Is your mouse floating above the plate? His shadow is disconnected from him..
I see the same.
Yes, I took care of that in postwork :)
It is a cute mouse. I don't know what I would do with him, but he's in my wishlist anyway.
Heads up 75% off flash sale. Here's what I am looking at, you get up to three from the selection. I like the birthday selection, without using any of the quarantine theme parts of it. (Lol comes with a bathroom with a toilet with a LID. HeHeHe)

I realized that I hadn't purchased either ROG Fantasy Home or Materia, so I rectified that mistake.
I was pleasantly surprised to find dforce prison inmate clothing for genesis 8 female in the selection. I have been wanting that for a while for a VN I plan on doing. The prison clothes look a lot like the clothes inpatients wear in psych wards and that's where my VN will take place. I also got Render Studio 2.0 Volumetric Plus. Both of these don't go on sale often, and when they do it's not anywhere near 75% off. For my third item, I got a cute bedroom set because I can never have enough of those. I may post some renders of these later.
Does anyone know of a set which has good cotton candy in it? Cotton Candy is in the name of carnival tent materials, so I got a bunch of those popping up, but no regular cotton candy. I can't think of what else to look under, I've tried circus, carnival, cotton candy. Food gets me everything under the sun, as does candy (a lot of clothes!) So props experts, where's the cotton candy? I may just have to draw one in.
Cotton candy seems like the kind of thing I would see at Rendo, but all I could find was this: https://www.renderosity.com/rr/mod/bcs/i13-county-fair-food-stand-for-poser-and-daz-studio/108820/
Bad link. Try this one.
Hmm, think I'll have to draw it. Thanks for trying though. Good to know I am not just overlooking it. Well, now vendors know there's a need for carnival type food LOL. I can use cloud brushes and do better than that I think.
I'm going to photograph a cotton ball.
Okay, I've had some time to check out dForce Prison Inmate Clothing for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females The first thing I wanted to do was fit it to a G8M, since my psych ward story will be coed. For some reason, dforce has been completely turned off on the sleeves, so I turned that back on. The fit was also kind of feminine, so I increased the expansion ratio on the torso of the shirt to make it baggier. I reduced the expansion ratio on the sleeve cuffs, because it still wasn't draping well, and because I like the fitted look that you see in the promos (that the product does not give out of the box).
The next issue was fit. I had to turn off parameter limits on a few of the adjustment morphs to keep the waist from clipping. I increased the buckling ratio on the pants by 10% to keep them from looking quite so thin and silky. Another thing I found was that the crotch was distorted (probably just because he is a guy with different geometry), so I changed the smoothing from generic to base shape matching and increased the smoothing and collision iterations. Lastly, the pants were clipping the shoes, so I added a push modifier set to .3 and set collision to the shoes instead of the G8. It looks like I would have to fix the upper right sleeve in post if I actually wanted to use this image, but that would be easy.
So a lot of little tweaks, but the end result is something that I can work with. I do wish the PA had released a male version though. I would def get it.
Amazing job to get that look, you nailed it!
Okay, if you need cotton candy, Ron's Smoke brushes in order (laying it down first, then second, etc) are brushes 432, 275, 322, 401, 448, 322. The last one is great for putting in the dark areas.
Then, if you have Fotosketcher, add Watercolor 1 effects (one set was 16 / 128 / 13 / 122 / 66 if you are using a watercolor or oil or cartoon plug in for the rest of your scene.
The first thing I did was photograph a shredded cotton ball and erased parts of it. I just needed something for the background. Then I added the smoke brushes on top of it.
Second, I added all those Ron's Smoke effects, and filled in the right shape (by erasing all the extra fluffy floating clouds going everywhere.) I would just use this as is except the rest of my book has different effects. Keep in mind this is a closeup and it won't be this in your face in the scene :)
Last, the Fotosketcher effects using Watercolor 1. Three examples using Watercolor 1 with different settings.
@Novica Thanks!
One more thing before I go to bed: Sapphira is in fast grab right now and she is frequently in PCFAD. But Buyer Beware! I got her a month or so ago, and found that her head morph creates a black line on the sclera, all around the iris. Not her eye textures, but the actual head morph does this, making her pretty unusable unless you just want her for her texture. I have seen a render of her from 2019 (from the lovely Novica no less) and I don't see the line there, so I don't know what happened. It's weird. But CS confirmed that they could reproduce the issue and gave me a refund. If anyone has her and wants to check to see if she has been fixed, cool. But if you are thinking of getting her, just be aware that you are taking a gamble.
Edit: I found a screenshot I took. Changing eye textures didn't affect the line at all, but reducing the head morph made the line move back on the eye and become fainter.
Huh, yeah it was in this post. I'll call her up and do a quickie test render. That's interesting, but as you said, they reproduced the error so it definitely is there.
The mouse is too cute!
See my edited post above. I included a screenshot and some more detail. It's really weird as I don't see why a morph would be updated.
Something happens to the surfaces of the eye. Normally, the Eye Moisture is outermost, but with Sapphira, the Eye Moisture surface dips below the Sclera and Cornea surfaces, causing the cracks in the image. If you zoom in close, you can see the difference in reflection where the eye moisture is on the outside compared to the reflection where the sclera is on the outside. Use the Surface Selection tool to slowly move across the eye surfaces and you will see the info popup change from Eye Moisture to Sclera, and if you're lucky you'll see Cornea. I've even seen Irises and Fingernails (no joke) if you go real slow when zoomed in real close.
There must be some internal parameters that aren't following properly. Only the Cornea has an adjustment, and it isn't enough. No idea what to do about it...
I've been rendering her for an hour fifteen minutes and only 4% done. With the DA Real World Lighting, she looks good and fairly up close. @northof45 thanks for the explanation. I'll finish rendering her overnight, I'm headed off to get some sleep and still have 96% to go. But she looks okay so far.
I am looking for a VW "combi". It's a VW van but it's the old type that is stylistically similar to a VW Beetle Bug. See attached pic or similar. I'm thinking "Flower Power".
Also, I could of sworn the DAZ Store had two or three vans (not business vans/trucks).
Road Trip Hippy Van?
Thanks very much! I thought I remembered one but a search of van in the the DAZ Store did not return it! Also, it was not in the list of vehicles when I searched for car!
Not sure, but remember I started all over reinstalling things about a year ago, so if there was a product update change I would think I'd have it. Is there a way to see what the date is on the latest version of a product?
Sapphira (G8F) Messy Braided Tails Hair (G3F/ G8F) dForce Helen Cocktail Dress Outfit (G8F)
This went 9 hours and only 43% done, so my computer may have needed rebooting or something is off. I had to burn shadows and midtones into the hair as it appeared foggy. So don't judge the hair based on this render.
For a compare and contrast method: If you use DIM, put your mouse over the line with that item, and leave it there for a minute. There should be a popup that tells you the latest install date and the latest package date of the version you installed. Then uninstall that version and delete the ZIP (or, in this case, I'd advise moving it if you don't have the issue and do have the older zip file, since that will let you keep a version that may not have the issue). Redownload and reinstall. Repeat that first step, and it will tell you if the package date has changed, which it should if there's an update. (they used to update the version number of the zip file, but I'm not sure whether or not that happens now.)
Unfortunately, the only way to definitively tell what the latest version is used to be the readme, but I haven't seen an actual update notice in a readme in ages.
The package date is May 25th 2018 and installed was yesterday. I've got to get back to my book, so just going to leave everything alone since I have no issues. :)
