That's fine, not everyone finds things of intrest there or likes how the servers are set up and other things. I'm just annoyed when people dump on something because of one bad experience or one statement another made, that sort of thing. I mean, if someone made a thread here that made no sense or a post that linked a bunch of files illegally, will they all stop using the Daz forums.?
LOL, I speak from experience (I just got off discord) and there are plenty of links to pirated content in the game discords I visit. In my discord list there are at least 2 game discords sharing Daz content right next to the NFT discord. I can also name at least 10 patreon accounts with discords that are sharing illegal files in them. Not saying all discords are bad, far from it. Just like not all forums are bad, but some are depending on the users and moderation. And again, this thread is about the DAZ NFT discord, not discord channels in general
There is nothing inherently wrong with Discord. There may be a dark side to Discord, but that goes for literally any chat platform in existence. Discord can have some very nice use cases. Discord is an instant chat, it also has voice and even some video now. We often use Discord instead of Steam chat when gaming, especially before Steam made some much needed improvements to its chat. When playing non Steam games, Discord has even more value as a unifying platform. Some people might not like the UI of Discord, but I have to say at least it is a fully functional piece of software that supports most modern features any chat program has...unlike the Daz forums which continue to be stuck 2005 and do not even have a proper functional search feature in this current year of 2022.
I keep my chats invite only, as I am not a social person, in spite of my post count here. I don't do Facebook or Twitter, but I have done Discord with friends. So even somebody as antisocial as me is fine with Discord.
That Daz is doing this is...fine, I guess. I don't get the point, though. Discord segregates users from the actual forums. Dividing the community this way is usually not a good thing, as this can foster a mentality that one group is better than the other.
Actually, it is the symbol for I Love You, not horns.
You seem to be making an accidental mistake. The reaction it asks you to select is the "I Love You" sign in Sign Language, not the "Devil's Horns" Those are two different hand gestures.

I love you has the thumb out, devil's horns has the thumb in
Thanks for the explanation. This old person made a mistake and good so. Good when I wondered, I learned something new. Thank you.
What's the link to their discord?
Everyone can run their own own Discord server and invite whoever they want in, share whatever things they like be it pritated games or funny cat videos, or disallow it. What happens on a Discord server depends solely on the server's administrator and their user base. My gaming guilds have their own Discord servers as has my RPG group, and my dev team. They're all separate and independent from each other with the exception that they're all accessed through a single client on my computer.
Yeah, saying "I'm not gonna go on Discord because there's bad groups on there" is sorta like saying "I'm not gonna go onto the World Wide Web because there's bad sites on there..."
As has been pointed out a few times, because I keep harping on it...lol This thread is about the Daz NFP Discord server.
For those looking for the link for the Daz discord, when you first open the Daz site, don't go anywhere you normally do, up top you will see NFT, you click that and scroll down to learn about it and when you get to the spot that talks about Non Fungible People, there is a link to the discord.
Now as for Daz using Discord, first I would like to say I agree that it segregates people, however that is something I have seen on this site, with the special memberships made available and not everyone can afford, or at one time there was a huge problem when it came to new people wanting to learn and it "appeared" those in the know were looking down and snubbing and even ridiculing those who were new. Be that as it may, there is segregation and "in my opinion" Daz is famous for it.
As for the Discord server, I stated earlier I don't blame them for doing that. When NFT's were first mentioned on the site, threads and posts were popping up all over the place, for the most part they still are, of those who were/are against it. There was a lot of backlash and still is, though not quite as much as in the beginning. By creating the server, those who do believe in NFT's had a place where they could talk, share and invest and not have to deal with that backlash.
Where it's for segregation or to avoid problematic posts and threads, that depends on who you talk to.
