That's standard. Female stuff apparently sells better therefore there is more of it. C'est la vie.
There was a bonus dude and an elephant dude yesterday, and a dude for Michael 8.1 - Thomas - two days ago. There's not as much, but there's some. People have bills to pay, and dudes don't bring in the dineros like the ladies do. Add to that the fact that a good outfit for dudes takes more work than good female outfits and you have your answer. Also, they want to get paid more.
Why does a good outfit for men take more work?
They're not as flowy, so need to be conforming, which means more JCMs, which takes longer. You can't get away with dForcing your way out of trouble as easily with clothing for guys, and a lot of clothing for females is all about dForce. There are exceptions for both genders, but that's the main reason. But mostly it's because stuff for males characters doesn't sell as well as stuff for female characters.
So now we're having yet another Egyptian female, who will sit on the hard drive because we have no egyptian males to go with her. Oh well, I can use any dude looking fairly Mediterranian, but what will he WEAR?
I suspect the next bundle to be a Cleopatra's male counterpart.
As for what males we have now:

I have to admit I find the lack of Genesis 8 male Ancient Egyptian outfits quite striking.

As it's Cleopatra, her "partner(s)" would (basically all) be European and wear non Egyptian stuff anyway.
I mean as her and her family were Greek and she was the only one of them to speak Egyptian (if we want to be all "historically" though, she wasn't good looking either, but still).
Remember that guy stuff doesn't sell as well, and "Egyptian/Historical" is actually fairly niche too, soo, not selling a male bundle wouldn't be a shock, or probably change the sales of the female content.
For me personally all I do now is just use the female base to make "males" if I need them (mostly because the male base looks kind of odd and all the characters have bizarre bodies) then alter the clothing.
For Egyptian, just removing the chest on several female outfits would probably be fine.
Twoset and Khemsit never got their male counterparts. Makes me wonder if Egyptian girls are the new teen girls that get no teen boys. :'3
Everyone knows that as nice as those characters are, they don't count because they're not part of a DAZ Originals bundle, and they also aren't a "real base" because those have to have an 8 or 8.1 on their name to count. /sarcasm
It is obvious - you need numbers to count something ...
On balance, there's no Brutess or Underbosom, or bronze age woman bundle to go with Ashan, or barbarian woman with Scar, or millitary partner for Dain with broken clothing, or werewolf lady either.
Don't give DAZ ideas because women's products sell better than men's products. ;)
I'd totally buy a Brutess, Underbossom, and lady barbarian. Freja 8 is nice but we don't have enough strong women with "character" like these concepts.
Also, for non-dForce, a lot of female stuff in the store is skin-tight of close to - jeans or capris that are almost leggings, tops with a corsetted look that fits them snugly under the breasts - which is much easier than male stuff which typically hangs loose in places. The bigger the separation between figure skin and cloth the more adjustments are going to be needed.
Well, all the firstborn sons were killed in that last plague, so there was a relative abundance of females.
Daz was doing better for awhile, but now they're backsliding again. And my recent purchases show it too ;). Sorry Daz, no men, no mon :P

So are the mens, which is a strong pet peeve with me. Nothing looks more stupid to me than a guy in skin tight straight legs. For that matter, same goes for a female in the same type of pants. LOL

Even with jeans, if you look at just them in the store, the gender disparity is waaaaaaay lower than female vs male clothing as a whole, because making jeans for women is far more similar work as jeans for men than say, a tailored suit vs a long flowy dress.
For the record I scrolled over the first 5 pages of the store set to contemporary clothing and there was a grand total of 1 more pair of female jeans - there was a lot more female clothing in general obviously, but it would be interesting if someone did a more in depth comparison of only more tailored clothing - jeans and tailored pants, collared shirts etc.
my real gripe is the absolute dearth of flannel collared shirts for either gender, thats like 60% of my wardrobe and there's few and far between in the store
My outlook on this subject has changed over time the longer I've been both a customer, and creator (outside of Daz)
Creating 3D outfits for men doesn't necessarily take more work, it's more that 3D outfits for women take less work, going beyond the simple skimp wear argument.
"Most" 3D creators aren't fashion designers, instead we take inspiration from the world around us, whether it be from the real world or entertainment media, and try to incorporate that into our own work to conform to our own ideas at the time. The problem however, is that the severe lack of variety in mens clothing is also present in the real world, and often reflected in entertainment media, so it's a bit of a catch 22.
Now as for why there is such a lack of male characters compared to female characters here at Daz, I still haven't come up with a concrete answer to that. One could argue that they sell better, but being that there are so many variables involved, including the "same face syndrome" that's been going on for ages here, that I'm hesitant to truly believe that.
Maybe one day I'll attempt to sell a character or two of my own here and see for myself, but until then I'm doubtful that it boils down to simply "sales".
These look great, and they will make any collared shirt flannel, (but it helps if the sleeves/cuffs are separate surfaces).
I do think that women sell better because a lot of people use Daz (and other 3d store) content for adult purposes, which in general seems to focus more on female subjects. But I see so many gorgeous men IRL with unique faces and so many guys in the store that just look sort of meh... It makes me wish more artists would take inspiration from real-world men, like they do with women.
But yes, there is not a lot of variety in men's wear, so the possibility that you are repeating something that has already been done recently is high. It's a shame. At the very least, maybe we could get a greater variety of screen tees? I love buying screen tees for my guy.
They're also unavailable for purchase.
it wouldn't be to hard to procedurally generate flannels.
(I can in Carrara)
Maybe one of the DAZ PA's with scripty skills can make a flannel creator for DAZ
I look at those shader bricks and nodes and scream
Supposedly, Cleopatra had a really cute nose! (I'm just hoping someone figures out what comic I reference)
Is there anyone that doesn't know
At a guess...
Male items don't sell well, so fewer items are made, because it's not cost effective. As there are fewer male items made, less get sold. As less items are being sold, it's not cost effective to make male items. Consequently, as there appears to be only a seemingly small customer base for male items, they're not on the top of the marketing list. Not being high on the marketing list, male items don't sell well, so fewer items are made, because it's not cost effective.
And, just to top it off, when new male items are created, the main image often only features a female character in the image.
I'll return to my burrow now.
I truly Love that comic honestly :)
Definitely one of my favorite Asterix comics. I love the cartoon and movie versions too.
Exactly my thoughts. Well, bar the burrow part.
Why do I buy more female products? Because there are no male counterparts. When I want to create something, too often I find out that I cannot have a male character there, because I do not have a proper outfit for the male. So i go for a female. This only fiuels this notion that male stuff doesn't sell.
It is a vicous circle, really. I would love to have the male versions of so many outfits, especially those usable as uniforms, but no, male stuff sells bad.
So..while all are talking about the lack of male clothes, how about a list. Could start a thread and the first post is constantly updated with what people want for male clothes. If an item from the list is made, use strike out (not remove) so that suggestion is still there for any who want to make another version of it.
I have heard several people mention wanting a male outfit to go with the female one they want...no one has said what female outfits they want the male counterparts to.
