GPU.
Quadro P4000 is still supported, if you are using new enough driver (451.48 or newer)
What does your log say?
What is the installed driver version?
Thanks. Question is: where can I get 4.12?
I don't know of any legit way to get older versions of studio. I tried to request it from support months ago, and the request was denied.
441.66 But I now have the realization that it probably has everything to with the fact that I am still running windows 7. There probably isn't 451.48 available for W7...
Upgrade to W10
I'm running the Windows 7 Ultimate and my RTX 2070 Super (8GB) is working fine with 456.38 drivers, with the newest W7 drivers being 471.41
Nvidia driver download; https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx
Looks like Nvidia has ended W7 driver support for your card in 2019
Yep, Nv has.
Microsoft is now sending us reminders to check out all the wonders coming with W11.
Can anyone tell me if DAZStudio 4.12.0.86 Pro will run on a MAC under the Big Sur OS 11.5? I've been locked out since last November.
Not quite yet, but see https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/506346/daz-studio-5-development-update#latest
I'm having a very strange issue with Studio 4.15 and, at the moment, I have no idea what to do.
I've been using 4.15 for a while with no problems on my Win 10 Home PC (i4790K, Gigabyte motherboard, GFX 1080, 32GB RAM).
I'm now configuring a new PC with increased power (i11700K, 64GB RAM, Gigabyte Z590, GPU still in the old pc, so I'm temporarily working with MB-integrated).
Windows version is the same. I freshly installed the very same Studio version on the new pc, migrating entirely My Library.
Studio starts normally and I can see the whole library available. Fine, but...
...when I load either G2F or G8F, after a few seconds Studio shuts down with no error messages or the like.
Even stranger, if I load G1 or G2M it works.
I didn't try with every content in my library, but in any case G2F and G8F are important enough to completely halt my work.
Of course, in the old PC they continue to load and work normally.
Log is of no help. If I erase it just before loading G2F, then load it, Studiio crashes and there's no new log.txt, hence it crashes before writing it.
I'm aware that there could be a number of causes linked to the new hardware, but did someone suffer something like that in the past and can possibly help me?
BTW: I work offline in both cases.
Reading up in the topic, it seems that there are issues between Studio and Intel 11x CPUs.
I don't know if it applies to my case, because in my opinion it would affect every kind of models, not just G2F and G8F.
Anyway, it's at least something that can be tried, even if with very small hope.
There is an issue with Intel 10, and perhaps 11, CPUs when connecting (which some users have fixed by changing the .dll files) but that would have an effect when DS or one of the installers tried to log in to Daz. Unless the females are not isntalled, so double-clicking one tries to connect and download, I don't think that can be your issue.
My same idea. In fact I work offline and the whole My Library has been duplicated in the new PC. It's really strange. I am clueless. The lack of log/error messages doesn't help at all.
Richard, it worked! I noticed that every 'heavy' scene led to a system crash, so the issue was not necessarily linked to human figures - they were heavy because of the high numbers of morphs, compared with the male one.
So I tried the workaround suggested higher in the page and it worked. Now I can load complex scenes as before.
Once again, thanks to this unvaluable forum. I hope that this instability will be addressed without workarounds in the next future.
Glad you have it fixed.
OM-G, you're a life saver.
I just upgraded my motherboard/cpu to 11900K, and was about to pull the mobo and replace it because of this OpenSSL issue. Can confirm that this fix works. I've been trying to fix this for five days, now; and your fix did it in about two minutes.
I had even installed a fresh copy of Windows, the bare essentials for LAN and chipset function, and only DIM; which promptly failed. Was convinced that it had something to do with TPM and stored keys, somehow.
Now I get to see what a 6700K-to-11900K upgrade gets me, tee-hee.
Ever in your debt,
Erik
