Just a quickie. All my utilities were shut off yesterday. Laptop and phone need a recharge. I'm at the Y right now. Housemate and I are fine, both are experienced primitive campers.
Will be back when I can. If I can come with with $3600 utilities will be turned back on. Hah!

No, you said the data was written on the top, under the label...it's on the bottom, which makes more sense to me as the label would prevent the laser from reading. I knew that the laser pointed up at the disc.

Ah, I see - what I'd meant was just on top of the piece of plastic, with the labelling and so on over it, but it wasn't very clearly expressed.

....ugh, more forum login glitches, this time really bad (reason for the absence).

From the notebook, seems I'm able to login to the store and the help centre, but not the forums no matter what I do. Cleared cache, closed/restarted FF, and even shut down and restarted the system, but nothing worked. Didn't change any settings related to Daz3D since I was last on Thursday evening so this shouldn't be happening.

Currently on the workstation which for some odd reason is letting me login (FF settings for the forums are the same on both systems and I have the same set of plugins active), but that means I have to stay online while working and rendering which takes away system resources.

Submitted a support ticket but don't expect a response until Monday.

One would think after almost 3 years, this would have been dealt with.

This is a completely different problem, as you would see if you checked the forum. There is a dedicated thread about the issue

A flush flood is what you get from a misbehaving toilet.

...meanwhile in Denver this is what they woke up to this morning.

...and yes there was a game scheduled between the Rockies and Dodgers today. Tied 5 - 5 in the 5th inning, only 38°

Morning. Windy today. Sleeping through dawn feels weird. Drinking lemon and tea for sore throat, trying not to cough too much. Still a bit sick bleh :(

Add a bit of brandy or bourbon to it. It helps numb the throat and keep your chest clear.

That won't cure it, but it will make it a pleasure to have.

Significant other got an iPad Air 2.

It's been a while since I've had a new Apple product, but, seriously? This is what beats Microsoft and Google? The Lightning cable is cheap and flimsy compared to the old proprietary & virtually proprietary cables (like the whole Firewire thing)... that really irritates me for the cost of the darn things. iTunes is horrible and non-intuitive to use, which isn't a huge change, I guess. The interface on the iPad feels like it hasn't evolved since the first iteration of touchscreen devices... my ancient iPod Touch almost seems like a better device than the Air 2.

With a Surface 3, I could run GIMP and Blender. I've got both of those on my cheap Dell Venue 8. With Air 2, open source is forbidden or something because Apple. I guess I can buy someone's attempt to give us image editing, and take a wild leap with 3d modeling on the iPad since that seems way less populated compared to content consumption apps.

    *sigh*

Interface and usability are supposed to be so hot on Apple products. iPhone, sure... but I just don't see it with the iPads. Even MSFT's Win8 feels lightyears ahead of where Apple is in the tablet space.
