I have him in my cart right now. Knowing Daz, there's the possibility of Flash Sales + New Release.

Got excited that I forgot the links: Kota 8.1 https://www.daz3d.com/kota-81

The first Pop Idol Bundle: https://www.daz3d.com/kota-81-pop-idol-bundle

The second Mech Warrior Bundle: https://www.daz3d.com/kota-81-mech-warrior-bundle

Those Kota mixes look so good.

Hopefully, my G8Ms will finally match my G8Fs.

Me too. A big gift card sale would be sweet too.

I grabbed the bundle the minute it was available but had to wait until the store settled. Very happy Daz released a great looking male character!  A free Daz bundle was also a good incentive, not that I needed any to purchase this particular bundle.

The product addons page seems to be having issues.

@memcneil70 I need the GC sale, used up my $10 store credit.

@Worlds_Edge I am tempted by the bundle, but I really want that outfit in the first/cover promo for Kota. I think it'll be in the second bundle.

@Serene Night I think those haven't been released, but I like what I see.

He looks great! Instant pickup today!

  • Still waiting to figure out what's supposed to work and not work as a discount, although the bundle is a crazy good price for me now and I'm at a mental $ limit already. So, maybe I'll just pick him up and ignore the rest.

I get 2 orange banners on this one.

Thanks for purchasing the Kiko 8.1 Rising Star Bundle and/or the Kiko 8.1 Battle Warrior Bundle last week! Add to your Kitsune collection and enjoy an EXTRA 20% OFF the Kota 8.1 Pop Idol Bundle.

    and

You've got an awesome assortment of Genesis 8.1 Bundles! Add the Kota 8.1 Pop Idol Bundle to your collection and get an EXTRA 20% OFF of this rockin' Kitsune-goes-pop bundle.

So the price for the Kota bundle goes down quite a bit for me with the 2 add-on textures (both of which I like).

While I was in the kitchen baking cookies before 90+ heat today, my cart went down $10.00 at least. Where's my card?

Well I for one would like a few PC+ (LOL) bundles.

    a) A rock band bundle with drums, electric guitar, electric bass, keyboards. You know. Standard minimal rock band.

    b) A brass big band like Glenn Miller would be conducting

    c) Bluegrass band with banjo, acoustic guitar, mandolin, violin, bass (fiddle)  .

    a) The bigee: A full orchestra!

  • Okay, pulled the trigger, got the price on the Kota bundle at $17.15 after combining all the discounts I can get (2 add on discount plus the 2 orange banners).

(Again, another figure that would have made a Season Pass very very attractive.)

Now for a Fred/Kota blend LOL.

i like him, reminds me of Cloud Strife.

but i need to save my money to pay the carrara plugin developers
waiting over 8 years now for the daz to update autofit/autofollow,
the eyelashes are killing my character renders
lack of geografts making my g8males unhappy

Okay, Kota comes with Human & Fox morphs. HD is included as separate morphs of both Human & Fox. (i.e. do not have to buy a separate HD morph, which is appreciated since this wasn't a standard practice prior to Kiko & Kota) Both figures, plus the HD morph, are included with the Kota 8.1 product when I filter by product.

There's an "Eyebrow Off" option... but, as with recent base figures, there is no Fibermesh eyebrow included with Kota. The Eyebrow Off doesn't seem to have the same concerns as Kiko's version under the chin.

Makeups have the Eyebrow ON by default. This might create some ghost eyebrows if the makeups extend to the brow region... but there's not so many makeups for a dude compared to Kiko.

Gens textures included for Female & Male anatomical props.

Foxy ears are a morph, as was the case with Kiko (which is very good compared to other less furry Furries that use grafts/props to create the Fox ears, IMO).

Anyone who has purchased the bundle and/or this outfit https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-flow-outfit-for-genesis-81-male-and-kota-81, if you could perhaps render the outfit without the coat, I would really appreciate it! I love the style, but I'm interested in gauging how kit-bashable the outfit actually is. It's hard to tell what the individual pieces look like from the promos.

Here is the outfit without the jacket.

The jacket cups the pecs in an odd way, which looks like a female outfit fit.

I like that the outfit does not require dForce to use. I wish there was a texture expansion.

Thank you! It looks good without the jacket as well, so I might pull the trigger on it now :).

    I'd say yes.

Between the bundles and add ons, I only wanted one hair, one outfit and one character. The resulting extra price after getting Kota would have been $6.66 per item. $6.66 is ok if money isn't tight, but for me right now, it is. So I just got Kota. After survey credit and coupon, he was completely free.

I did a quick test render last night, and he really is good looking. The only problem is that when he is loaded in a scene, making changes slows to a crawl. Using mesh grabber to try to fix his hair was taking forever, so I just gave up. Even applying an expression or adjusting his pose took forever. I am not used to such sluggishness anymore after recently upgrading my system memory and CPU. Things are usually much more zippy. It was a real pain. I will have to see what I can do to mitigate that. I think loading his tail only after setting up the rest of the scene might go a long way. Once the render process actually started, it was fine. No crashes and things went quickly.

Note: I went to attach my test render but it's the wrong file format. I'll have to add it later, when I get to my desk.

Thanks. I just bought it. For some reason I don't always see every new release.

@ioonrxoon, ah, you are correct. It didn't even click until you mentioned it! But the shirt collar on that particular promo doesn't look promising.

I don't have him yet, but Kiko loads with subD 3 applied. If it's the same for Kota, lower subD to 2 or 1. Keep an eye on render subD as it changes when you change viewport subD. Edit: Also, Kiko's cap for ear fur has smoothing and collision set to 5. This slows down things too.

Could always go with just the vest.....

The brown texture has a white bit showing through on the back of the shirt.

Here is the outfit without the vest. I found that closing the eye on the jacket and vest, leaves the buttons behind, so either delete the full garment or close the buttons' eyes also.

Second outfit with this style of collar. I wonder if the PAs know something we don't about upcoming male office shirt styles?

Also the hair, the color will not showup until you go to Iray or render.

At first, I thought Kota and the bundle would be great for my wishlist, which is over 3,000 products long, so that'd be a long term thing waiting for a great deal. Then I started investigating the deals and discounts (two orange banners) available, and immediately moved the bundle into my basket. With a bit of browsing through what's available, it can be a really old fashioned great deal! (In my case, I didn't have the Return to Treasure Island bundle yet, and owned only about a third of its contents.)

So I loaded the Azurite Outfit, closed off the jacket, armor, sword so we could see the shirt, pants, shoes, gloves for possible normal street usage. This is from the texture pack. I love the selections. I think this is one outfit that would be best with boots though, not sports shoes. But I have enough in my library to fit over those tight pants.

The belt buckle looks tilted in this one. Does it have adjustments to correct it?

That collar makes this outfit a no for me.

You are right, might end up going for this outfit instead.

My problem with these outfits is how tight they are. Real clothes do not fit like that. It's the sort of thing I expect from older stuff, but I was really hoping we had gotten past that. I have seen amazing clothes in games that use Daz characters and environments, but they aren't clothes that are sold here. Maybe it's stuff made with Marvelous Designer? I wish we could get some of that.
