So far going okay, excepting the arm that is doing its best to hurt me.

Ugh on the arm. Be careful and don't make it worse!

I do not feel like I have the Christmas spirit. I listen to Christmas music and wear a Santa hat but I feel like I am missing something this year.

    - Cold coffee :long:
    - Have to make bank run in the cold drizzle
    - Having to learn MORE circuit design crud :shut:
    - Very little content money, have to buy more breadboarding gear for work :shut: :shut:

    Non-complaints!!

    - Hot chicken noodle soup for breakfast!
    - A BURGER MADE WITH CHEESE planned for lunch! :cheese:

Shouldn't work be paying for hardware and materials for work?

    Yes and no...

Since I'm a contractor, I can't submit purchase requests for parts I need. I have to have my boss or his boss do it, since Ben (he signs my timecard so I call him boss) is out until mid-January and Chris (Bens boss) is out, and I need those parts ASAP, I just hit Sparkfun, pay with Paypal, and my parts will show up next week some time.

Now, I can put in for reimbursement, but the last time that happened it took six weeks to get it back and it was only $20, and chasing the paperwork cost me more in my time than that $20 (WAY more), so now anything under $25 I just eat and call it the cost of being independent.*shrug*

I don't get excited about it since they're effectively paying me to learn a highly marketable skill (circuit design) while Ben the electrical engineer is out. A software guy that knows a little circuit design is a rare bird and in high demand many places around the U.S. (and the world).

But still, it's some times a touch annoying and I feel crabbity today, so.. complaint!

I'm not in high demand.

At least I fixed a problem with my website. Dumb-a$$ problem, too. A real beginner's mistake. :red: I'm embarrassed and ashamed that I made it. But now I can move forward.

...well had something new and annoying happen last night. After every time I closed down Daz 4.7, I got the Daz Crash Report message. I am hoping it is because I disabled the Reality plugin (haven't yet installed the update as some have mentioned it has new bugs) since it was taking longer and longer to load a scene (even some content) and there was very noticeable lag with the sliders in the Parameters Tab. I was also getting a lot of "white screens" where the whole UI tuns white and long periods of the application in "Not Responding" mode when switching from one scene to another even after using the Purge Memory and Clear Undo Stack scripts each time.

It doesn't crash when rendering, only on closing after a scene is saved.

Not sure if I like that tradeoff for when this happened in the past, the scene file I had just worked on would sometimes be corrupted.

They also need to fix the link in the crash report dialogue because it still goes to the old Mantis site (clicking on it brings up the "Site is Untrustworthy" message from FF).

...going to put this on the 4.7 sticky thread.

That's weird and annoying.. since I disabled Reality I've had times when the cursor just flat-out vanished and I had to quit DS and come back for it to return. :ahhh:

Maybe I'll re-enable it as I've had no noticeable slowdown with it running... :blank:

since i'm not able to browse the store all day, really haz me saving my money.

there's no sitting here dreaming up - oh i could do this with that, or do that with this.
my last 'big' purchase was the steampunk streets.
and on the weekends, there's no more dumping my money on 1.99 items.

but my weekday evening habits may change again. only 2 more LLS Craig Furgeson episodes to watch, he's quitting his show.

    6 minutes to weekend :)

Be you using the latest version ? (4.7)
Oi be using the latest version.
Ever since upgrading to the newest iteration, I get this error message after quitting DAZ. ... Not right away, but after about 10-15 mins of 'other stuff' on the PC the error will pop-up announcing the DAZ is failing to respond, and asking what I want to do about it (Wait for it to change it's mind? or quit the program! etc. etc.)
This used to happen every time after exiting with one of the Betas, and some two, or three versions ago, but it was 'fixed' in the last couple of versions.
Another thing which has re-appeared is the annoying habit of deciding to 'optimise frames 1 to 86' when I press 'render'
to a still 'png' or 'jpg' render. Doesn't happen every time, but when it rears it's ugly head now I quit DAZ straight-way, because it takes a yonk to go through the process, frame by frame, clogs up the backend with all those 'temp' files, and then.. when it eventually begins the actual render,...IT CRASHES ANYWAY!
A most annoying result of this :blank: (as if that wasn't enough!) having got the error-while-rendering message (which one might be allowed to think that the render has now quit!) I am prevented from further attempts at rendering, for when I try, I get politely (but firmly) told that "this is impossible, as DAZ is currently rendering!" :smirk:
However! If everything worked as we expected, life might just turn out to be too much of a bore

I was really good at debugging when I was working with Visual FoxPro. But this .NET stuff is sometimes mind-boggling. I was told by a contractor that worked with me at COMDEX that there aren't many people who can go through someone else's code and fix it the way I could. I thought it was just called doing my job. But he seemed to think it was special. And he was in the business a long time. This, as I said, was a stupid beginner's mistake. I had added a couple of columns to the shopping cart table, and one of them I added the constraint that nulls are not allowed. Then I forgot to update any stored procedures that access that table. The one that did inserts to the shopping cart table was where the problem existed. It was a two minute fix. But I was baffled for two months. Fortunately I tried something in another page (the wishlist - I tried to add the item to the wishlist, then move it from there to the cart) and that showed the error. All this time I thought something was wrong with the Add to Cart button on the individual product page, but it didn't make sense because it had been working since October of 2013 and I had made no changes to the form/page since then. :shut:

...not good as most banks usually hit one with a hefty fee unless you have overdraft protection.

Can you check your account status online?

No but I did check it. It is currently in the positive but I have to deposit my whole check to make sure no overdrawn stuff comes through.
