My entry for the month is a bit different, an unusual take on the heat in the wild west.
Well, the contest is heat in the wild west, ok, you got it. It's really wild out there now. So we have a woman crawling across what used to be a lake bed in 120+ degree heat, no rain, no water of any kind, except the bottle she is headed for. Fires raging all around, sparks flying, grass and trees dead or dying. The West of 2021 is here, probably from now on.
yes I'm in Germany, we are all safe, my hometown is safe and now starting to clean up, some people lost all but their lives, but we will help each other. Other places in Germany a lot of people died and the water has caused a lot more damage.
It's a relief to hear you're all OK. The maps showing the flooded areas make them seem unrealistically and reassuringly small, but the destruction in those areas looks absolutely horrific. As someone who has to put flood defences out every thunderstorm, I really feel for those who have had their houses damaged or destroyed. In 2018 we had a series of storms that caused flooding that came within 1cm of the top of our defences - that made me frantic. I can only imagine how awful it would be to see it come into ones house.
while the rains alone were often filling cellars, it was mostly either breaking/ overflowing dams from reservoirs or relieving the reservoirs from the overflow of water to avoid the breaking of dams that really crushed houses and everything on the way. that's why the areas look comparatively small. Teh region in which the rains came down hard were huge this time not punktuall like in other years.
But I should let this thread return to being a happy place with fantastic images from the wild wild west.

Title: Parched and on fire
Wow, the contest just turned a little apocalyptic! LOL! That puma is looking a little hungry... yikes!
With all the major wildfires in California every couple of years, this render may hit a little too close to home for some!

It's important to keep some happy places happy
Nah... it's so important to do both! There is an saying, "Sharing a burden makes it lighter, sharing a happiness makes it multiply". Thanks for sharing!

Glad to hear you're safe; it's terrible how devastating the flood has been. Good luck with the clean-up.
katywhite, I think both Saphirewild and Linwelly have a fair bit of stuff going on in real life and are not able to prioritize the forum as highly as in previous months. For my part I'm going to leave things be a bit at the moment, and to let them give as much attention to us as they feel able without adding to the pressure on them. You'll see from earlier in the thread, Linwelly was affected by the recent floods in Germany (which must be traumatic) and I think I saw in another thread elsewhere that Saphirewild has some family medical issue going on, which will need concentration and care.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize. I haven't had time to read every post, thank you for pointing this out for me.

That's wild for sure. I love the post-apocalyptic feel to it. Really excellent work.
sorry for my long absence, we had no power for three days due to the floodings in my hometown. We're all well and happy to have our power back
I'm very sorry for this trouble... Are you in Germany?
Oh man, I hope everyone's safe!

I'm gone for just a couple of days and suddenly all these new renders! Maybe I should go away more often!
Perlk, definitely an Old Western classic! Beautifully executed. Thanks again for the Corset!
Really cool scene! Love the lighting effects and shadows. Just looking at the scene is giving me claustrophobia!

I'm sorry to hear about the flooding! That must have been quite an ordeal. I'm glad everyone is safe and well!

Thanks! =)
