Forum Problems

Is DAZ having problems with the forums ? It seems very unstable. After repeated 502 errors all day yesterday I couldn't get on at all last night. It was up this morning for a short while then back to 502 errors. Now it seems to be back up at least temporarily but I don't kbnow how long it will last.
I hope these problems will be fixed soon.

These problems have been happening for so long without resoulution or even a slight reduction in occurrence, I suspect nobody is working on them. Would anybody care to search the forum for the first ocurrence of "cloudflare"? I'll bet this goes back at least to 2016, six years ago.
Probably this isn't a priority; hence, we're probably not a priority either. Hey, convince me I'm wrong.
This is the first time I got in today, and I've been trying every couple of hours since I woke up 11 hours ago.
I am sure their Discord was pumping and many deals being done.
we are the 1% here![crying crying](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/cry_smile.png)
We are in communication with Daz about the issue and they are trying to work on it. Believe me, we know it'a frustrating
Maybe related to this from 09 June 2021 ;-)

Why would it only effect just the forums?
The DAZ forums are the only Cloudflare site that I have experienced such problems with. Even the shop works without problems.
I couldn't get on and checked all the Daz3d.com links. All worked except the Forum so it is only where the forum is on Daz3d.com that is the problem. Nothing to do with Cloudflare.
Every error I got yesterday said Cloudflare was fine. It was the host (Daz3d.com) that was having issues. It's getting so frequent that it makes me want to come here less and less. I'm sure there are some who would be happy about that. LOL
Nobody is more annoyed with this than we are. We're on anywhere from 12-16 hrs a day reading almost every post made to the forum and this is total insanity. Things have been airborne in my house between yesterday and today. Now we have 2 days of trying to catch up on while the outages seem to be heading into the direction of yesterday.
The thing is, Frank, that this has been going on for years. As was mentioned above - a quick search will reveal hundreds of posts complaining about these 502 errors (same problems, different descriptions). I don't believe it is a Cloudflare thing - they are a massive service used by lots of top commercial organisations with few problems. But the DAZ servers have been offline, slow, unreliable for longer than I care to remember and nothing has been done. Surely they realise that people who use their software and buy from their store rely heavily on the forum to ask questions, comment on quality, share ideas and techniques.
You talk about being annoyed and I would point out that few things about this forum are more annoying than composing a post only to have the screen freeze and a 502 error pop up. Or hitting "Post Comment" and nothing happens so you click it again, and again, until, minutes later, you find there are three duplicates of your post. My friends and I run a forum and use free, Open Source software and it doesn't have any of these issues. No down time, always available and - I might add - better features than the unfit-for-purpose software DAZ has chosen to run with. Our site is not very pretty but it works.
Looks like the Forums are going for a sleep again...
Intermittent issues have been going on for some time, the last couple of days however were more than intermittent.
yeah
I wish they would let THE hamster retire already, the adrenaline shots don't have a long lasting effect anymore... Gonna play with DS instead...
You don't need to remind us that it's been going on for a long time. We know better than anyone how often the forums go down. I come on between 4-5am and get off between 10-midnight. I can usually tell you exactly how many times it goes down in a day, and it's only getting worse. Yes, we know its annoying to everyone on the site and not just us. There are only 2-3 dozen complaints about it in a day along with our own experiences. We do know the difference between cloudflare going down and Daz going down. It even tells you in great big letters on the error screen what went down. In fact I just had to retype the darn post because of an overlay 502 error. Your just speculating on what Daz is and isn't doing about all of this. We do and they aren't just sitting around letting it happen. The double posting is really annoying because it happens to us too. We are the ones that have to remove all those double posts so we are well aware of how much of a problem it is and how many people it is happening to. I have made websites, forums and ran a store and forum for 10 yrs and we used phpbb for the forums and never once had a single problem in those 10 years. There were compatibility problems that made it so Daz couldn't use it here. How nice I just had to redo this post again.
Well thanks for confirming all I said. Makes a nice change from having moderators automatically make excuses for DAZ. Still, I find it hard to belive that DAZ have cared a jot about this problem because it has been going on for so long. It has taken a major outage like this one to galvanise them into some form of action (if what you say is correct).
Well, I'm glad they seem to be up and running again at last.
Just let me pick that bar up for you![devil devil](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/devil_smile.png)
For me it's a minor inconvinience, but I cannot begin to imagine how you are feeling.
Forums are back! Glitchy but back :-) All day yesterday and I keep long days ... no forum access. It's now Sunday afternoon and it's here again - had one [so far] sudden 502 while trying to post in another thread. But it's back again. Hoping it stays back :-)
Mods are behind in reviewing posts? This my chance to implement my evil plan! Bwahahahaha!
It was down all evening, all night, and was still down when I went to bed at 7am. Host error, not cloudfare. I'm just glad it wasn't hacked and maliciously destroyed. I feel sorry for the vendors, as many posts generate sales. They're the real victims, not the mods, and not the forum members. We didn't lose money over this mess, they certainly did. @frank0314 if you're on from 4-5am and getting off at 10 or midnight, then you're only getting around 4 hours of sleep? That's not healthy, don't do that to yourself. Forums and Daz are certainly NOT worth it. We appreciate what you do, but it shouldn't be at your expense. Stop and smell the roses- and not a 3d one.![wink wink](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.png)
...just had another one over on the Daz Studio forum that took several minutes to clear after I clicked the Post Comment button. Beginning to feel we are in an old biplane held together with scotch tape, bubblegum, and bailing wire in a thunderstorm.
If Daz openly communicated with its customers, there wouldn't be any need for speculation. As a bonus, you mods would not be stuck in the unenviable position between annoyed customers and an unresponsive company.
I get about 3-4 of sleep a night but thats due to pain, not on purpose.
I got a new 502 error just now and loading time for the forum is taking longer
The 502 error is pretty much a meme at this point. The entire forum software needs to be scrapped, and completely replaced. If posts get lost, I don't care, as long as the new forum is functional like people expect a modern website from a company that pitches technology should work.
The forum is a part of your sales. The forum is a common place for people to find, well, anything about Daz. From how it works to talking about products (since there are no reviews), the forum is a destination for many users at some point in time. But when customers have difficulty using the forum, from its worst in class search function, to constant 502 errors and down times, it certainly stands to reason this would impact how users, customers, view Daz Studio as a company and how capable that company is for creating the software they use.
I wonder how many people attempt to come use these forums to find help, but get turned away by 502s or that hideous joke of a search feature. Daz Studio has a lot of stuff to learn, and this forum is one of the few places in the entire internet where people can find this information. Sure, people can use Google or other search engines to search the Daz forums, but a lot of people do not really know this. Most people just type something in the search bar and hope for the best because they are not tech savvy.
So what is the point of trying to keep this old rickety forum together when it barely functions as it is? It needs to go. The whole thing. It is not good for anyone. I am tired of it. You can look at my post history and see that I am not coming here as often as I used to. These forums are the single biggest reason why that is. I am tired of dealing with these forums. And I am also buying less than I used to. I like to use the browser add on that places forum links on the product page, because I like to look to see any product discussions before buying. Well, if the forum isn't loading properly that kind of puts a damper on that.
the forum these days is pretty thin skinned and flakey at best... doesn't take much for it to go error502 several times in a day no matter what timezone you're in![no no](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/thumbs_down.png)
This was all foretold in the final issue of Server-Hamster...
Well I sure as heck DO care. As you can see from the number of my posts, I have spent a LOT of time discussing products, problems (and getting help, which I then put in a reference section so others can get assistance when they encounter the same thing) showing tips for rendering and investing HOURS in each tutorial, and learning so much from others. SO many people put their heart and soul into the forums that I personally would never say if posts go "poof" I don't care. You also mention the forums are where people find information and learn, so I am assuming you mean a FEW posts, not the entire forum? Didn't that happen before when changing software? So much was lost, it isn't funny to even entertain that thought. I do think you have spot-on comments on how these constant glitches impact people's perception of DAZ.
