really off topic but I keep seeing the acronym EFTPOS mentioned on Australian websites. I haven't seen it anywhere else except on New Zealand sites, I think. I'm going to research EFTPOS now. Bye

... Le' sigh. Not entirely sure when this issue cropped up but I am having issues with Daz and YouTube. Previously I could watch videos with Daz up and rendering. But now Shockwave flash crashes if I am on YouTube with Daz just sitting on a scene (meaning it's not even rendering). My best guess is something in the 4.7 update is the culprit but it could also be something in Firefox

As near as I can tell, my flash drivers are up to date though I guess I can double check

Weird because you wouldn't expect Flash to care :(

...this is why I keep the old notebook running. I can view tutorials on it while working in Daz on the main system with no conflicts or performance lag.

..same here, though laid down for earlier this evening and dozed off for a while

Been playing around figuring out the Iray render engine. The Iray "Clear Glass" material seems to have a very strong IOR as light bending becomes too pronounced. Used it for the windows on Jack's Deco Shelter and everything behind the glass distorts unnaturally compared to what one would see in RL.

Decreasing the IOR unfortunately kills the surface reflectivity though.

Hopefully there is some kind of workaround.

Mesh lights are pretty neat though. Can even apply them to primitives (even instanced ones) which I cannot do in Reality/Lux.

Applying lights to primitives and meshes is the only way to get lights to work period in Maxwell :)

Actually, a lot of unbiased engines convert lights to polygonal meshes at rendertime, even if it doesn't appear that way. Often got in the way with reflective scenes in Indigo, since the created geometry light would show up in the reflections and there was no way (until recently) to hide them from rendering while still getting the light out.

...for some reason, Reality wouldn't recognise them even if Lux would for when I tried to convert a couple primitives to mesh lights, Reality would not move them to the light group.

Don't have Luxus so can't see if it works there.

...well finished for the night playing around with the new render engine. Need to let the system take a rest.

That 2nd glass of Pinot Grigo seems to be doing the trick as I am finally feeling a bit sleepy.

Up and waiting for the 3-yr old to get here. He's going to enjoy the cat pictures about 5 pages back. I talked we talked a lot in this thread, but those people over in the Iray threads put us to shame. Babble, babble, babble. I don't see a new computer any where in my future, so I'll be sticking with a single core, 32 bit laptop.

Things still sound bad in Tulsa, but maybe a move to new quarters will make it tolerable. If the hardware man ever shows his face again, tie him to a desk. Make that a many-tentacled desk to keep him in place.

I'm glad y'all's snow is melting. Gonna be too wet to plow though. Mud is yucky unless you're making mud pies.

Enough babbling for now. I need more coffee.

Moving will get me in a more comfy place, just kind of a ways out from downtown.. no big deal, really. It's WAY closer to shopping! :)

Dunno about the hardware guy. He's having weird complications from back surgery, but he's not pushing to get it fixed, and he's developed a screw-work attitude, so trying to keep hiom here is likely counter-productive. %-P

Up too early, intestines hating on me, spent a lot of time in the bathroom last night, feh. :shut:

struggling in excel, could do e z p z in access. iz macro paranoid, even when saving as a macro enabled workbook.

i'd rather be learning RSL,but it doesn't pay the rent. Excel is wayy more popular

it makes it difficult to program, not enough examples, macro paranoia, supposedly you can make dashboards.

my big dayjob goal this year to be as familiar with excel as i am with access.

Friend of mine was making a simple game in Blender a few years back, based on that simple 'Adventure' game. Wasn't easy to restart if you got killed or eaten, had to reload the whole game. But it was pretty funny seeing the carnivorous plants in it eat you, even if the animations did act a bit funny at times (Some poke-through and whatnot). Don't think he ever finished it, he gets sidetracked a lot. But with how easily he handles Blender, man XD

I've looked at the Blender Game Engine, alas it's not as portable as Corona.

I figure I can use DS to render out short animations and use them as sprite sequences. I'll make several different versions of death scenes so that it doesn't get TOO boring, same for attack sequences. :snake:

Reading the Corona tutorials now.. it uses Lua, guess I better learn Lua.. :blank:
