Reading between the lines of the message I got from CS, yes. It will be a cold day in hell when metadata issues are fixed. I can live with things showing up in lost and found, provided they have a tagged thumbnail. And are correctly categorized. E.g. all the soda materials are tagged as "Prop" on the thumbnails. I have run the product through Content Wizard, and it does a very nice and correct update with zero extra work
. Now it is even more fun to get some dishes dirty. I hope my rendered actors do not gain too much weight
. Looking forward to "Dirty Dishes 2, 3 and 4"
Brilliant product! Dirt and scratch shaders (there's a couple such products around) only get us so far towards creating props which look actually used. And with that line of thought, I'm sure you can figure out a lot more products for the future. Just some random ideas:
-Paper which can be morphed into a crumpled ball or folded, or just show where folds have been (so it wouldn't be just a flat plane, and it using morphs would mean people could apply some morph only partially).
-Also envelopes (knicks in the paper, different methods of opening them (cutting, tearing, etc), I actually can't remember seeing a believable opened-envelope product),
-Books and magazines with knicked corners, folds in the pages (some people sadly do that instead of using a bookmark)
-Dirty dish- and bathingwater
-Pencils of variable length (I've had them sharpened as short as 4 centimeters at times), with and without broken tips, with and without erasergum. Cheap throwaway pens (like BIC pens and promo pens) with (optional) broken clips or chewed buttons.
Holy crap, I thought that was a photograph at first!

And maybe a full english breakfast, bowl of cereal, croissant, breakfast pastries, a french press and a pourover brewer (like a Chemex) please!
Ditto! Awesome render with an awesome product. Does the magic never end?
This really is a great looking and yseful product. Well done!
Yes, the product is that good!
Thanks for the suggestions and feedback, and for the awesome pic of your pizza dinner! I love what you did with the prop components to make it your own :)
I really appreciate all the nice words and I'm happy to hear that there's still an 'appetite' for more dirty dishes. I had always planned to make a followup product and have several ideas of my own. Many of which run in parallel with some of the suggestions I see here. So I hope that when the next pack is ready, I will be able to satisfy at least some of these requests.
Fantastic asset! I love how the pizza morphs to droop or fold. Though I must say I'm confused. Here we have a PA making an awesome food asset and for a second asset people are requesting... English food? ;)
Instant purchase for me, something I've been pining for since I started doing everyday scenes. I've already made a texture so the garlic bread remnant can have a french bread mat, I just cannot leave things alone
. A second volume will be another instabuy for me!
Misery loves company?
Really? You should have said something. My sink is almost always full, help yourself. BTW. shouldn't this inclode a sink full of dishes?
I have one suggestion to add, measuring cups and spoons or balance scales with food on them. As I looked at the butter, I remembered the other day, melting butter for popcorn in the microwave in my glass measuring 1 cup, in 30 second intervals to ensure it didn't boil over the rim. So I had to check the it, then set the timer for another 30 seconds. So there was a semi-melted blob of butter in the cup.
While many people think of enchilades as rolled up, my mother was taught in southern New Mexico to layer tortillas with sauce, (other fillers), and cheese, topping with an egg, sour cream and more cheese and slipped under a broiler. She also did refried beans from scratch and chili.
My father brought into out home food he learned to love during WWII in the Pacific theater and in Europe, so, anything in those areas would be great. From my own career, votes from me for German, Austrian, English, Greek, Korean, Chinese, French, Dutch. Food is a great way to learn about a country and the people.
There is an update in DIM. Does anyone know what was changed? I spent a lot of time fixing the metadata and I don't want it overwritten by another messed up Daz attempt, so I am afraid to downlod it..
I have dared to try.
Although not perfect, it is definetly an improvement.
If you need further details, I am happy to help with sreenshots and such.
According to BeyondCompare, the ZIP files only differ in metadata
Hi,
Does anybody knows, what the included Dirty Dishes script do?
There is no mention of it on: https://www.daz3d.com/dirty-dishes
It just pops up an info box with a message from the creator, a sort of mini read me.
Ok, thanks. I have thought, that it could assemble different dishes with the assorted meals.
Thank you, that is helpful information.
I can confirm that there have been no changes from my end.And yes, the script is just a thank you, and an informational message to explain where to look for the included morphs on the relevant props.
I would prefer a regular information (read me) file, instead of the script, but that is my opinion.
A different opinion, to balance things out: I like the script files that are accessible easily from within Daz Studio. I don't like to have to go off and hunt down a readme file.
I pulled up an old scene I did years ago and made some modifications to use Dirty Dishes. For some reason the orange juice, which normally looks great, looked like a solid hunk of plastic in this light, so I made a couple changes to the surface settings. It is almost invisible, but I added the puddle of butter on the plate under the cereal bowl and applied ThoseThings food shader for cereal. I guess he was a sloppy cereal eater. I added a banana end and a bacon scrap to the dirty plate. We are missing coffee cups and saucers, unless I overlooked them. I used some from another set. Maybe they will come in Dirty Dishes 2.
Nice! Thanks for posting that. :) I love how you're taking the components and using them in creative ways. The pack was never intended to be a complete replacement for other food and crockery products, so I'm glad to see you bringing props from other products where it makes sense. Do whatever you have to do to make your scenes work :)
I hear you about the coffee mug. I think it's safe to say that the next pack might have something of interest to you in that way. The main reason I didn't do it for the first pack is that the visual difference between the outside of a clean mug (already available) and a lightly used one is relatively minor compared to a glass drinking vessel where you can see through the glass walls.
Unless it's really filthy of course! ***Hides my real life coffee mug surreptitiously***
That said, a sparkling clean coffee mug or tea cup can look badly out of place in some settings. Like a mechanics workshop (or my home office) for example. So, I think it's a reasonable addition to the lineup.
That is already provided for the drinking glasses.
