...terrible Tuesday was an understatement for me today.

Because of the poor schedule performance on the bus route I usually take, I have been leaving earlier to catch the bus before that one, taking about another 20 - 25 minutes out of my morning. Well this other bus is usually late, buy beteen 4 - 7 minutes but it still gets me to the transit station in well enough time to make my connection...

...until today. Before I left the house I dialed up the system's tracker line for the route and top I board at and everything looked to be on time. So I make it to the stop with more than enough time to spare and end up waiting, and waiting and waiting, past the time the bus was due. I called the tracker line again only to find out that in the short time since I left the house the bus now was going arrive thirteen minutes late. Well, fifteen minutes late, it finally shows up and things only became worse from there as now we are pulling into just about every stop picking up riders who are waiting for the next bus behind us (the one that I already wrote up last week for always being late). Soon we're eighteen minutes behind schedule and at one point we are passed up by the later bus which is, not surprisingly, empty. So we pull up behind that bus while it's at a red light and the driver tells us to get off a(nd get on it, she is going to turn around to try and get back on schedule. As we exit, the bus in front of us pulls away and heads off down the road, leaving several people who needed to go to the transit station stranded (and this Bushido CG really fuming, as I only had about nine minutes to make my connection with a bus that runs an hour and fifteen minutes apart).

Well seeing our frustration the drive of the bus we were originally on got on her radio phone again, then let us get back after having dispatch tell the other bus to pull over and wait for her to catch up. In the end I barely made my connection in time. Not a very good start to the day especially since for the type of work I do, one needs to have a calm, collected approach when dealing with customers irate that their phone isn't working right or their bill seems to high.

Going to write this incident and situation up tomorrow. As this appears to be a chronic case, the transit system's management needs to make the adjustment and get these buses running on time. Makes no sense as it is the middle of the day when there is little traffic and low passenger loads.

I've been a huge backer of transit over the years, but after seeing how service has deteriorated since I first moved here 25 years ago, I feel I need to find some way to afford a car and insurance. It should not take nearly to hours to travel the same distance that by car takes under 20 minutes, especially considering how high the fares have become. if anything, they should pay us the riders for all the inconvenience they put us through. >:(

Mass transit here in Tulsa sounds better than yours, and we're waayyy behind the times. Even though there's no Sunday service (middle of the Bible Belt) the bus is typically no more than 5 minutes late, the stops are clean, and the major bus centers are all close to brand new (and have vending machines and 24/7 security). :blank:

Maybe it's time for a commuters revolution up there...

Lotsa grumbling about mass transit here as well, the roads are clogged and the trains are packed full twelve hours a day. Not so bad for me living central but crossing town is sloooow, needz more bridges or tunnels or something :)

The most terrifying tunnel experience I've had was going under San Francisco Bay on the BART train to Oakland.. done it many times, still scary to know that if a quake hit while we were under there we'd get a choice of drowning or bring crushed to death, or both! :ahhh: :ahhh:

They should have people who actually ride the system work in their planning and scheduling departments instead of college graduates with their "transit management" degrees who drive to work everyday and don't know what it is like to be stranded or late for work because a bus you depend on doesn't show or is woefully behind schedule. If I were head of our system I would require all upper level personnel/executives use the system to commute to work for one year and write them up them for every time they drove in (most if not all work the regular 9 - 5 slot when buses and trains are running) so they see first hand what the people they are supposed to serve have to go through each day. I'd even give them a free annual 12 month pass.

    ...humongous Wotans Day complaint.

Woke up and checked my emails this morning to find an overdraft notice from my bank

like "Huh?". I just deposited my paycheque for over 600$ on Saturday and still had a fairly healthy balance before these charges were assessed.

Well went to my account online and saw that I as hit with not just one but five individual overdraft charges on Sunday for 37$ each totalling 185$! So I callth bank and they say it was because I only has 100$ hile the check was "on deposit". On Deposit? Excuse Me? it as a bloody paycheque (not a personal cheque from a friend) that was issued by a multi-billion dollar multinational corporation that I could have cashed for the full amount at the supermart down the street for only a 1$ processing fee or one of those cheque cashing places. Yet my bank, which I have done business with for years, has some 100$ access restriction, that I was never informed of by the teller when I deposited the cheque, which supposedly triggered the overdrafts as the first thing I did that same day was reinstate my net service (100$ for the two past due bills + 50$ deposit).

This is absolute thievery. I got them to drop two of the charges and they are calling my branch to get the last three removed as I am not going to pay out of my meager earnings to line the pockets of overpaid bank executives.

After this gets sorted out (whichever way it happens), this Saturday I'm going to close my account and go to a credit union for it seems these days it's the customer who serves the bank rather than the other way around.

This totally did not make my day if not rest of the week.

That would work! The VTA in Silicon Valley would regularly have mid-level management take the bus around town, it made for some surprisingly intelligent schedule changes over the years I was there.

Wow, that sucks! :ahhh: :ahhh: Yeah.. that seems to be modern banking, fee up up until you bail out. A credit union is a good idea.
