I like the tail shape and it looks like it has a lot of movement capability ... but not a fan of the fins looking so solid. I guess creating some trans maps wouldn't be too hard. But also not a fan that it's not usable on both male and female and seeming only one female. It's a wait-and-see for me.

There are still another couple characters at least with other adjustments to the tail. I know one has some shaping that is just lovely, and then a character Handspan did (and I did a little tech work on) has more translucent fins (she did a great job with them). So, yes, the fins can be made more translucent :D

Well, at first I was curious why she was released without promo pictures. Seemed like a bug.

But after seeing the actual promos, wow, they probably shouldn't have fixed this. Looks like Gen 4 era stuff. I can only hope this isn't due to the quality of the character.

Also unsure what her skin texture brings to the table that Victoria 8.1 doesn't already cover.

Quite a disappointing release, unless you were specifically looking for a mermaid character I would assume.

I am not into mermaids, or other fantasy human/animal hybrids, but I look if the character has a human option with an interesting sculpt and Coral and CC Amarine do. I am still trying to get a handle on Coral's expressions, but Amarine I am loving. Changling Chick always does an excellent package, and I loved the hetrochromatic eyes in there.

    Thank you so much!

Just realized that Coral and Zale only come with one texture set for their included tails, which I am definitely not a fan of. Arki's alternative tails have more textures, but I don't like those as much.

In case anyone is wondering what @changelingchick 's Amarine looks like as a human, one of my promos features her human form :)

Lots of talk about Coral but barely any renders. I wasn't sure if I was going forward with the purchase before into sales end and I had hoped to see tons of renders to help me decide but there's not enough to really help me say yes.

For those who have her, is her face sculpt more on the realistic side or is it more on the artistic side? The promo images of the face in one look more real than in others, don't.

I thought she looked pretty stylized myself ;)

So can you use the tail and not the gills. I like th way Coral looks, but not the gills part

Thanks for the render. CC makes great products, but at least for me, her promo renders often work against her. I also wish I knew the character came with extra materials for Coral's accessories when I bought Coral, because I definitely would have bought her at the same time.

And in my render, she's covering her mouth.

I've got two renders running, but as soon as I have a free DS instance, I'll try it out. Hopefully someone gives you an answer before then, though.

edit: also, you could just use the Fulcia mertail, as that comes with an optional neck gills geograft. Personally, I don't care for the design of that tail as much, but it might be fine for your purposes.

followup: I don't see any way to either remove or hide the gills on Coral's tail.

    Sirening the Sirens

Probably done rendering mermaids for at least a little while, but here's Kent and her hair, both of the mertails released with Coral, Athena hair, and Dragan.

Thanks Gordig, guess I'll pass then as that was the deciding factor for me. I like the tail design, but not the gills on the torso area. The Fulcia mertail doesn't really appeal to me, but appreciate the info.

You could do what I did and convert the Laguna mertail to G8F.

Experimenting with converting the Coral tail for 8.1M, because I don't much like Arki's tail, and Zale's tail is not something I see myself using often.

I'll probably just do the Laguna tail instead, since I never got around to converting that for males, and it's easier to use than Coral's tail is turning out to be.

Not sure what's going on with the color changing at the transition point, but I haven't yet decided that I care enough about this project to troubleshoot.

I actually thought you did the color change as a transition and quite like it.

Ok, at first was happy to see they finally released an updated mermaid tail.  Then I saw it, and wasn't super happy with the look.  Should have some subtle transparency elements, and I feel that you could provide morphs for different looks, but disappointed there is no option (it seems) to have a sterotypical mermaid tail look.  Despite the need for a mermaid tail, I am passing and will continue to use the one designed for Genesis 2.

There are transparency mats included with Coral, although they don't appear in Smart Content. I do still prefer the more traditional look of the Laguna tail, though, and will probably use that more often than Coral's tail, at least for G8 characters.

Is that the "Tail Any PBRSkin" version? I don't know the actual differences, but it's something to try if your first attempt used the version made for Coral.

Discoloration aside, the fit and gills look good.

It is. I had to load that into the window as well so that I could copy the surfaces from the geoshell. In hindsight, I could have just loaded that version in the first place.

I should add that it looks fine in the viewport, so maybe it's some transparency setting I'm missing or something.

@gordig any tips for converting the Laguna tail to g8f and g8m? I have it and am also not a fan of the gills on Coral 8.1, though I like her face a lot, and I did like her tail when I thought I could use it without gills. I think I 'm going to stick with the Laguna tail for now.
