The terrain from High Resolution Terrains 2 is the same as above (previous page) for Pit City but not inverted and three more with a cobbled together material from Terrain Stacking and Gritstone Hills. Sky and ambient light by an HDRI from the Sunless HDRI Skies set.

Adbc - three beautiful renders, all very nicely done. Some leaves of the palm tree in the last render, seem a bit detached from the stems.

Horo - another beautiful landscape, the lighting and material are awesome.

Two stacked terrains generated in the TE and manipulated in the TE Filter, which I used many times.  This time I used it for Dave’s temple model, which I modified a bit to suit the scene (I hope Dave doesn’t mind). Lighting is one of Horo’s Hdri which I modified.

mermaid - thank you. Very well done scene with Dave's temple and the background buildings (?) or monoliths.

Hubert, Thank you. Indeed, the lights in the underwater scene may indeed be a bit weird, but I liked it anyway.

adbc, I agree with Past as future: dreamy renders. I like them very much. But, just like mermaid, I see leaves that appear to be not linked to branches in the last one. Amazing that these three are from the same terrain!

    Horo, Fantastic terrain again.

Mermaid, great idea to make a part covered ruin of the temple by Dave. Good use of the TE filters, which I tend to forget that I can use them as well. Should do that more often!

Now I decided to use more of my available assets for a new render and to mix things up to get impossible situations. This is the destroyed shower room with a Styracosaurus confronting Brandon (a Genesis 2 figure) with K-warrior outfit. I retextured the destroyed shower room elements, most of them by replacing picture based textures by procedural ones, but the tyle texture to the left and right was too nice to replace and therefore I just lowered its resolution substantially. I also reduced the texture size of the figure textures.

The shower room originally has a sky dome around it, which I simply removed and then played with sky until I got what I like. I added a weak fill light (almost as big as the room, only inward lighting) and two spherical lights to add some light on the shadow side of each figure. I did consider putting a modern lady in the scene as well. But what would a well-dressed modern lady do in such a dilapidated environment? So I decided to leave that figure out.

Past as Future, Horo, mermaid, Hansmar : thank you.

Horo : fantastic terrain, awesome material.

mermaid : that's a great idea for the use of Dave's temple, very well done.

Hansmar : beautiful scene, excellent idea.

I agree that the leaves are a bit detached in the 3rd image, it was a free model, impossible to change anything, the tree leaves and the ferns on the ground are one item, impossible to separate them.

Hansmar - thank you. Great scene with the Dino in this room.

    adbc - thank you.

A terrain from Landscapes under Fantastic Skies, inverted, warped, then copied and rotated. The material is from High Resolution Terrains 2. Sky and ambient light by an HDRI, also from Landscapes under Fantastic Skies, the key light by the sun.

adbc, mermaid, Horo, Thank you very much.

    Horo, Wonderful terrain, great render.

I used the Dystopia set to make a couple of renders. Added 'pillars' (the firy flamy elements) by Jepe and the flying saucer of the Greyling alien and the Drag Trike by Phil Drawbridge to the scene. I played with different skies (including some HDRI by Horo) and textures (including a stone texture by RajRaja). Second one is a panoramic render. I like the effect it has on the sky. In most of these the light is only from the HDRI, except of some additional spotlight light on the Trike in the second one.

Horo : awesome terrain render, great composition.

Hansmar : wonderful dystopia scenes, all beautiful skies.

A terrain render, some inverted and manipulated to get an unusual, even unexpected effect.

Past as Future - thank you.

Hansmar - thank you. Three well done renders with the Dystopia set.

adbc - thank you. Strange and interesting terrain. The foreground/middle ground could be a town with the mountains in the background.

adbc, Horo, Thanks. I forgot to mention that I added a reflecting box around the city. And I made two more renders, with different skies again, now without the addition of saucers and trike. One is a bird's eye view and the other a top view. The top view is more of an abstract picture, I think.

    Horo : thank you.

Hansmar : two great renders, the top view has my preference, very well done.

Again some manipulated terrains, added "nap in the woods" by Adan from Sketchfab, deleted some parts, duplicated it and textured with Bryce.

Hansmar - I like the POV of the first city render, the second does not convince me, though it is a good idea.

adbc - very well done surreal landscape.

Double stacked terrain from High Resolution Terrains 2 with materials from HRT 3 and the water material from HRT 4. Sky and ambient light by the Furka HDRI from the HDRI Pack1, the key light by the sun.

Horo - both the warped landscape and island are beautiful, awesome atmosphere in both.

Hansmar - superb ser of renders with the Dystopia set, the 5th one is my fav

Adbc  - two interesting landscapes with awesome skies.

I used the terrains from my challenge entry, with a reflective material and a sky from Landscapes under Fantastic Skies, adding a supermoon.

    Horo, mermaid : thank you.

Horo : superb terrain, beautiful sky reflecting on the water.

mermaid : beautiful landscape, the reflective material on the terrain is awesome, so is the sky and adding the supermoon makes it complete.

  • HoroHoro Posts: 10,643

mermaid - thank you. These reflecting mountains look very good with the sky and the big moon looks very nice.

    adbc - thank you.

    Horo:
    - Your "Gritstone Hills" material image looks like it might contain fossils. May I dig there?? :)
    - Your "Landscapes under Fantastic Skies" derived scene "rocks", literally!
    - That island looks like Swiss *after* the Global Warming won. Nice composition and sky. That mat works very well on this scale.

    Mermaid:
    - Good use of Dave’s temple model. This could be a scene from the Stargate (TM,R,C,IHA) series.
    - A very moody seascape. Beautiful coloring and mats. Cool idea with the large Moon.

    Hansmar:
    - Great dino fantasy scene. (Hint: One cannot teach an old dino new tricks! Or was that saying about dogs...??)
    - 3 cool SciFi city scenes.
    - Dito for the 2 new cities, whereas the top image is my favorite there.

    adbc:
    - Impressive terrain work and a cool mat in the image from 20th. It looks like an otherworldly city.
    - Another cool scene with those 2 robots. They look sorta lost on that planet. Cool mats, water and atmo, btw.

    I hope that I didn't forget anyone.  ;)

hubert - thank you. Yes, there are fossils and you may dig out and keep what you find (I read a couple of books by a paleontologist a few months ago and this inspired me). The island is actually under a Swiss sky :), below at right (invisible) is the Rhone glacier and we are looking down the valley.

A self made terrain from the under side with a partly reflecting and transparent material with a low refractive index together with the camera within a partly transparent and partly reflecting cube. Light and colour by an HDRI from the Hyper Textures Base set. A somewhat blossom-like figment.

adbc, Thanks. And a very funny render.

Horo, Thank you. You made a very good vulcanic island render. The last one is a great abstract.

Mermaid, my thanks. Love your landscape. Wonderful colours.

I think, I did not share this yet. It is a limited reworking of the 'shallow-slow' scene from the underwater part of the Environments_BeneathTheWaves set.

    Beautiful underwater image, great atmosphere.

Hansmar - thank you. Very nice underwater - or below the surface - scene.

    adbc - thank you.

    Horo:
    - Many thanks! I'll start digging there asap. Maybe I'll find some petrified bones, to keep my dog busy for some time. ;)
    - Your terrain-in-a-cube looks trippy. Wild stuff!

Hansmar: A wonderfully done underwater scene. Beautiful atmo/lighting.
